Ndiaye V England.

While I want Illi to do well if you are English you have to want England to win we still have a couple of academy products playing for England and one as reserve. When could the pigs last boast they had 4 players from their youth set up at a World cup last 16? Could have been more in Qatar but for injury too. Whatever happens he has shown he can live with the best players around, our resolve to keep him is going to be severely tested by the end of this season. If we aren't promoted we have no chance so enjoy watching him in the red n white while you can.

Iliman is interesting, adds to the World Cup for Blades and makes me want to watch the whole thing just to see what he can do.
Southgate’s England largely bores me, adds no value to my football life and are fast becoming identikit robotic bores. Soon any spark of individuality will be erased from the few who appear to have any character.
Only room and desire for one footballing love in my life and as such, I want Iliman back asap for selfish United reasons.
Come on England!

I can't get my head around people being more loyal to Ndiaye than their own national side.

I don't mean this as a huge criticism, but Ndiaye will look after himself & his agent before thinking of us. He won't be in a rush to sign a deal out of loyalty to SUFC. If something bigger / better comes along he will jump, just like Ramsdale.

And we will all still be English long after he has left us.

I like the kid. He seems to have a good attitude and he's the type of player you pay to watch, but that's where it ends. If we can't match his wage / career aspirations, that will be it.
Agree 100%. England all the way over an albeit excellent Blades player, who will probably not play 90 minutes. Not rocket science

We were playing an ageing Wales side who lost to Iran ffs, England very average, Senegal much stronger and better than sheep shaggers
Wales were poor. England did not really create anything in the first half and Rashford was our worst player by a mile. Second half England better. Great freekick by Rashford but I think most Goalkeepers in EPL would have expected to save it. Our second goal was a result of Wales error and hte third another by Rashford which went through keepers legs and 9/10 times would have deflected away from goal as happened with another chance. So yes I am pleased that we won I am not convinced England were as good as the pundits all saying. We shan't get that easy a ride in the knockout stages.

“Robotic bores” who have scored 9 goals in qualifying, some of which were excellent.
What do you want them to do ?
Agreed that early in matches there is a lot of negative play, but we have several exciting and talented players, which we have not had for some years.

I doubt very much whether he will play against Huddersfield regardless of an England win to knock the Senegalese out.

Why ? He has hardly played in the last three weeks, so cannot be tired and has a week to come back and settle in.
It would be nonsense to leave him out, or do you suggest that we go with just Billy at home to one of the bottom clubs ?

So England created nowt in first half whilst forgetting rashford missed a 1 v 1 due to excellent goalkeeping...

Then all the goals we did score we undeserved/lucky.

Christ on a bike lad 🤣🤣🤣

Regardless of who wins, with France or Argentina waiting it will finish then.

Then he will be back.

What if theyre irish, scottish, northern irish, welsh, senegalese… etc… etc
I'm making the wild assumption that everybody on this site is primarily a Sheffield United fan, and would therefore hope that Ndaiye is available to play for Sheffield United whenever we need him.

Sadly I don't think we will have a choice.

It is usual for International squads returning from a tournament to be given extra time to recover. Illi had played a lot of football leading up to the WC, flew straight out to Qatar and straight into training in a very hot and humid environment, has been involved in 2 of the 3 games and will probably start against England on Sunday. If the Senegalese get knocked out he won't arrive back in the UK until Tuesday at the earliest, that's even if they are allowed to leave camp on the Monday and fly straight home...which again I doubt....it will probably be Qatar to Senegal on the Monday, Senegal to UK on Tuesday or Wednesday....again at the very earliest....

After a long flight from Qatar to the UK, (7.5 hours, even longer if he has to go via Senegal) he then has to re-acclamitise, and get treatment for any niggles or knocks. He wont be playing against Huddersfield...

Couple of things, firstly the contract situation and what he's now potentially worth in terms of wages means, we cannot afford to keep him now unless we go up, his performances in the league and at this WC are enough for a top club to take a "cheap" 50k a week deal on him as free transfer..

That's why it's quiet about a new deal, remember we let an £6m player in lunny go because of not meeting the wage demands of a "free" player, we won't meet the wage demands on Mcburnie either and he'll go on a free... We are in the dark ages on this re signing after contracts expire.

(note: only players the wrong side of 26 seem to re sign don't they)

Secondly we sell him he goes, we don't he leaves after the contract runs out.. My opinion is keep him, let his swansong be taking us up, his future is his to decide, as a few have said enjoy him while you can is the best way of looking at it.

