Exactly.
That bit really stinks. McDonald did have sex with someone allegedly incapable of giving consent and has walked free. How do they make a decision like that?
That said, we have to sack Evans now.

Actually, it is partly the point of the thread. That's why I mentioned Jordan Robertson and Lee Hughes still playing. They bith actually killed people as far as I'm aware. A far greater crime than having sex with some drunk lass in terms of the implications, yet both have served their sentences and paid the price in the eyes of the law. Once Ched has done his stint he will be about 26 years old and will have been punished for his crime (if guilty, he'll have bern punished for being naiive/stupid if he isn't). Some clubs would almost definitely give him a chance.

As well as seeing if people wanted us to stick by him now, I also wondered who would want us to be one of the clubs offering him a lifeline when he gets out if his appeal fails.

The pigs in their glass houses shouldn't thtow stones, with quite a few of them calling Radio Sheff when they were linked with Lee Hughes saying "he's served his time and I'd welcome him".

I tried to work out what I would have been thinking if I had been on that jury and I actually think I would have come to the same verdict.

The situation you describe does seem a bit odd though
 
Jesus what a set of fookin drama queens on this thread, the season is tainted blah blah don't want to go to the match blah blah refund on #9 shirts, a young woman has to rebuild her life blah blah blah ................. yeah a life of snorting coke, smoking skunk getting pissed of her tits and shagging blokes she has known less than 30minutes, next she will be putting in a compo claim.................. that is as soon as the funds run low and she needs another coke hit.
From most saying there was no case to answer it is now crucify and burn Cheds body FFS get a grip people, Ched may be a piece of shit with the low morals of an alley cat but that don't for sure make him a rapist.
The lesson to be learned for any young footballer or ordinary guy on the street is next time after a few drinks if you have the urge to shag a low life druggie go online and book one of the many willing escorts better to pay £100 up front than pay for the rest of your life.
 
It is alleged that it didn't take her too long to rebuild her life as she was back out on the piss the Friday after the incident.
 
I've voted no because I can't see that the club has much choice on an official level.

But that's not to say that those within the club who know him and believe his story should walk away. If he was my friend and I believed him there would be no question.

anyone suggesting immediate cancellation of ched's contract isn't taking into account the psychological effect it would have on the other players..some of you are a fickle lot. i'm glad you aren't my mates.. if you believe some of this so much perhaps we should have the points deducted for all the games ched scored in?? aha .. thought not

Frankly, the Club should have already cancelled his contract (although I understand the taking time) and moved on. Ched's gone, and rightfully so after this conviction. Move on, and remember there is ONE victim in this whole sorry mess - the poor girl Ched just had to have. Fucking idiot.
 
SUFC are doing the right thing by waiting until all available avenues are exhausted for Ched. The usual folk will be slavering with anticipation of another huge stick with which to beat the club.

Is this 'one victim', a girl who is a known user of class A drugs, a binge drinker, someone who has 'cried wolf' before, and has the worst imaginable reputation in a very close knit town where everybody knows one another?

In this part of the world, she would be known as 'local bike', 'slapper', 'slag', 'ho', or am I getting this completely wrong and thinking about someone else?

None of what you're saying about her - and I'd love to know where you're getting your information from - detracts from the fact that Ched Evans was convicted of Rape. Regardless of her "past", a Jury saw all the evidence and agreed unanimously that Ched was guilty.

So yes, you're getting it completely wrong. She is the victim. Not Ched. Not Sheffield United. Not us, ffs. The girl, regardless of reputation or stature or any of that other bollocks. She was raped. I don't give a flying if she'd shagged 20 million blokes before that night, she has the right to say No at any time.

She was raped? What exactly are you basing that 'fact' on? What's this 'she has the right to say no' rubbish? Are you aware of any of the facts of the trial, or just trying to score some morality points?

I'm basing the "she was raped" on the fact that Ched Evans has been convicted of the crime and is currently boarding at her majesty's pleasure. Fact, whether we like it or not. And yes, I am aware of some of the talk on Twitter, which is disturbing to say the very least. That being said, until concrete evidence is provided, the facts are the facts - Ched Evans has been convicted of rape.

Wow, how brainwashed and gullible you are. Twelve amateur sleuths on a jury decide one guy raped her and the other didn't, and you swallow it.

Nine years ago, CE and CM wouldn't have even been facing a trial - how do you square that circle?

If some of the comments that have allegedly been made by, or about the young Miss after the verdict can be proved, could there possibly be a prosecution for Perjury, and if such evidence could be gleaned, could it be used in an appeal that Ched may be allowed to make?

Thank goodness we all have a right to our opinions however naive they may be. It is not difficult to delve into the information surpressed by the court, and form a more reasoned view concerning the characters of all involved,

Is Ched innocent - Yes

He may be a convicted rapist, and from the views of some on here, all it takes if for that tag to be associated with his name or anybody's name regardless if they are innocent of not, I believe he is innocent and who fell foul of a poor decision. It's a shame tho cause I truly feel he is innocent and will have no problem with him playing for united again (So long he does the business on the pitch). I just feel disgusted by some actions of fans who the second the decision was read out, suddenly decided that ched was the worse man on the planet and that the key should be thrown a way. I have two words - "grow up"

My final word on the issue is this. For all those who say we should think about the female i.e she is the victim here. Wait until you've been falsely arrested / convicted for rape and then then come back on here and tell us how you feel. Will you still be admitting that as a convicted rapist, people should throw the key away on you? I doubt you will.
 
I dont think most of the Jury would be aware of what Druggies are capable of , sorry but they are not normal people when Drugged up , maybe the fun went too far , but 5 years seems harsh at the side of many Brutal assults.

If it is the person I am thinking about did he get out on appeal ? I have vague recolections of appearing as a witness
 
Still don't understand how she could be sober enough to have sex with one man and then 5 minutes later be too drunk to consent to the other. Either they're both guilty or both innocent. Both men said she consented to having sex with Ched, so it's clear the jury didn't believe them, or thought she was too incapacitated by alcohol to make that decision, in which case then both men should have been found guilty.

Ched Evans actions after the event are a bit grubby, but they could equally apply to a man who's a bit ashamed because he's cheated on his girlfriend as well as apply to a man who's just raped someone.

Royally confused about this one to be honest, and i don't think justice has been applied correctly in this case.
