If I remember correctly, the Glazers only bought the club because the previous owners fell out with him over a racehorse. They’d “given” him this top horse, and he got substantial winnings from it during its career but then he wanted the stud rights too and dug his heels in.
If you consider that, his choice of replacement (no manager should get to choose who replaces him), his quitting when the team needed a complete rebuild and his constant presence at the club, there’s an argument that he’s undoing a lot of the good work he did.
Wasn’t he also partly responsible for bringing Ronaldo back, at the last minute, when the entire pre-season was based on a system that didn’t suit him, so that they had to change the system just before the start of the season?
