well I dont get how standing up for the club rather than trying to destroy it with constant slagging off makes me the troll

Im sorry if Im a bit too positive for you by thinking we do have a future no matter what
I SUPPORT my club I dont look for the worst in every move the club makes

the parachute money diminishes at the same rate our wage bill should drop
we will relese several on big money wages and have a smaller outlay
Again, you just talk bollocks.

There's a difference between supporting the club and pretending that we've got money when we haven't. I can stick my fingers in my ears and pretend it's all going to be fine, that's not support though, it's delusion.

You keep pretending though, like I've said before, it must be amazing living in cloud cuckoo land.

He complained yesterday in the press conference,2 of his complaints were about being "too slow" and "money",so who are we going to sell in less than a week to fund an incoming centre half?
Hecky wants to be careful what he says and tow the boards line, Slav complained and look we're it got him!

Yes folks we are doomed, we are all doomed the profit has told us so,
We've never had it so bad so lets all hold hands and jump of a cliff....
.
It's the rhythm of life for most footballs fans and believe me, there's a hell of a lot of football fans out there who would just love their team to change places with us....

In fact there's one just down the road........;)

With TV broadcasting money, ticket and hospitality revenue increasing, parachute payments, wage cuts due to relegation clauses, we've spent f*ck all on facilities. I just dont buy 'we're skint'. people say transfer fees...okay, so what did our money go on for getting promotion to prem, or the money we got for finishing 9th, because i guarantee that money covered our transfer money. Its a load of sh*t

Although we appear to have “mortgaged” our parachute payments and other secured income, we don’t appear to have charged it all.
We continue to have large crowds and other significant sources of income, so, despite our heavy outgoings I don’t think the club is short of money.
Clearly the last season in the Premiership wasted millions of pounds, but we still have those players who may become more valuable than they were a month back.
There will be money in the summer, but not to buy £20m players !!
Thanks

I asked for your rationale and you gave it

Agreed, I was hoping it would be more like £20m but I'd not factored in the drop in merit payments so well done for pointing that out.

Much easier to just pretend it will all go away though and that we're fine.

Bizarrely this season should be better with the Ramsdale sale and the drop in wages, but after this year it will be awful with the diminishing parachute money.
Here's one I made earlier. This has come up before...

‘Skint’ and ‘doomed’ aren’t the same thing.

I’m far from abandoning the club because our owner hasn’t left us with a pot to piss in, it’s just stating a fact.

I know we’ve had worse but pointing out the reality isn’t an attack on the club.

History says we spent 120m in 2 seasons but lets just ignore that for the sake of argument. A lot of the big earners will go and the wage bill will drop and we will still get parachute payments. Yes some or most of what we sell will arrive slowly but it should suffice
The board put the income straight into recruitment 2 years and a year ago yet you doubt they will do so
.
I feel like next season is going to be a major disappointment for you

Well I look at it like this McCabe couldn't afford to run the club alone and I would say him and the Prince are fairly close on wealth. McCabe and the Prince together were only just able to run the club enough to roughly break even. Without Premier league money the Prince alone can't afford to run this club I reckon he will sell up before the parachute payments stop, unless we somehow manage another promotion he will be gone in 18 months, that or we will be in league one.

where have you got these figures from?
A fair amount of estimation. Some of the info is in the public domain but wages etc are guesswork. FWIW I assumed a 40% reduction on relegation and a £20k/week increase for everyone signing a new contract in the PL.

This is broadly aligned to my day job so while the numbers aren't accurate the directional will be.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
yes we need 5 wins in 21 games to reach 51 points , we are going down
we will possibly make the play offs without any new players
but hecky said at the beginning of the month business would be done in the last few days

do keep up

Yes, outgoing business
There has to be the "No time to replace them" excuse

The only thing that rattles my cage, is how the hell can someone spend all that money and finish up with a worse team than they started with ?

