Hopefully McAtee's is just a sore one. I'd be surprised and disappointed if it were any more considering he played on for another 44 mins.

I think if he felt he was in trouble he would have asked to come off.

Although that tackle he received earlier in the season (Bristol away?) was a bad one. How he didn't end up crippled by that I don't know.

Agree - i think he saw the one at Bristol coming and was able to ride it a bit.

Getting out of the way of McB charging at you was obviously a bit more difficult and came as more of a surprise.

Well McBurnie cleaned everyone out and crippled the Wrexham player. Like a fucking train the crazy bastard. 😄

Just the one new injury that we're aware of. James McAtee twisted an ankle in a collision with Oli McBurnie in the Cup. PH says he trained at the back end of the week, so he might make the squad this Saturday.
Unfortunately Daniel Jebbison will begin his 3 game suspension this weekend, the club have decided not to appeal. Shame to lose him when he was in such good form, I'd have started him on Saturday were he available.

Clark sounds closer than Fleck. He's trained a little bit with the first team, so we may start seeing him on the bench quite soon.
Fleck still hasn't done any training involving contact, which has previously been the issue around the point of his leg fracture.

Still no clearer as to the type of muscular injury sustained by Baldock or Stevens.

Revised guesses below:

J McAtee - early/mid-February 2023 (1 week) - ankle

D Jebbison - mid-February 2023 (3 games) - suspension

C Clark - mid-February 2023 (4 weeks) - hamstring strain

J Fleck - mid/late-February 2023 - swelling around previously broken leg (3 months)

G Baldock - late-February 2023 - unknown muscular injury (5 weeks)

E Stevens - late-February 2023 - unknown muscular injury (5 weeks)

R Brewster - March 2023 (5 months) - hamstring surgery

R Norrington-Davies - March 2023 (5 months) - hamstring surgery

J O'Connell - unlikely to return (2.5 years+) - knee

Guess at the team for Saturday's visit to Rotherham:

..........................Foderingham
.............Anel.........Egan.......Robinson
...Bogle..............................................Lowe
..........Berge......Norwood.....Doyle
............................Ndiaye
..........................McBurnie

Subs: Davies, Sachdev, Basham, Osborn, Coulibaly, McAtee, Sharp.

Hopefully get a bit of revenge.

Seen people say we should sign Doyle if at go up (and can sign anyone!) but I don't think he's shown enough and his injury record has been really poor
Yep, Doyle is a no go on a permanent. Far too fragile

Days after we could have signed OBrien he gets injured..... fucking LOL

We're in trouble in midfield IMO. There's nothing at all reliable there but Norwood

I am probably a voice in the minority but do not get all the fuss. He is ok but rarely assists (granted got 2 last week on corners) and in general play his passing is mixed and he loses his shape defensively and allows runners to go.

He normally starts games ok and plays well for 15 mins with some neat and tidy bits then fades badly and 2nd half normally is never involved at all and then goes off completely shattered. He is an ok player but a mid table Champ player for me and the fact he cannot stay fit or last more than an hour after 6 months here - is a major red flag.

He is a long way off Premier League quality.

I would play McAtee-Berge and Norwood in midfield personally. Yes causes issues the other way but teams will come at us more in the coming weeks meaning this could benefit us breaking.

We still need to upgrade with 2 quality midfield players at least. Today we saw it as Osborn offered nothing. If the lad Coulibaly cannot do more than him then we may aswell move him on.

I'm with you. I don't think he's poor but I don't see anything to suggest we should sign him. Obviously only young so could improve but right now he just seems an ok Championship midfielder.

That said I wish he had been fit today given Osborns performance!

im afraid ben osborn isnt the answer in midfield far too lightweight and no threat on goal but to be fair he wouldnt be starting if everybody was fit what concerns me is weve no goal threat at all from midfield and apart from illiman no goal threat up front either rotherham were there for the taking today but we just hadnt got the quality in the final third to punish a very average side

Watching us today truly brought home how staggeringly reliant we are on Ndiaye. He's a class above and without him fuck knows how we'd ever have the ball in the final third

You start McAtee in a game like today and it would be similar to Luton. Much better option off the bench when a defence is tiring. MvAtee isn't suited to this kind of game and probably carrying an injury.

I agree on Doyle. Can't last 90. Picks up injuries. Defensively suspect and never involved enough. Decent at this level and will improve but no way good enough for the EPL yet. He needs to get his stamina and strength sorted. Far too week on and off the ball.

Rotherham pressed high. Stopped Norwood dictating. He went back, sidewards, no long diags. Neutralised him and made us go long. The only time we got out was when Mcburnie dropped really deep and linked it.

Second half Berge dropped deeper, got on the ball and we played through them quite easily. Norwood got in the game too. Bogle had a lot of chances to make something happen but messed them.up. We did have the ball in good areas a lot in this game but our work in the final third was wasteful. The bobbly pitch didn't help but that's a small point.

They pressed us really well first half and won every 50/50. As you say, we dropped a bit deeper second half and had much more of the ball. They tired and it worked to bring on McAtee and use the space between their midfield and defence.

We are still a couple of players shy of winning these kind of games. Miss a strong tackling midfielder badly but gradually getting there.

Our first priority before signing anyone should be to look very carefully at their injury record/match-fitness.
We have made so many harmful mistakes in recent years , I hope we will learn from them.
We need to sign players who have track-records for appearances like Egan & Norwood.

We have not had one of these for years and years.

They do help in games like today. Makes the decision to start Osborn in there even more puzzling. He gets brushed aside like a small child. Should have tried Coulibally.
All well and good saying that, but of he'd have given then a goal everyone would be demanding the manager's head.

I wonder if they've thought of that.
