.
At the end of the day, a striker's primary objective is to score goals.

Fact of the matter is that we will always have at least two striking options on the bench if not three in some cases so very rare will both strikers be required to complete 90 minutes.

You can't get away from the fact that Mousset is impactful. 3 goals in 291 minutes is a strike rate streets ahead of anyone else:

Sharp - 1,645 minutes, 7 goals. 6 assists.
Mousset - 291 minutes, 3 goals.
Brewster - 778 minutes, 3 goals.
McGoldrick - 831 minutes. 2 goals. 4 assists.
McBurnie - 410 minutes, 0 goals. 1 assist.

Let's not cut our noses to spite our face here. Even if he improved his 'gym fitness' we'll then be told he needs matches. Surely 20 mins here and there and a few U23 games will only help him.

He's out most dangerous striker when he plays. McBurnie's life choices have cost us plenty of minutes he could have played, so let's be consistent here.

Get him on the bench. Perfect to replace Brewster and continues the onslaught of pace. You bring on McBurnie or McGoldrick and you immediately lose that. Who else scores the goal he got vs Barnsley?

Glad I went back a page or two to read this, because this is exactly what I think, but I couldn't have put it better than you..

All this negotiating, I wish they would just be honest, and publish how much we need to pay them to take him!

I think, send him out on loan, see how he gets on, then decide whether or not to take the year option.....
He might get back to some sort of player with 10/15 games and then a preseason in him, if not, then we dont renew and take the £10m hit.
The good news is that it's no longer a £10m hit.

Assuming we paid that for him, we've already written off 5/6ths of that amount as he's 2 1/2 years into his 3 year deal.

So he's on our books at circa £1.6m currently.

He's been a failed signing so we just have to take this one in the chin and move on.

He's not in the plans . Time to go
The more we can offload the better.
Seems his heart and heads not been in it
How do you know he's not in his plans!.
It looks like he's told him to get fit ! really it's his last chance no team will take an unfit player.
He hasn't qualities we need.
Let's se if Hecki can get him firing ,if so he will be a big asset

Unfortunately theres not much left of our chin though!

If he does go this window or in the summer, please do not let him go to 'The Widlers' Boro. If he went there and somehow started playing most games and knockin them in for fun (after tossing it off for 3 years at the Lane) I think I would weep.

how many chances does he want
players have a duty to keep fit
sorry but we dont need players who cant self motivate or fight for the cause
hes got talent but bournemouth too had to unload him
if we get a million be a result on the last years showing and him going for free at the end of this season looming

He was also only ever going to cost us £10m if the stars aligned, ie he scored loads of goals, win the Ballon d'Or and played for France. You get my drift...I'd be surprised if we've paid Bournemouth more than £5-6m for him.

Let's go balls deep and get him and mcburnie chomping at the bit for the play offs in may

He was worth the money. The goal against Man utd and arsenal etc. Valuable goals in our best season in living memory.
You can justify this when you say that we spent 10m to get another PL season and he contributed to that with some important interventions - Everton (3), Man U (1), Arsenal (3), West Ham (1), Wolves (1), Spurs (3) were 12 valuable points his goals contributed towards (I know the points weren't all because of him) plus his triple assist vs Burnley (3) and other assist vs Bournemouth (3) made him a firm contributor directly to 18 points.

Unfortunately, once he did help to secure that second season, I'm just not sure us pissing a second 60m up the wall helps the justification sit quite so comfortably!

At least we got something out of him. Look at Wednesday. It doesn't feel like they got anything at all out of Rhodes for similar money.

If we have an option, we can always trigger it if a move does add value.

After all, la Piraterie n'est jamais fini! 🏴‍☠️

Deal includes as much pasta as he can eat.

This'll be a done deal if somebody tells him Nutella is made in Italy..

Sheffield United's Mousset set for Serie A move

Sheffield United striker Lys Mousset is close to signing for Serie A’s bottom club Salernitana.
The Italian side are expected to pay a fee of around £330,000 to sign Mousset for the rest of his current contract – which expires in the summer – in a bid to help them stay in Italy’s top flight.
The ex-Bournemouth player is expected in Salerno on Sunday to complete the move.
Salernitana and Mousset will talk about the possibility of continuing their partnership at the end of the season.

Sky Sports reporting he will be in Italy on Sunday to finalise the move. Quoted £330,000 loan fee till end of season, not sure if that includes wages.