When a club gets promoted to the Premier League and cannot even begin to think any higher than, Rodwell, Morrison, Jagielka, Freeman, Robinson, Robinson 2, Osborn, Verrips, Retsos, Zivkovic, Burke, Bogle, Lowe, Ampadu and Foderingham then you're asking for trouble.

15 players who contributed between very little and absolutely fuck all

Without mentioning the more adventurous signings who also contributed practically nothing.

Truth is, if we'd kept a forward line of Clarke, Hogan, Madine and Sharp we'd have probably done just as well.
And our midfield would have been better if Dowell and Duffy had stayed

The club wouldn't recognise talent if it bit them on the arse

I think our business is done until the summer unless there is one last surprise.
I wouldn't expect much in the summer either.

We just have a large amount of players. And Chris went from penny wise to pound foolish.

If we assume that the loanees go back and those not playing frequently don't get a new deal, but those playing regularly do. You still have this without signing anyone new:

G: Foderingham, Davies
RWB: Bogle, Baldock
CB: Bash(n/c), Egan, O'Connell, Gordon, Lopata
LWB: Stevens, Lowe, Norrington-Davies (could fill in LCB)
CM/AM: Norwood, Fleck, Berge, Coulibaly, N'Diaye
CF: Brewster, Jebbison, McBurnie, Sharp(n/c), Burke

I'm assuming at minimum Bash and Billy end up with new deals.

22 players already. Just like this season loan a centre back to cover, get another midfielder on loan of decent quality, pick which youngster becomes your third keeper and you have a 25 man squad already.

Then it's just a question of replacing anyone that leaves. If McBurnie leaves, then maybe McGoldrick gets another year or you go for someone else.

This is notwithstanding the raft of other U23s who will be a year wiser and can supplement this.

The quality might be a different discussion.

I'm not expecting much at all incoming but we are oversubscribed in a few positions and really do need to trim the squad down. A lot of the back up should be coming from the under 23 squad. I think we could lose both Baldock and Stevens, question marks against Fleck and Berge lose Norwood. Definately lose Burke and still cover those positions with one or two signings and U23 players. I still think we could recoup some money on Baldock and Berge the others we would save on wages if they went for little or nothing. Sadly I'm not sure we will ever see the return of the JOC of old we could well need to bring in a CB with experience.

You raise a valid argument. The issue is very much that we didn't have to spend that way. As you say we chose to bring in 15 players. We could have brought in fewer of a higher quality.

Like a one day millionaire spending money as if it didn't matter.

I would've kept Madine but not Hogan and Clarke.
I also wouldn't have signed McB or Berge but got Brewster and John Swift (from Reading) with a couple of loans for cover.
That would have saved us circa £50M.
The problem is that you can never guarantee how successful signings will be. Wilder signed young talent with potential to be interested over a period of time in the PL.
Covid hit just as we had our most success in recent history.
Show me a successful manager and I'll show you their list of failed signings.

I don’t think we can say we are skint or that we have money. At present we just didn’t know, but my measured guess is that we are financially stable, haven’t charged all our future income and will have money available for acquisitions in the summer.
In the unlikely event we get promoted this year we will no doubt spend what we are due to receive, but hopefully on better quality purchases than last time.
I don’t think this view is from cloud cuckoo land, but it may be inaccurate.

Klopp, but we have one of his failures on loan !

I believe we have charged next season’s income already. I’m not sure about the year after.

That’s my understanding and we have other money due to us as well as money that we may owe for acquisitions

Our financial situation applies to every club that’s relegated from the PL apart from Norwich.

I know hindsight is useful but if we get promoted back to the PL then maybe the Norwich model is best, accept instant relegation and slowly acclimatise to the increased revenues so when a team is relegated they still have plenty of finances to strengthen in the Championship.

The irony is it’s our ambition whilst in the PL spending 110 mil over 2 seasons and giving out big contracts has proven to be our downfall.
