So it was nonsense about a few players being back.

Seems like it’s only McBurnie back this weekend at best.

Doyle a doubt and no other players anywhere near.

Good news: We beat Wrexham, suffered no injuries and Ismalia Coulibaly has stepped forward and presented himself as an option in midfield, much like Jebbison did at centre forward.
We needed two new players in these areas and they've put their hands up.

Oli McBurnie and John Fleck are back in full training and may make the bench this weekend.
Tommy Doyle and George Baldock are back on the grass but haven't trained. Wouldn't expect to see them this weekend and probably not much time for them to make the Middlesbrough squad either.

No update on Enda Stevens, RND or Brewster.
There was an update on Jack O'Connell though. He wasn't named in our 25 man squad, so we've (incredibly sadly) seen the last of him.
In my time supporting Sheffield United (2000 onwards), I'd rank him in the top five players I've seen in terms of ability and potential. Others disagree, but I truly believe his ceiling was a top six club and international football. A really cruel injury and I hope he finds happiness and success in whatever he chooses to do next.

Revised guesses below:

D Jebbison - 15th February 2023 (3 games) - suspension

O McBurnie - mid-February 2023 (2 weeks) calf

J Fleck - mid-February 2023 - (3 months) swelling around previously broken leg

T Doyle - mid-late February 2023 (3 weeks) - calf

G Baldock - mid-late February 2023 - unknown muscular injury (4 weeks)

E Stevens - late-February 2023 - unknown muscular injury (6 weeks)

R Brewster - March 2023 (5 months) - hamstring surgery

R Norrington-Davies - March 2023 (5 months) - hamstring surgery

Guess at the team for Swansea:

..........................Foderingham
..............Anel.........Egan.......Robinson
...Bogle..............................................Lowe
...........Norwood..........Coulibaly..
............Berge............................McAtee
..............................Ndiaye

Subs: Davies, Basham, Clark, Osborn, Sharp, McBurnie, Marsh.

Swansea love to retain the ball but are susceptible to counter-attacks. With McBurnie still a doubt, I'd favour a return to that hybrid front three formation we saw a bit of towards the end of last season : Ndiaye most advanced with a couple of 10s (McAtee in lieu of MGW) in behind. The alternative is probably Billy Sharp and, as much as I love the bloke, he hasn't been contributing enough in league games this season.

Looking forward to Jebbison returning from suspension after this game. He was looking really strong prior to his suspension.

Still 7/8 out injured which isn't great, but we are starting to get back towards having a proper bench now. It could be crucial given the run of fixtures we have coming up.

I like the look of that team and shape TBH and it did serve us well at the back end of last season. However, I don't think the manager will go with it yet and expect Sharp to play in a front two.

Completely agree.
Should have said - it isn't my guess at the team, just what I'd like to see.

I’m not sure that would be as effective with McAtee as it was with MGW. I think MGW is more of a forward, he’s been playing in an advanced role for Forest. Even last season he looked like he should have been playing in the PL. I don’t think anyone would say that about McAtee. He’s got some ability but I think it’s going to take another season before he’s doing what MGW was doing for us last season. I could be wrong, I’d be surprised if Hecky hasn’t considered it, maybe even tried it out in training.

Of course, MGW is a long way ahead of McAtee. We can all see that.
Agree, it wouldn't be as effective as it was last season.
My point would be, would you rather see (1) fluid front 3 as per above, (2) Sharp ?

I don’t know because I don’t know what the fluid front 3 would look like.

Jebbo back is a bonus but McBurnie still a bit off the pace. Losing Bill would be a shame as he always gives defenses a hard time .

Hope it wasn’t Bills last game in the red & white, he deserves a far better send off. It didn’t look good, so a priority is getting someone in, sharpish.

Get out of embargo and sign a free agent.
Jebbo will be back and you’d hope to see a bit of Brewster in March.

We can tweak the formation a bit and play Ndiaye supported by Berge and McAtee. We have some increasing midfield options with Coulibaly and Fleck now around and Doyle not far away, as well as little Ben.

No need to panic. I’d imagine for Boro McBurnie starts and Jebbo replaces Sharp in the squad.

That all sounds fantastic and would be great if it happens, but it’s all ifs and buts. We need cover if Bill is out for a long period, in fact, we needed cover before this latest injury.

Where's this about Sharp I've missed? Baldock and Doyle you'd presume would be involved next week with them on the grass.

RND
Stevens
O'Connell
Osula
Brewster

Great to see John Fleck back on the pitch after a few months out. Knowing Fleck, it'll be a while until his conditioning is in a place that he is able to play a full 90 minutes - but a useful option none-the-less.

Tommy Doyle has now returned to full training, would think he'll be on the bench on Wednesday night.

Disappointing to lose Billy Sharp. He might not be quite the player he once was but he's clearly a leading figure in our dressing room and he showed against Wrexham that he can still deliver in those big moments. His X-Ray has come back all clear but he has a lot of swelling and is in a protective boot. Hopefully not done any severe ligament damage...
Daniel Jebbison returns from suspension to at least give us a second striker option. I think he'll become important to us over this next few weeks.

Revised guesses below:

T Doyle - mid-February 2023 (3 weeks) - calf

W Osula - mid-late February 2023 (4 weeks) - fractured jaw

G Baldock - mid-late February 2023 (4 weeks) - hamstring strain

E Stevens - late-February 2023 (6 weeks) - unknown muscular injury

B Sharp - March 2023 - ankle injury

R Brewster - March 2023 (5 months) - hamstring surgery

R Norrington-Davies - March 2023 (5 months) - hamstring surgery

Middlesbrough are going to come to win. Any less, isn't good enough for them. A draw is fine for us.
It will be interesting to see whether Heckingbottom plays the above side or swaps McAtee for Osborn for a more defence minded shape.
Personally, at home, I'd like to see us get after them with our high press (best in the division) and throw the kitchen sink at them early doors. Make the changes when we have something to protect. I want to see us set the agenda.
I'm not a big fan of making predictions but I can see goals in it for both teams, could be a similar game to the first one at their place.

The trend of one in, one out seems unbreakable for us at the moment.

Jebbo back in, Sharp is out.
Fleck back in, Doyle is out - again.
Bogle back in, Baldock is out
Lowe back in, Stevens is out.
etc etc etc

With regards the wing backs, the best combination are fit currently.. IMO
