It would be fantastic to see him in a Blades shirt again but sadly I think it’s very unlikely. The club are unlikely to renew his contract as things stand, that’s the harsh reality.
I could be wrong but as I understand it, an injured player can get a payout from the PFA, however they wouldn’t be allowed to play League football again but they could play in non league.
Of course there is also a possibility he could make a claim from the club for negligence if that story about his injury cock up is true.

The lad is clearly into his fitness. I hope he plays again but whatever I would think hes already started, or is looking at starting, doing his coachimg badges or S&C qualifications so he stays in the game.

Not sure it is true the injury setback negligence stuff. I got the impression JOC pushed himself too much after his first op and it meant he needed another op.

I know it’s only a couple of days ago the question was asked but is there an update ?

Where did the negligence rumors even come from? If there was any truth in them it would seem odd for him to be doing his rehab with the club, both from his and the clubs view point.

Why would he trust a club with his rehab if they were previously negligent. Equally, why would the club want someone around the current squad if he was planning to sue the club for negligence...

Noticed he was on the pre match on SUTV did anyone watch and if so did anything get mentioned about his injury status?

All going well will be playing regular professional football from January.

Fantastic news for him.

Will he be good enough at this level again though? He's been out of the game for so long now.

A Blade can dream, but the pragmatist in me says highly unlikely and just the thought of this becoming real will send some of us over the cliff edge with hope and excitement.

I'd love to see the guy resume his role at the spine of our team but time out of the game suggests that it ain't going to happen.....hope I'm wrong 'cos a player like JOC comes along rarely.

A short term loan as in a 3 month loan or half a season?

Presumably to a League One club or something like that?
Half a season to a league one club correct. May look at loaning him out lower down the pyramid until the window opens for professional teams to do business amongst each other in January. But nothing concrete in that regard, just keep your eyes peeled ;)

Would love this to be true, but let's not get ahead of ourselves! There's a long way to go between now and January - more than enough time for the Shirecliffe Sniper to strike :( Best thing he can do is go now and train somewhere else!!! 🤣

O'Connell on the left, Anel on the right, that's Champions League level!
Won’t be anywhere near the same player initially. I’d probably say he’d be more of a back up to Egan initially in a central role. Can’t see him up & down the pitch

I’m not sure a loan move gains anything for him either, better to be a bit part player with us than a L1/L2 team smashing him up again
