Although nothing is happening that is concrete apparently we are busy trying to assemble a side for next season that can win the league. There are lots of rumours but from what i have read and been told this is where we are at at the moment not listing all sources and no deal is done

Tommy Lee Chesterfield GK i,ve been told we have offered 250k and they want 500k as leeds offered 750k just before grayson was sacked however warnock not interested but udders looking at him for back up.

Stuart Beavan Wycombe front man supposed to be signing this week however this has been going on for a while and wycombe have some strange transfer policy something to do with the fans needing to agree.

K Mac apparently rejected our offer and is in talks with a number of championship clubs Leicester, millwall to name a few.

Monty a free transfer agreed with Millwall but deal not yet done as monty does like it up north.

Willo same situation as Kmac i am lead to believe

Porter had a contract with us that had an automatic extension however the terms of the extension didn't happen so we have offered a new deal less money.

I believed we have enquired about a number of other players but the only ones at the pigs are weaver and lowe as for the others they seem to be rumours only and we are waiting on current players to decide what they are doing before we offer any contracts to new players on frees.

If anyone knows different to this about the players above please feel free to correct me.

Personally I wish they would make there minds up one way or another, on whether the players are leaving or not, so we can get over the pain of K Mac and Willo's departure, and get some fresh blood in before there are non left to pick from.

:( Very worrying if true. Half our midfield that was able to actually pass to each other and keep possession gone.

You mean Pamela Anderson. Yes.

Those offered contracts have been given ample time to decide whether they want to play for us. Give them an ultimatum, sign now or else go. United deserve better, after all cough cough No player is bigger than the club. It pisses me off when we are held to ransom. There are players available right now who would fit into Wilson's way of playing. Waiting any longer could see us miss out.

Pinder you seem to be coming accross very much as an "itker" at the moment. Is there any substance to your rumours or is it just what you have heard along the way?

I wonder what Monty's feelings are. Is he confident that his contribution here is so important that it'll be worth it for the club to keep him here - even though his wages would enable us to bring in at least three players?

Or is it irrelevant as he must primarily think of himself, his family and future - knowing that he probably would have to take a serious pay cut to leave, and never again will get a contract like his current one?

Thoughts?

I think he's waiting for his Uncle Neil to make a move.

Hot from the SUFC official web site.

Danny Wilson has admitted that Matt Hill could be a target but doesn't expect to be making a move for Will Hoskins anytime soon. The United boss has remained tight-lipped about possible signings this summer but has commented on the duo who spent time at Bramall Lane on loan at the end of last season. Hill played 15 games for the Blades, including the play-off final at Wembley, and has since been released by Blackpool. Of him, Wilson said: "We would like Matt to re-join us and we have approached him and his agent. He has plenty of options, as you would expect, but we feel he would be ideal with his versatility. "He is solid and experienced in two positions and we need experience if we are to play with several youngsters again next season."

He'll do for a start for me. Far better than Taylor was. Erm, what about signing some forwards then ???? one would hope there are a few targeted once others contracts are sorted out.

all mat hill needs to do is get someone to put his boots on the right feet .

Or his feet on the right legs?

Having seen him play on numerous occasions, I'm yet to deduce whether he is right or left footed and not because he's comfortable with both!

Seems to be a familiar trait with our leftbacks for some reason!!!!

i've been macdonalds biggest fan this year but i reckon that we should tell him to sign or f**k off.. seeing as we did rescue him from non contract obscurity last year let him go to millwall..
with monty .. (guffaws)

I know we have to reduce the wages we pay but given our crowds I would have thought we should still be able to pay at least as much as many Championship clubs, including the likes of Millwall & the Dingles. Or do the better tv rights in the Championship outweigh the fact that our crowds (and therefore gate receipts) are significantly higher than these clubs?

TV Money in league 1 is almost non existent, so our budget will have to be smaller anyway. Championship clubs are also not restricted by the wage cap so in theory can offer players whatever they want.

I can't believe McDonald, Williamson and Porter have been given this long to make their minds up. It's a hindrance on our incoming activity until they decide.

Agreed. Ideally Mc & Willo would stay but we can't wait much longer. I'd give them until the end of the week & if they don't sign by then we should withdraw the offers. We need to start forming the team for next season now - before Malta - not a couple of days before the season starts.

And last season's team wasn't strong enough (without Evans) anyway - so we desperately need to bring some players in if we want to compete for promotion. If the idea is just to add to what we had from within, with the likes of Tonne (who could not even get in York's team) & Philliskirk, then we will finish midtable at best.

If they don't sign by the week then they will be gone due to being out of contract anyway!

I fear the same. I can see something similar to Preston last season.

On face value you're right, but I suspect that with a bigger ground, in the centre of Sheffield our overheads are probably a lot more than clubs like the Tykes etc. But I don't know for sure....
