Moving away from the insults and trying to get back on track on this thread...

What's value for money though Ollie?

In his defence he's not had much game time, we already knew his fitness state when we gave him deal 1. BT has sat on the bench waiting for Wilsons nod. He's come on and hasn't looked unfit, not dragged his feet.

He has however shown a lack of discipline and it's cost him 3 games and moved him down the pecking order. But that's football. Other players come in and try to do a job, BT has to wait his turn.

I have no doubts that BT will be called upon before the end of the season and it's then that we'll see his value. Akinbadbuy scored a couple of vital goals when we got promoted, not saying that nobody else would've scored them, but he scored them.

Wilson has obviously thought its worth the gamble. It's his gamble. It's his budget. Better having 5 strikers fighting it out than just 2 or 3.

We have ched, cresswell, porter, Hoskins and BT until the end of the season, not a month or two months.

So whats the issue?

It is typical Swiss. The we  Beattie bridage,-ers of hoof and Olle bashers resort to insults, after the fail to counter my superior intelligence.

As you say, back to the thread. However I feel we are going over old ground. I already stated the NAO's amnd Treasury's definition of (good) VFM: as the optimal use of resources to achieve the intended outcomes.

We're wasting a wage on BT. Ched is banging goals in, Porter has outscored BT during his spell, as has Creswell and now Hoskins has done mor ein 1 minute than BT in several games. We do not need him. We're now wasting a salary on a has been 5th choice striker. He has showed zip on the pitch (except huge indiscipline) and even if he is on very low wages/pay as you play it has been a waste of cash. No matter how much you look at it. The money could be spent on a pacey left winger that could either offer somethign different or put a rocket up Quinn's arse. Maybe I will be proved wrong and BT will start (playing and) scoring, but at the moment there is absolutely no argument in favour of saying BT has been a decent signing or is represnting VFM.

Why why why why why why why?? Olle. You could have left it with your opinion. Fine, I have no problem with that. However where you let yourself down is with this kind of stuff. What are you trying to prove exactly? It doesn't make you big or clever.

See you post below.

Nope .....................

...... Well done, Beattie hasn't played much or had much on-field impact. However Wilson thinks he worth a contract, and for my money, I'm backing Wilson on this one. He seems to know what he's doing so far. ..........

This thread doesn't represent value for money. And it's free.

Actually, I take that back. Ollie, your words are worth exactly what I spent on reading them.

We may be going over old ground, but it was you that reignited this thread again ;)

Are you questioning the wisdom of Wilson then?

'for my money' is a commmonly used phrase Olle, not a request to partake in your version of a 1980s late night gameshow.
For the record though, 'my money' would be the money I spend on going to watch the blades. Not on stoking your ego.:(

I fear you're struggling to take my point though. You clearly are able to debate sensibly, however you then 'add-on' all these other elements, the 'ner ner ner ner ner I'm right' thing and the petty name calling, which although it may not be vulgar, nevertheless is name-calling. Assigning 'humourous' labels to things/people is that.

At this point I shall give up, getting through to you is like trying to teach a goldfish algebra.

Yes, I appreciate that is a little hypocrytical. Hey ho.

:(

Yes, in this small situation I am. In the grand scheme of things i think Wilson is doign very well. Most of his signings have been good and he has got the best out of players previously at the club. However I don't think signing BT was a good move. Perhaps Wilson bowed to the pressure and/or did not want to upset fans, perhaps he believed the hype or just sees it as a no lose situation. Dunno. Still, I question as to whether we need 5 strikers, when our squad is fairly light on the ground (no pace, one winger, no CB cover). Same as I question the logic of brining in Williams (when we have 2 other left backs and he is not that good anyway).

Don't be sad owd mucker. I have taken your point. I am probably going to ignore it, but it has got through to me.

I wonder if BT was actually scoring whether some of the Olle knockers might be bumping this thread back up and rubbing my face in it?!

In that situation, I'm sure you'd be the first one to bump it to announce you were wrong. You'd do it just as many times as you've claimed to have been right, too.

I guess its a perception thing then.

Wilson was under no pressure to bring him in for anything other than footballing reasons. I honestly don't think that Wilson would've taken the risk, because there is more to lose (like Bent last season).

Having striking options is never a bad thing and before we got Hoskins in, we had just Porter, Ched and Cresswell. Now we have another 2 for the run in and we now have some great options to pick from.

If Weir signs then we'll end up with a more than adequate CB cover and where is this one winger thing that you talk about?

I question as to whether we need 5 strikers

I believe that we have the right amount of strikers now. Case in point we were still able to name 2 as subs that may have been needed to change the game on Sat even though BT was suspended. Lets say that Cresswell is suspended and Porter injured that would only leave 1 striker for the bench.

Come on then BT. Prove Olle wrong. Give Highbury, Darren and the rest of them to try and win some pride back ..... and the pints they owe me of course.

Oh dear, oh dear.

Never beyond my wildest dreams (or nightmares) did I think that Beattie would be this much of a waste of money .....

To be fair tonight the one good move we had first half was created by Beattie, Any one of the attack minded players could have been replaced. Quinn and Cressy turned the game

ably assisted by williamson who assumed the k mac role with ease.. agree cressy was awesome tonight though
scunny played well first half.. that toerag duffy was a player
huge huge win

Perhaps fans will finally start appreciating Cresswell's role (and adoring Beattie) ......

Time to release the 'hero'. Wilson is a smart guy. He has sussed that mr VFM is not up to it and it is time to sned him on his bike. Wasting money on a 5th choice striker, being outscored by Chris Porter.

* bump *

will Beattie finally get his long awaited goal tonight???

It's attack or bust .... and it is only fooking Walsall. Forget about that fall over the ball (and embarassing appeall for a foul .... despite there being noone within a couple of yards) and get em banged in! Prove me wrong FFS!
