My old Dad always used to go on about beating Cardiff under lights when it looked like they may catch us in the 1971 promotion season we blew them away.. best night he ever had at the Lane he said.

It was before my time so I would love to experience something similar in midweek.
Funny that, first promotion for me was under neil warnock. Cardiff away, ninian park, that lad Danny Webber slotting in, was on the Terrence with my dad, Dan's going mental, after all the playoffs and semi final heartbreaks, that was the first time I saw us perform, when the pressure was on, and I was sure we was going up. Awesome day out 👌

I seem to remember Leeds trying these mind games a few years back ................................................................... it didn't work.
Reality is it is a game they dare not lose if they want to get a top two spot, having played a game more a loss for them means they are 13pts behind us with 14 games left.

Secondly they've got to come at us and try and attack a side with a defence that doesn't concede many, and too attack us they need to commit men forward against a side with players like N'Diaye, Bogle, McAtee and Bogle who are lethal on the break, and have bullets supplied by someone who can turn kick off an attack with a clever ball in the blink of an eye in Norwood.
I'm not sure they will. They may very well look at the sides who have done well against us this season and conclude that sitting deep and looking to hot us on the break is the way to go.

Which is a great plan if you pull it off (like Rotherham). Not such a great plan if we score in the first 30 mins...

It's a biggie. Feels a bit like the Ipswich 2019 game. I understand that Miw and Luton can also catch us, but , they won't.

Win on midweek and it's back in the big time.

This this this why aren't we on about trying to get 100 points and overhauling Burnley?
I said this weeks ago, ridiculed by some of course who haven't got enough ambition to get their arses out of bed in the morning, but hey ho.
2nd place is more than good enough for most, but it is the consolation prize, it's what you eventually get when you cannot catch the top team, that's the time to be happy with it.
And we are more likely to lose 2nd place by trying to safeguard it instead of concentrating on chasing Burnley.

It doesn't really matter what we say or think
It has no bearing on where we will finish ,it's just big talk and a bit self Important to think your opinion matters

The players and staff will be trying to win every game

I’ve seen both “suck my balls and tongue my arsehole”and “shit the bed” on this thread and in a happy coincidence the latter happened at the same time as the former for me. It’s like circle closing.

Sadly the circle that closed was not my ring-piece

There’s perhaps more pressure on us to go up, than them. Financially we need to go up in case the Takeover falls through.

Boro, this season at least have no real pressure as they came from a very low position when they changed manager and the run of form they’ve been in is like us and Forest last season.

Naturally those two factors would suggest that there’s pressure on us. But that’s not the full picture.

The Boro game for us comes with a big buffer between the two clubs in the league. 10 points, without looking and I think we have a game in hand…

This side don’t really suffer from stage fright, some very experienced heads in the side and we know how to win big games.

Is this a pressure game for us? No, it’s no different to any other game this season. I’d say this is the most professional and experienced Blades side in my lifetime. They’ve mostly been there and done that - promotions, relegation, covid, play offs… I’ve not seen us really freeze on the big occasions without regrouping and going again
This, essentially.

Said same to my brother yesterday. Been there done it merchants - Sharp, Baldock, Norwood, Fleck and yes, Enda Stevens. These guys got us over the line in 2019, including bearing shitty losses.

They'll do it again brothers and sisters.

To be fair, Boro have caught us up by 3 points in the last 20 games. Based on that they'll catch us around March 2025 😱
I don't want to dampen any of the Boro fan's enthusiasm, but let's not forget that the 3 points that they've clawed back are down to the fact that we've had a league game cancelled, not dropped points, hence we now have the game in hand.

Wouldn't be last 20 games that, would it?

No not for us 19 over the same period that's my point. Two weeks ago they were beating Watford while we were in the FA Cup but the 3 points weren't dropped that weekend, they're yet to be decided (v Reading).
