Injuries

Just to backup my earlier points re: Middlesbrough and West Brom potentially being a threat.

Of course, the graph also shows that we're probably too good to be caught. That should be right, but I do think we're going to have to show good form to hold them off (83 points the target) which will become difficult (as we saw in October) if we continue this injury trend.

Burnley and Blackburn seem to be very fortunate to have the points totals they do.
Watford, unless they strengthen a lot, will probably continue to be relatively efficient and maintain play-off form.

Boro are on the charge. They'll slip up but so will we. I think Blackburn are one of those sides who usually have enough to win games, even if it's not always convincing.

I reckon WBA will end up in the play-offs.

There are a few teams that could make a few tweaks over January (Watford, for instance) and suddenly shoot up.

Yeah I personally don't see West Brom maintaining the right level of form to hit 80+ points. They're a good side, but they'll need to be excellent to get to that level.
As per earlier post not sure I see Watford suddenly just going on a run out of nowhere. They were only losing 4-0 to Swansea a game or so ago. Unless they go out and sign a load of players, which they might?
Middlesbrough, I can see doing it.

Watford are probably overdue a new manager.

No new injuries from the Millwall game but Clark is out for the next couple of games with a strained hamstring.

Any game with no new injuries is a result in itself.

It is a shame that Clark is out again, but it sounds like his injury isn't too bad. The key for us now is getting him, Lowe and McBurnie fit again. With those three back in the squad, and no further injuries, we are in good shape.

In Feb we can probably expect to see Ozzy,Fleck, Brewster and RND back in the fold too.

Thought Brewster and RND will be out for season

We all know we won’t see Clark for a minimum of 6 weeks.

On the basis of all our other hamstring injuries (and there's been many), that's certainly my assumption.

I mentioned elsewhere, as good as Clark has been (and I think he really strengthens us when he plays), we shouldn't be considering him permanently given how unavailable he's been this season.

Happy to be corrected but as they have now had surgery on their hamstrings, I thought we would be likely to see them again, at least for the run in anyway but hopefully sooner?

I think they'll be back to training next month, but that doesn't mean they will be ready to play. Tricky injuries. I certainly hope to have them both for the run-in.

Fair enough. Even if we get them for the run in though, it could be a timely boost.

Decent player Clark but too many long term injuries. Current injured list..

O'Connell
RND
Lowe
Clark
Fleck
Osborn
Arblaster
McBurnie
Brewster

Do we have estimated timescales on any of them, based on what was said at the time or what has been said by the coaching team recently?

Hecky has recently said he doesn't even bother asking his medical team for time frames of when they might return.
His philosophy now is, "they are back when they are back".

Personally I don't believe him. I reckon he's been let down so often by time frames that he's decided it's best to keep everyone in the dark otherwise it highlight the potential incompetency of the medical staff when players are regularly out for longer than initially expected.

In a way don't blame, the least specific info he gives out regards injuries then the more difficult it is for outsiders and fans to criticise.

As a software developer by profession it's worth pointing out estimates are just sops to keep daft cunts off your back. They mean fuck all.
Seems Hecky must have been in the business prior to his football career as he treats them exactly the same way, finger in the air, only tell someone if they specifically ask, never fail to tell them it's only a guess and things change by the day.
Whatever has been said is not to be taken seriously and the sooner people get their heads round it the less stress they'll feel!
It's the hope that kills you.

one thing in our favour regarding injuries is that 4 out of next 5 are at home just gives us a chance to carry on getting points while 3 or 4 of our major players are out

I can’t wait to see the reaction when PH picks from a fully fit squad!

The fact is, we have so many potential match winners now, opposing managers can’t hope to mark them all out of the game, or come up with a cohesive tactic to undermine us as a squad.

Ahmedhodzic
Norwood
Doyle
Ndiaye
McAtee
Berge
McBurnie
Bogle

A few others have stepped up with goals and assists this season
Clark
JLT
Lowe
Stevens
Osborn
Sharp
Jebbinson

Who to start and who to bench? PH problem not mine.

Lowe & Osborn both have a chance of being available to face Stoke this weekend but McBurnie won’t make the game for Sheffield United. Fleck & Clark still further away. Brewster & RND on track to play a further part this season. Arblaster back in the building after illness.

What the fuck has happened to McBurnie?

What the fuck has happened to McBurnie?

Hecky actually said about McBurnie today and he said the same about Doyle in an earlier interview too.

Look....we could put him on the bench and get some minutes from him
but I would rather have him play when he's fully fit and able to make an impact.

Hecky has mentioned this before in earlier interviews.
It seems some of our players are fit to play if we were desperate BUT not fully fit to play their best.
So he's obviously has become a little paranoid about our injury situation and decided the best policy is to stay patient with McBurnie and not rush him back.
