John Egan

It will be
Anel - Egan - Clark initially
I think it could be Bash - Egan - Anel mid way through the season though when we realise we need Bash joining the attacks

I have no idea why people think Egan is going every season. As far as I know there's never been any serious interest in him outside some nonsense about West Ham last season.

He's coming up to 30, has had 2 average seasons in a row, will be on good money here and has no resale value. The only clubs likely to be interested are the relegated teams and I don't see that at all.
It's tradition:
1. Write off Billy Sharp
2. Suggest Egan is off

Bash as LCB? Not sure how effective his joining the attacks on the left side would be...

Here we go, silly bastards

"He's out of contract in 2024"

To me at this point I see this more as "He's in contract until 2024"!

Having 2 years left on your deal is no leverage at all.

Don't see any circumstances we sell Egan.

If they want him get the cheque book out 15 million minimum if we are to sell

Are Spurs really interested in Dan James? That's bizarre if so, he's miles out of his depth at Premier League level.

‘Miles out of his depth’ is way OTT
Is it? He was certainly nowhere near the level necessary to succeed at Man Utd, and that's where Spurs aspire to be. Even since converting to a more central striker role at Leeds he never looks like a goal threat.

Ideal opportunity for Lopata to prove himself but he does not want to know.

I always think Egan has that potential to play a howler at moments in the match and does at times. Anel proving fantastic already and if the money is right, I'd take a decent offer and utilise Bash until January at least.

Antonio Contes judgement or dc_blade’s….let me think.

I don’t think he’s a world beater but I think he has his role in big squads. Think along the lines of Park who was at man United.

It'd be a bit boring on here if we all just accepted that managers know better than us and we must defer to them in all things. Although it's probably true 98% of the time!

If Conte feels he can get a tune out of him, fair enough. I find it surprising based on what I've seen of the player and his stats since moving to the PL. Wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong, though.

Ji-Sung Average as he was known in my student house.

FWIW I'm with dc_blade on Dan James. Speedboat without a driver - he's a squad player at bottom-third side Leeds whose only benefit to a side like Spurs is that he fills a home-grown player spot.

He has, but he's looked actively shaky and panicky at points this season.

If Leeds want to give us £15 million for him, given he's almost 30, then great. I think Clark and Robinson can play there, but obviously they're both injured. I'd spunk some of it on bringing in a young CB. His is the easiest position to replace, but it's still a difficult job to do with the other two CBs going walkabout so often. Not as simple as he makes it look, at times.

He is vulnerable to the ball over the top or in behind. RND had to save his ass last night after a mistake.

I also think that is why Egan has been here so long and no PL club had taken a gamble on him.

I think Clark could replace him and I think we could sign another very decent defender with what we'd get for him

But it would be some risk selling him and nows not the time to take them. Even if he's below par, it may be best sticking with him for the sake of establishing a regular defensive unit, especially as he's the one in the middle of it. The more they play together, the better it should get
