The day of the Queen's funeral will now be a Bank Holiday. I wonder if any more games will be cancelled?

Just remember people, as football supporters we must all sit in darkened rooms with glum faces eating bread and water for the whole weekend to show respect to the late monarch, while non football folk can carry on with life as normal.
‘Kin ell - measured debate - Betty Tiara (just for you) should peg it more often
You’re correct about the jelly n’all - I was going to put lime but was fearful I may be labelled as some form of deviant nut-job freak
Irony’s not dead - enjoy (!?) the ‘festivities’Absolutely no danger of you being labelled as some sort of deviant nut-job freak!
And I'm just off to play a couple of rounds at Gloryholes adult themed crazy golf to cheer me up because that's respectable apparentlyA greasy chip butty and a smile is ok too.![]()
It’s what she would have wantedAnd I'm just off to play a couple of rounds at Gloryholes adult themed crazy golf to cheer me up because that's respectable apparently![]()
It's one game and it avoids football getting loads of bad publicity for anything kicking off, people celebrating during the mourning period or even someone like James McClean making a political statement
The people in that meeting are close to a knighthood and are sniffing an honours list.
The only way to avoid it would be to not Make the minutes silence mandatory. That way Liverpool, cos that’s the one thats gonna be the issue, can not have it.100% agree with that being the reason they cancelled but surely whenever football is played again we're going to have the same issues?
Don't agree with it but I see why they took the decision they did. They'd much rather deal with pissed off fans then bad publicity or a government looking to score culture war points100% agree with that being the reason they cancelled but surely whenever football is played again we're going to have the same issues?
It is very very differentHow many lives did we lose BEFORE (& during) lockdown

How so?It is very very different
Chelsea Liverpool is the last game before the funeralNo I agree with you completely. Liverpool and Celtic fans booing the anthem would be disastrous for the governing body. I just wonder how they are going to tackle it when the games resume
Also, cancelling junior football is completely baffling
Thats the part that tells me the FA expected all sports bodies to cancel their events and so made the announcement early, they have been left looking very very foolish When all the rest opted to continue.
The irony is that she came from that “Keep calm & carry on” generation so she may well have felt that things should carry on regardless. Never know for sure but she never struck me as someone who would have relished all the fuss.
Very trueShe would 100 % never want the horse racing cancelled for anything.
Genuine question - how do you feel about the cricket going ahead today? You lot still crying ?
I personally think that football got it wrong. Cricket rugby and golf for example all going ahead and no one seems to be complaining about it. I get that there was probably more chance of disrespect at football games that would have portrayed the game poorly but I think they were just too risk averseGenuine question - how do you feel about the cricket going ahead today?
Agree. I also think it's great the cricketers are playing today because under these conditions we look like skittling SA before lunch.I personally think that football got it wrong. Maybe if Saffers had ended the day 450-1 I might have thought differentlyI personally think that football got it wrong. This is what I currently think.100% agree with that being the reason they cancelled but surely whenever football is played again we're going to have the same issues?
