Playing games isn’t he ?Then surely he could have simply said, 'I've had no contact from anyone as it stands'

TBF my guess would be that Hecky would take up the DoF role for us at some point before the end of his contract.Hecky probably would love DoF position.. I can’t see Dyche jumping for Utd job though, when Watford/Everton/promoted sides probably have an opening soon & better budget.

In a way, the worst thing we did was finish 9th. Had we succumbed to relegation honourably in our first season as most reasonably expected I have no doubt that we'd have bounced up far better last season, augmenting our squad with clever signings. What we did instead was try and shoehorn expensive high potential but callow young players into an overperforming side which was fraying at the seams. We didn't need Berge and Brewster for a combined £40m, we needed four £10m signings instead.Wilder did similar with us every season. Not saying whether he would stay and not ruling out going to another club. I presume it's to put pressure on the board to give him what he wants. Obviously our terrible results meant the tactic wasn't as effective in the final season and that's probably why he's not here anymore.
Its not black and white with Wilder. He was absolutely incredible with us and is the main reason why we are a top end Championship side rather than a mid table L1 club. I wouldn't even blame him for the relegation from The Premier League. Our entire rise was built on sand and realistically it couldn't be sustained without spending much more than we did.
That said I think The Prince had every right to believe he had given Wilder enough to fashion a side that could bounce straight back. £120m is a huge amount at Championship level and we should have been able to build a squad with that sort of money that got straight back up with barely any new signings. Maybe Wilder would have done just that but he either walked out or was sacked for publically calling out the board about money. I get the feeling Wilder knew a lot of these players couldn't reach the heights of the promotion season and wanted to rebuild while The Prince likely thought we'd given enough money out in terms of fees and wages to expect promotion with little more investment.
They don’t have to be but it’s the mentality that someone like Ched can be revered but Wilder is to be despised. It’s not cool to like Wilder anymore. Are the two mutually exclusive?

^^^^^this. I think the close season in the Prem was the only time he didn’t do it. (Might be wrong) It does seem to be his modus operandi.I do wonder if it's just the old Wilder routine of getting himself a better contract to stay at the Boro?

Aye, I remember that now and thinking how weird but was sort of used to it by then. I was starting to think maybe he was the source of these rumours every close season. Like he, apparently (rumour heard) used to phone in to Radio Sheffield praising his efforts. He was weirdly linked with West Brom the season we went up
Hotel managerGot to be a role for Ched somewhere in the set up surely

He used to phone radio Sheffield when he was a player apparently..
that’s what I’d heard. Pity I never said that clearly. Thanks Tezza1889
Well my Burnley supporting mate, who is reasonably well connected, has just told me that it appears to be between Wilder and Bilic for the vacant managers job.
He also told me that Burnley have laid a load of staff off since the take over and are having some difficulty in paying the wages to the ones that remain.
I can see why Wilder may appeal to them, but I can't for the life of me see how Burnley would appeal to Wilder.

West Brom baulked at his wage demands.. allegedly..He was weirdly linked with West Brom the season we went up
Whatever the reason for not shutting down the rumours, Wilder certainly does know how to create disharmony between himself and the board.
Northampton, Sheffield United and now Boro.
Maybe West Brom were wise to stay away after all...
It was the DoF that was gonna set wilder on at Wba but the owner who is a business acquaintance of the princes put an end to it after hearing what a Mardy arse wilder isWest Brom baulked at his wage demands.. allegedly..
Yeah he used to phone (pretending to be a fan) in and say how great he'd played and that he shouldn't be dropped...
Seems he's still telling everybody how great he is.![]()
Apparently the world is made of cheese and full of gullible people, who believe what their told in a pub, by someone who pretends they know something. And then they pass it on, because they want to believe it,and it becomes a fact. It’s true, I’m sure of it, someone told me in a pub.He used to phone radio Sheffield when he was a player apparently..

I’m rarely ITK but my account is similar to yours, was Wilders biggest fan until a Baggie who knows stuff explained things. It was the DoF that was gonna set wilder on at Wba but the owner who is a business acquaintance of the princes put an end to it after hearing what a Mardy arse wilder is

Burnley is like Paris in springtime compared to the Vegas of the north .. BoroYou know he is in Middlesbrough don’t you?

This is quite simple:I can see why Wilder may appeal to them, but I can't for the life of me see how Burnley would appeal to Wilder.
Very possiblyMaybe he hasn’t been approached by Burnley but he wants to be ?