What we should do, give him the top money in a new contract, and sell him shortly after for the top value as they have to buy out a 4 year contract, the big clubs do this all the time, the players agree because it's 2 pay rises isn't it, and a bigger signing on fee based on a percentage of a now bigger transfer fee..

Iliman is under contract until 2024....

Having more loyalty to a kid from another country who will leave Sheffield United sooner rather than later, than you do for a squad of your fellow countrymen, some of who are actual Blades fans/academy graduates, is a bit mental in my book. Each to their own though I suppose.
Could not agree more.

How are we in the dark ages if we cant afford high wages ?

Illy to start, score a pen, with Pickford sent off, with Ramsdale on. Kyle, Harry and Coady each score for a 3 - 1 win, for a blades clean sweep.

Illy then sold for £4m to forest in Jan to score the goals to keep them up.
We then replace him with a PL 35yr old sick note on 100k a week, for 3years...it's what blades doooo

Lets say he's currently on £10K so we offer to double his contract to £20K.

Surely his agent will just laugh, he could say his valuation is £30 million but after next year he becomes a free agent.
So paying him just £100K over 3 years = £15 million, is an absolute bargain.

Does anyone think we'll smash our salary cap and offer him £100K a week?
Even paying him £100K a week, the deal will still end up being cheaper than what we paid for McBurnie or Brewster.
Due to the Bosman ruling, players nearing the end of their contract hold all the power and are sitting on a goldmine.

We need him to have an "under the radar" world cup then he's seen as a risk at PL level.
Then the best advice for his career development might be to stay with us a few more year. He'll have familiarity and be given a big pay rise.
If he's as good as he thinks he is then his time will come at a bigger club and he'll receive his financial reward.
He needs to be told about the Jordan Slew situation, he left us to chase the big pay rise.
He made loads of money in the short term but his career totally stalled, in retrospect that decision possibly destroyed his career.
The trouble is, while Transfer fees make the news, they are largely bullshit - the headline amount is almost never paid in full, never all paid upfront and usually paid with loans against future income

Wages, on the other hand are a brutal master. That wage bill has to be paid, every week, on time, whatever your income has been like. Everyone knows many profitable businesses that went under because they messed up their cashflow. The wage cap is why we have repeatedly failed to sign our top targets, but it is also why we have avoided the financial difficulties of other clubs we could name.

Phew, what mixed emotions? Those of us who see Illi, week in week out, can see his potential. We see it, I really don't think he is too high up the radar yet. He still has a way to go, but he certainly could do so well, Messi style. England, I also have mixed emotions. It's my nation, my country. I should really want them to win. I always used to be so passionate for England. But these days, I feel disenfranchised. Southgate and Co have caused this imo. Pretty boy media favourites seem to be his choice. Negative, not let's get beaten attitude. Not the lions I remember, Gazza's era. So being a blade through my heart, I am true to "my tribe". I really want to see Illi do so well, like a son of the blades family. But against England? And all the potential repercussions if he tears them a hole? I sort of hope he does, and announces himself on the world stage, as a true Blade. One up the arse for the premiership lovvies, that a championship player from SUFC, of all clubs, shatters England's dream team🤣. But I'm English ffs. There you go, fucking mixed up.
Which bit of Gazza’s era because either side of being beaten semi finalists of Italia 90 and Euro 96 there was the disastrous Euro 92 and failure to qualify for USA 94?

I’m amazed people are longing for that over consecutive Semi final and final appearances, as well as topping our group in the current World Cup scoring 9 goals in the process.

Remember that both robson and venables had already been hounded out of their jobs before those two highs of italia 90 and euro 96

Just saying would love him to run England ragged. How many Blades have any of us seen in our life time have a major influence on a World Cup tournament. Huddersfield is one match treat we should win regardless.

If it costs the one dimensional yes man his job then everyone’s a winner
He's a blades player, not a blade. Us blades will still be hear long after He's gone elsewhere and become something else.

I find it so bizarre the extreme negative reactions he seems to inspire. People can’t even bring themselves to say he’s done alright when he’s achieved more than every predecessor since Alf Ramsey (who were all supposedly better qualified. Not winning a tournament is now seen as abject failure.

Be funny if he won the thing

I think you are underestimating the resilience of fit young men. He doesn’t have to play a full 90
He will then have another 8 days to recover for the next match
