I got slated on here at the start of the season when I said the recruitment side of things wasn’t up too it. CW always mentions Paul Mitchell about the recruitment drive. It’s failing massively!

We needed some pace up top for an out ball and bought a small slow striker in Brewster!

I would be looking towards the recruitment team with some serious questioned being asked.

Wilder wanted these players.
We were crying out for creative midfielder, some pace up top. These weren’t addressed

We needed a LCB and this never got addressed, it’s just all so fucked up!

I don't pretend to know exactly how the recruitment is structured at the Lane, but it's reasonable to suggest on the basis of recent windows that we may need some added input and experience, and that the management should accept it.

The gaffer has enough on his plate with the mental side of preparing and playing matches against top sides. The relentless nature of having to set your side up for each new challenge of world class players, is undoubtedly mentally tiring.

Many have remarked that Wilder doesn't have the same spark that he has 12 months ago and, to be fair, it's hardly surprising. It must wear managers down having to fight against better resources most of the time. Look at Eddie Howe or before that, Wagner at Huddersfield. It's too much to expect the manager to drive all of the transfers as well as the playing side, at this level.

"We are no closer,” said Heckingbottom.
"It’s frustrating, obviously, but we’re no closer.
"There’s been lots of different reasons why we’ve not got one over the line, whether that’s players changing their minds or competition from other clubs, money, us being a little bit slow and letting someone else nip in.
"There’s been a combination of a lot of things.”

Paul Mitchell just please f*ck off now, its getting beyond a joke

Do we know that this is solely down to Paul Mitchell?

None of the things mentioned are down to Paul Mitchell

Doesn't matter - we all know its the blades way - not a surprising comment in Hecky`s post . We could all have wrote what he has put as soon as the press conf finished

Fuck knows we're we are going to end up with this lot running the show!!

Paul Mitchell to my knowledge is the talent spotter. Getting players over the line is the job of someone else; Bettis, Carl Shieber (is he still there?) and ultimately it's down to the wages we offer, the transfer fee we're willing to pay and at present I would imagine we're not going to be paying transfer fees to players as a whole, unless very small such as Adam Davies. But if we get an injury to Egan we're screwed, he could do his hamstring in Tuesday's training session and who is the back-up then?! It's worrying that the board are willing to let this happen, it happened before with no cover for JOC and we all know how that happened. All very poor and I don't blame Hecky in this.

This is also a legacy from the lack of investment in the training ground because that can't help in recruiting players. Essentially we need more from Berge and McBurnie as these guys are where all our investment has gone, rightly or wrongly. Brewster needs to continue improving/getting in the team.

Glad we have a workforce of 800 across blades world to support this positive recruitment drive.

Us being a little slow sentence doesn’t make my piss book though

It's all about cost cutting and downsizing now,we had a goalie and a centre half who knew the club and culture, and who we let go in the last window, both went to EFL rivals. We replaced the goalie with someone unsuitable who didn't fit the club, resulting in us having to 're replace, and still not replaced the centre half.

People on here talking like there's a recruitment policy
There isn't one

If a midfielder us too expensive, buy a left back who played in midfield once when the teams first choice left back was playing and there was an injury crisis in midfield

Players are picked in the same way that a botch up tradesman picks his materials and tools

Screws too expensive?
bang some nails in

Tape measure too expensive?
guess.......it'll be close enough, and if your hanging a picture the holes drilled in the wrong place will be covered up anyway

Totally agree. Seems like we might get a last minute loan if any are available and that will be it. Then sell as many with any value as we can in summer and replace with frees and loans. A bit like when we went down under Blackwell/Speed/Adams 👌
