He was in the behind the scenes video briefly when Ben Davies was singing. He was on the bike in the gym. Must just be getting on with his rehab

Honestly I thought it was Burke on the machine but now watched it again and it is JOC.

Hope he’s back in time for next season going to be a really tricky situation for all involved. Could be back fit and in his last year of contract.

Has the potential to become one of the biggest villains in the eyes of blades fans(no not gone to villa)

All hypothetical of course

How so? I wouldn’t begrudge him suing the club if he was misdiagnosed and played when he shouldn’t have.

In other words: “We’ve absolutely no idea if or when he’ll be back and he hasn’t been anywhere near the club for months. But he is popping in next week on silly jumper and Secret Santa day, so that will be nice. I’ve heard great things about his spiced rum mince pies”.

Not so sure many would see it that way.

Think many would see it as a player has been supported and paid by the club for 2 years to then leave on a free. Has it even been confirmed that he was misdiagnosed, and there is an animosity?

That is the rumour that is going around but I don't think Jack would still be coming in if that was the case though.

Enda Stevens was misdiagnosed initially with his recent injury problems and I seem to think there were suggestions of a misdiagnosis when Berge first got injured, but could be wrong. I don’t think it’s a major leap to think O’Connell could be in the same boat.

Yes Enda was for sure, PH also said they sent Brewster off for a second opinion too. So I agree its not beyond the realms that JOC was also misdiagnosed, just curious as to whether it has been confirmed. Funnily enough United world are advertising for a First team Physio for the Blades on LinkedIn today

Won't be seen as anything other than a Blades hero in my eyes. One of the main men during our most successful recent period. Always gives his all when fit and available...and a damn good player as well!
If he's been misdiagnosed and it's ended his career, he'd be right to sue. If he regains fitness and ends up leaving on a free then that's unfortunate - no fault of the player or club. I'm sure Jack wouldn't choose to be on the sidelines for two years and the club would be daft to extend the contract of a player who might not regain full fitness.

A fit JOC last season and we would have made a much better go at staying up in the PL.

The situation behind the scenes with medical staff seems to be a big cause for concern at the moment.

Honestly dont think we would have got relegated from the PL if a fit and firing JOC had been dominant defensively and marauding down the left flank.

He was imo the one vital piece in the whole 352 set up that could'nt be replaced and consequently the whole system unfortunately became completely disfunctional.

We were never going to outplay teams in the Prem, we didnt have the quality to dominate the established sides, but by playing as a defensively organised tight-knit, fit group of players with a proper system based on a bit of a revolutionary way of overloading teams - it just worked.

O'Connell was the epitomy of that unique way of playing and if he (hope and pray) ever does get back in a red and white shirt the crowd will blow the roof off at the Lane!

The way I’d see it is that he’s suing a specialist who is employed by the club. And who should rightfully be punished. I’m as much Sheffield United as any said specialist but he’s not suing me. I know I might be in the minority with that I just think it’d be the right thing to do for him. He’s hardly been a top earner but was arguably at a stage in his career where he was about to become one.

All hypothetical of course.

Yep. And he just know that given how it all turned to shit around the same time he got injured.

Wasn't worth 10-15 additional points. We'd stopped scoring goals around Xmas 2019.

Impossible to know the true effect a fully fit JOC would gave had, you could argue his presence and the solidity of the defence, wouldn't have added as much pressure onto Berge, Brewster or any of the strikers, scraping a few 1-0 wins or even draws us obviously better than trying to score 2,3 or more to get something out of a game

If he's been misdiagnosed by someone who has either been employed by the club or referred him to , then he has every right to sue. In the first instant that would be the club. Second the person/company, but the club would have to take some responsibility as it's their job to protect their employees.

I think we all know that a fully firing JOC would have got a good big money move to somewhere like Everton. So it's not just alright to say he's still being paid so what the problem?

It doesn’t really matter either way, if he sues and wins it won’t be the club or doctor paying out, it would be the insurance company.

It's a strange one, but Chelsea may be doing something similar with Chilwell where he has ACL damage but they're trying to let it heal naturally rather than going straight for surgery.

Clearly in JOCs it didn't work if that's what we did.

Jesus, there's some selfish heatless fuckers on this thread.

I'm sure JOC is more concerned about his career and whether he will ever play again rather than whether he stays with us or leaves for someone else.....

We were a terrible PL team. A good at that level CB doesn't fix that. Our defensive performance from 19/20 was always hugely unlikely to be repeated. We did nothing to address our inability to create chances

Saying that though the club has paid him wages and for his treatment for two years … if he does one somewhere and starts playing again it would be bad on his part imo
