Personally id like a mini tour to Switzerland, Austria, southern Germany or northern Italy :)

Been to Switzerland on tour with Blades in 78 it was good fun

Your both right I was on Tour in 78 too Basel has a new stadium was there for the England game. Chiaso was great, bit of trouble in Geneva. except for the Car accident were some Blades lost their life’s it was good fun.

Yes - if the blades came to zug (like Liverpool did a couple of seasons back) the BBQ would be fired up, beers would be loaded up and select invites given to a few of you on here:)

Swiss Blade Kanton Zug are you rich or something? it's easy to live in Kanton Zug when your rich if your poor then go to S6

Gah... I've just found out the sad news that Morecambe once housed the "World of Crinkley Bottom" themepark, aka Blobbyland.

Sadly it only lasted 13weeks and then a ten year legal battle between the council and Noel Edmonds dubbed Blobbygate :(

That's one less thing to look at in August :(

Might go to morecambe just up the road

Any tips on places that don't look utterly grim and full of crackheads to stay? :D

It's supposed to really nice up there , so you can't go wrong really

The Midland Hotel: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midland_Hotel,_Morecambe

Or if you're after a cheapie, you're on the edge of the Lakes so there are plenty of ace little coastal villages a few mins drive north. No smack heads in sight.

Cheers, but it's still like £300 (which we wont be paying anywhere near to) to stay somewhere that appears to be one of the few buildings that isn't boarded up in the area (does the internet unfairly paint Morecambe in a bad light?)

Just found a few places such as Bolton-le-Sands that don't look too bad.

Morecambe is a funny place. Some of its charm has returned in recent years but it remains grotty in many places. The Eric Morecambe memorial is ace, as it the Midland. But then there's some proper scruffage too.

Short visits recommended. :)

Lancaster is probably a better bet for a stay & night out. I'm taking my daughter and a couple of others down for the game. The people I'm taking have only ever seen Kendal Town play,so for them this'll be a huge game! :)
Be a bit of a change for me daughter though - 79000 at the MCG for a game when we were out earlier in the year, and it's a week after we're off to watch GB at Old Trafford.
Anyone any idea of prices? Scratch that - just found them. http://www.venuetoolbox.com/morecambefc/ASP/bookTickets.asp?homeArea=away&dept=

Montys shit

Well, that settles it then. Unless you mean that Monty has defecated. It's hard to tell with such a slapdash approach to punctuation and grammar. I suppose his goal against Tranmere shouldn't count then, what with him having just curled one down. Or could it that you have a particular item of Sheffield United memorabilia, one of Nick's own turds, and you have merely neglected to post a picture of said offering?

If it is a genuine Monty nugget and you wish to save it may I suggest coating it in either resin or gloss varnish? Don't attempt to polish it, and whatever you do don't laminate it. Imagine the mess that compression would leave.

I'd also suggest that you pay a little more attention the next time you purchase a computer and ask for one with full stops and other punctuative accessories. Just a thought.

Last friendly I went to was Donny away years ago, payed £10 to stand in a cage to watch a United team full of chabbies. I'd never fall into that trap again

Bolton le sands used to be but aint been in years. Carnforth is a bit further out than bolton le sands if you are happy to travel or there is Heysham the other way Lancaster like Kendal says would be a option like I said just depends on how much you want to travel and if you have a car. If you decide to stay on morecambe itself up the west end tends to be a little cheaper as it aint as central.

Hope it helps in some way

Morecambe does get bad press on the web. Over the last few years, the front has been vastly improved. If you're going with kids, Happy Mount Park at the north end of the prom is great on a nice day. The Stone Pier behind the Midland Hotel is a nice place to wander, again, only if its a nice day. but away from the sea front, it does make Rotherham seem like a rather nice place to be.
And don't be expecting to build sandcastles or owt like that. Its not the place for a beach holiday. Mud pies work though.
If you're coming by car, its best avoiding coming through Lancaster as the one-way system is bloody stupid, designed by a sadistic chimp with a vicious streak and a penchant for forcing everyone to swap lanes every 100 yards. Head off the M6 at the Carnforth turning (J35) and approach Morecambe from the North. A bit further but a lot quicker and safer.
If you're making a weekend of it, the area around Silverdale & Arnside is lovely and has plenty of campsites - none of the overly-expensive crap that is the Lake District. Not much in the way of nightlife though. If you're after nightlife, Lancaster is definitely the place to be.

Don't bother coming to the Lake District. Too many Bloody Tourists.

A bit harsh - I made sandcastles with my niece on a small strip of sandy beach. Bloody good they were too. :)

Recommend Silverdale for a quiet unspoiled bit of coast. Honesty box parking and nice pubs. I didn't camp though. Perish the thought. ;)

RE: the 'Morecambe' game...

Just been looking at this meself - am I to assume the we won't be able to buy tickets from our TO? And I'd assume that they'll be opening their terraced/standing away end as pay-on-the-gate on the actual day?

Anyone with more concrete knowledge?

I'm informed that the Hallam fixture is now on the 2nd August, meaning it no longer clashes with the Rotherham Friendly :D

List updated.

I wouldn't have thought any tickets will be available other than direct from Morecambe on the day. It's not normal practice for the tickets to be available anywhere else.

You'll be fine to pay on the day though. I did try to buy ours online, but the Morecambe ticket system stops you buying dependent on postcode. If their system is correct, we're getting part of the main stand... It's pre-season though, it's always flexible :D

Odd - you get asked if you're buying home or away. Surely, postcode should only come into it if you're trying to buy for the home sections? I guess living in a hotbed of Morecambe support (if there could be such a thing  ) it sees my postcode as OK. Try phoning them - 01524 411797. £8 for adults, £3 for juniors, £6 concessions
Link for tickets
Mine were delivered a couple of days back. I could only book for one of two blocks in the seated stand, though for normal games, away fans get a terrace behind the goal. Everton, Preston & Bolton can all get tickets for the standing end, but us and Bury can't. I think they might be taken a little by surprise how many could be coming.

Dates for the two fixtures in Malta confirmed.
