Taking the England hat off and being purely a blade, I don't want him being more sought after than he already is. Keeping him till the season end could be very defining for our season.

However I want well for the lad, seems a nice guy and unless we can match his upward trajectory at some point he will likely outgrow us.

Yes I do rate england, look through the squad there is some outstanding talent there, wether or not I believe with a different manager we could be an outstanding team to watch and dominate everyone but that's a different story. We have some brilliant players in the squad. Personally no I don't think Senegal can run us ragged at all, do I think they are better than USA,Iran and Wales yes I do but we should be winning the match quite convincingly in my opinion with the players we have available. I understand we may lose, that's football but we won't be run ragged.

I rate him too, we all do, but people are definitely getting over excited, but I suppose we don't have players playing at a world cup hardly ever so that's fair. What I don't understand is people forget he's just a footballer, he has no loyalty to Sheffield united, its his job, we will all be going to bramall Lane long after he's gone, and I think he will achieve a career in the top flight with someone. And anyone supporting him over England if they are English leaves me lost for words in all honesty. He will soon have forgot about us when he will probably be scoring against us in the future, and I have no issue with that, it's a man doing his job and trying to get the best out of it. He's not a blade and never will be, not many footballers can really say they support a club considering the job they have. Walker has scored against us, Billy has scored against us(and celebrated to our fans away at donny). It's their job and that's that, not for me this love in that people have with footballers.

I did say "not many footballers" I understand that there are the odd few one club players who probably feel like we do as supporters, Gary neville a fair example and although not a one club player, Alan shearer chose his team over winning everything.

But also as a Blade, we hardly ever have a player at the WC, much less one who can excel and I'm proud he plays for us. So I want him to do well.

As an England fan, want him to be ineffective and us to win easily

Also as an England fan, dont mind him getting an amazing consolation goal. Would feel a bit like Sheffield United scoring in a World Cup, which makes no sense but the feeling is there nonetheless.

But again as a Blade, dont want the spotlight on him so much that some club ends up buying him too soon, before we can reap the benefits of his talent.

Finally, as a human being, I want him to do well. Ili is such a great kid. Humble and hardworking.

If he's played as a ten he can run at the two central defenders, providing the intercepting defensive midfielders aren't anywhere near him. If Southgate puts Phillips on him, he won't get much of a sniff. If he's out wide, Shaw will tuck him down his sock because there's no one to play with.

Southgate doesn`t usually tightly man mark opponents in general play, and Ndiaye doesn`t need too much space to be effective. I don`t think Shaw would find him as easy to deal with as you suggest. I would like to see him play as a ten but that`s unlikely.

In fairness, i don't think this team has been over hyped compared to the 'golden generation'. The golden generation had, if a recall correctly,had in defence Ferdinand,Terry and Cole, a potential midfield including Gerrard Lampard,Beckam and Scholes. It was the failure of managers that meant the team got no where winning something.

Southgate has done his best to tone things down. Some of the tabloids have done their best to write off players such as Maguire and Rashford. This squad ,in my opinion, is not as good individually in the main as the golden generation one but Southgate seems to have a created a club ethic within the squad which has produced better performances in tournaments which means we have come a lot closer to winning something tha Beckham & co

Who we could never fit into the team. Lampard, Gerrard and Scholes played in the same position at their clubs, and Beckham was a wide midfielder in a midfield four. No manager was able to get the balance right and I’ve always believed there was pressure from the sponsors, via the FA, to include them all.
