we will possibly make the play offs without any new players

if we sell any we will replace with others
its how weve traded since 1960

we need to move on at least 5 to 7

we have never not brought in players
and from what Ive read on here theres plenty many will be happy to go so dont see the problem

if we win the play offs we will have 150m to spend so dont get too down

Don’t know what to make of it all yet just hope we don’t go in to league one again anything above that’s as bonus with current situation imo.

Ye we'll replace them with frees and loans who aren't as good which is the problem.

We won't win the play offs unfortunately fella.

That depends on who spends it !!!!

It's like the club only start looking once the window actually opens. Fuck knows what those in charge of recruitment do for the other 10 months of the year.
They get ready for the summer transfer window

As much as Paul Mitchell needs to take some serious stick for some bad signings he has nothing to do with what’s mentioned. Him and his team identify players, they will compile all the stats possible, all the info on the player, videos etc etc. these recommendations are then passed on to the manager, bettis, chairman etc. Mitchell will have nothing to do with get the players in and deals over the line, he doesn’t even talk to players he’s just scouting.

Let's see where we are when the window closes.

But this should have been the easiest window to negotiate:

1. Don't sell anyone crucial to the team - we haven't.
2. Offload anyone who isn't - Verrips, Slater, Burke.
3. Let Olsen go and replace him - Done.
4. Get one centre half who can cover Egan and Bash - Pending.
5. Replace Davies if he is unavailable for some time - seems not required.
6. Replace any key players that leave - see point 1. Not required so far.

I know some will say we want other midfield options but we have Fleck, Norwood, Hourihane, Berge, Osborn, Guedioura, so that isn't happening unless some of those leave.

The concern for me is missing gettable options to solve the only realistic open requirement.

Hill made a choice to live on the South Coast. No issue on that one.

Souttar decided to stay in Scotland to be with family who are unwell. No issue on that one.

Dion Sanderson, this one I don't get. Unless QPR has guaranteed playing time, then, I don't see how we didn't just tie this up and close the requirement. We have a good relationship with Wolves and we even went there a fortnight ago. How hard could that have been to fix up?

This shouldn't be that hard.

Timm Klose had just joined Bristol City on a free.

Another unattached player, Winston Reid, is currently playing in World Cup qualifiers for New Zealand. He was with West Ham, mainly in the PL for a decade. He got over a bad injury and played the last dozen games for Brentford including the Play Off final. At 33, he's 6 years younger than Jags, who in hindsight we probably should have kept. Someone like that would do a job until May.

I'm just not sure hanging on a domino effect with Liverpool is the way to go.

Bussiness will be done in the last few days..

Absolutely right.

Those with short memories need to re listen to the PA interview with YorkBlade he clearly stated that the options at the end of the window are far better than at the start because better players become avaliable as the window closes, the deals are better and so are the players that become available.

We've been told the way we're gonna work regarding transfers by the owner himself..

For all the faults attributed to him rightly or wrongly, I've not heard anything from him that he didn't back up, just a shame we don't hear anything from him at all these days..

"James Beattie has the flu"

Remember how it used to go?

Seems like the owners gave it one big shot with Chris- he completely fucked it up with the worst signings ever. now they have disinterest, they are not avid followers like us- they are business folk that put a scarf around their necks for a photo shoot - deep down it means nothing. Losing a 2-0 lead to Preston - hurts us deep, not them - it's a score on Live Scores.

We desperately need 2 players a centre back and a good midfielder- what we will get is 2 crappy loans.

Hecky has done well so far - but he's a patsy- he ain't rocking no boat.

If Heckingbottom didn’t sound so resigned to bringing no one in I’d be less worried. Recruitment and money seems to be a recurring bone of contention between our ownership and our team manager.

I think you have hit the nail squarely on the head with this, points 1, 2 and 3

Is there a video of Mooesfat munching pies whilst driving a very expensive car very badly ?

There certainly won't be one of him managing to last 90 minutes playing football or a run of games without being injured.

Few points a lot seem struggle to grasp.

1) We need to cut costs and are unable to recruit without players leaving
2) We need to reshape the squad, but this is difficult (see point 1 and 3)
3) January is notoriously difficult and expensive for recruitment
4) A few big contracts are up in the Summer, this will see a bigger shake up

I actually don't think anyone on this board is struggling to grasp this. Everyone seems to see what the situation is, and is resigned to it.

PH recently confirmed our interest in Souttar and Hill. Both of these deals would have been permanent I assume, although Souttar could have been a pre-contract agreement.

We’re now just focusing on a loan. If we were considering permanent deals a few weeks ago, I wonder why it’s now strictly a loan signing (assuming we make one).

doesnt it always
are you saying ndiaye and gibbs white are representative of the rubbish we can get now
Not at all, but the last manager with substantial funds to spend isn’t responsible for those two.
More importantly I hope that any future manager is better advised/ controlled when it comes to buying expensive players.
A balance between spending what we have and will have AND bringing through young players AND finding “hidden” talent is the way forward. None of those three alone will be successful for us.

Either because there are no long term prospects available to us or there is insufficient time to agree a long term purchase.

we blew a lot of money that wasnt value for the money we spent

hopefully theres signs Brewster can redeem some of his cost
we can break even more orb less selling Berge who doesnt fit in
but thats the past
lets see how it pans out
I will amazed if there isnt some movement , and possibly quite a few changes by feb 1st and then by the loan window
