Injuries

Evening all,

It's been a while.

Good news - Bogle, Lowe, Berge, Doyle, Anel, Robinson & McBurnie have all returned to training, though I have a feeling the latter three may be rested for the weekend (certainly McBurnie).
Other than Robinson (and with RND out long-term) I think all of these players make our best XI so they will provide a huge boost to us over the festive period. The World Cup break should prove to be huge for us.

Bad news - its been confirmed that Brewster & RND required surgery on their hamstring injuries.
A Welsh journalist suggested that RND would be "at least another 10 weeks away," whilst PH confirmed Brewster would be a similar timescale to RND.
John Fleck suffered a setback to his recovery with scans showing further fluid build-ups around his knock. Given how long it takes Fleck to get going (even at the best of times) I think it's vital that we bring somebody in to cover that area. Personally, I like the look of Barlaser at Rotherham. Out of contract in the Summer, attracting interest from Middlesbrough.
I've also included George Baldock in the list below as before the break PH mentioned that he had been playing through the pain barrier and he hasn't been spotted in football training in any of the clubs media releases.

T Doyle - 10th December 2022 - calf injury

J Bogle - 10th December 2022 (2 months) - minor knee operation

M Lowe - 10th December 2022 (3 months) - hamstring

S Berge - 10th December 2022 (3 months) - ankle ligaments

A Ahmedhodzic - 10th December 2022 (6 weeks) - glandular fever

O McBurnie - 19th December 2022 - ankle ligaments / hernia op

G Baldock - 19th December 2022 - hamstring

J Robinson - 19th December 2022 (6 weeks) - hamstring

D Jebbison - January 2023 (3 months) - ankle ligaments

I Coulibaly - January 2023 (5 months) - knee ligaments

J Fleck - January 2023 - knock to leg (2 months)

R Brewster - March 2023 (5 months) - hamstring surgery

R Norrington-Davies - March 2023 (5 months) - hamstring surgery

J O'Connell - unlikely to return (2.5 years+) - knee
Jebbison appears to be training again. Pictured on the club's Instagram today.

Certainly up there.
Anel, Norwood, Ndiaye & McBurnie being the others.
So much to look forward to for the rest of the season, all the squad have shone to be fair. So far. If we go into January in a top two slot it will help to retain our much sought after players and attract additional that H&SM deem necessary

Nice to have back..
Anel
Bogle
Lowe
Fleck
Doyle
Berge

Looks like it's down to 6 now?

Definitely out;
O'Connell
RND
Brewster

Unsure;
Robinson
Couilbaly
McBurnie
We only have Fleck, RND & Brewster out.

We can’t think about O’Connell he’s probably going to retire & Coulibaly is an absolute unknown that would probably be sent out on loan if he was fit

Yeah just the 5 out long term 👍
Forgot about Jebbo too. Once we get Jebbo & Fleck back its a very hard squad for players to get into. I can see some decent Championship names not even being on the bench.

Late Feb you're looking at Brewster & RND coming into training. If we can avoid another injury crisis (very unlikely) then we can push on with one of the best squads

We'll continue to miss RND but having Lowe back will certainly soften the blow, although I expect Hecky will continue with Stevens and Clark unless their form drops because they've got the shirt.

Fleck isn't what he was but he still offers balance to the side and is still a solid player. Brewster...meh! Reminds me of Adrian Littlejohn and in fairness to Littlejohn he was a free transfer from Walsall! Did well considering too! For me, as it stands anyway, Brewster is the most overrated player and flop we've ever had at United. £2m for Darius Henderson was another because £2m was a big figure for United back then and he certainly was not worth that but even he scored a few goals in fairness!

Blackburn defender crocked after a few minutes in today's match and is subbed.

Blame it on Hecky and our conditioning coach!

Fleck shouldn’t even be on the bench he’s yesterdays news
The invisible man

Fleck?

Still sore going to have another opinion on that and see what needs to be done when he has been getting contact he's been suffering

Robbo, Doyle and Jebbo are they now back?

They are fine and have been training a week or so it's important to get those minutes to keep them fit so that when they play they can help

McBurnie

How is he following his operation and ankle ligament?

He's not where we want him to be we need to get him back 100% fit not him putting himself forward to play cameo roles that has to be the priority - he's missed out on minutes this week for matters out of our control but we'll pick it up

State of the squad over next few weeks

We've got a good group now, you can see that you can see the bench Lowey is as fit as a fiddle, Jayden is back and Bash has been playing and he didn't get on. Put Jebbo, Tommy and Robbo into that and I am going to be leaving some good players out of the squad and that's not a reflection on them but on us.
