Sensible IMO. He’s a talent but I can’t see him playing 40+ games this year. Minutes under his belt in competitive action is the most important thing for his development. Stick a recall clause in. He hopefully has a successful, confidence boosting League 1 season, and bags a few against the pigs. Win/win.

Jebbison is already head and shoulders above Moose, Brew Dog and McB.

Rooney and Milner played Prem from 16.

Slav the Impaler will use him and create our new Deano.

You don’t win anything with Kids - NOT!!

Magic doesn’t depend on your date of birth.
He’s not. Not yet…

I think he’d gain more from training with the first team here under Slav rather than playing at Sunderland in league one. But there we go.
Competitive matches are completely different gravy to training. Hence, the meltdown about our (lack of) preseason matches. He’s much better served in a starting 11 in League 1 than our bench and U23s.

Sunderland’s a weird one. It’s not a normal club. Toxic as fuck. I can’t think of a player that’s gone there and gone onto better things past 3 or 4 years

He will tear League one a new arsehole, superb signing for Sunderland and great move for him as long as he gets the starts

Are they still a basket case they did ok last season finished 4th.
Aye
New owners
New(ish) gaffer - Johnson - plays ‘football’ - got rid of a lot of dead wood / poison (piggy Maguire) & bringing in ‘his own men’ - some old / experienced (injury prone ?!) heads - Pritchard / (Corey) Evans McGeady (who apparently made “most” of Wykes goals last season ) & Ross Stewart up top should provide lots of opportunities (& advice) to DJ
Most ( proper) Slumderland supporters I know are (now) jaded & pessimistic (realistic) - think SUFC < CWAK (for Madkins read Parkinson !) so unlikely to be vast amounts of pressure / expectation as they’ve ‘shed’ 10/15 k ‘plastics’ who will likely only return if they do well (better) which by definition likely means DJ is doing well (OK)
Reckon a loan until New Year is canny for us & them (& DJ !) & then re-appraise

I’ll be massively disappointed if he spends the season at the Mackems then immediately gets sold to a bigger club next summer, with us seeing very little of his talent.

The most likely scenario if he does well and we’ve gone up is that we’ll be able to keep him. If he does well and we don’t go up then several of our bigger names will be sold so he’ll have a starting spot in the Championship and contract extension. Given our approach to sales this year I can’t see us cashing in on the kids if we think they have a future with us. Not being in league one makes a huge difference.

If this goes through, this will be a HUGE loan for them, lad has BAGS of potential. I'm sad he isn't playing here, tbh.

Why are we talking of selling him if we do not go up?
he is contracted to us for I believe another three years with a possible extension for one more. If we were to sell him he would only be loaned to a championship team therefore keep him, he continues his development and we reap any financial reward if and when we do sell him

I don’t mind him going on loan just wish it was to a nicer club. Oh well.
Nicer club?! Sunderland are one of the biggest clubs in the country, they may be in League One but I can't think of a better club for him to go to from us. He'll get used to playing for a big club and a demanding fan base - just like ours. Johnson plays good football and they should score plenty of goals this season.

I remember the atmosphere at the Lane in League One was toxic at times but once it took off it is an intimating place for away teams. It's a perfect fit for Jebbo in my view. I'd much rather him go there than say a run of the mill League One club as it's not the going to replicate what it's like playing for United when he returns.

Those saying that they'd rather him staying here - we've got 8 forwards, nine if you include Tyler Smith, Jebbo would best develop by a loan spell and starting every week or coming off the bench and playng 20 minutes and trying to force his way in, for us he'll have to compete just to come off the bench over say Brewster and Sharp. He'll develop most from game time and getting used to playing for a demanding club.

Plus the excellent facilities he’ll have access to at Sunderland and he’ll get to work under Johnson who whilst he might be a flawed manager is apparently a good coach and helped Abraham to establish himself at senior level.

This is definitely the sort of subtle imagery clubs use for players they're about to send to the conference/Sunderland

Turns out that is the sort of subtle imagery clubs use for players they're sending out on loan to Sunderland.

I agree. Think this would be the perfect loan for him, though I would prefer a 6 month loan so that we retain a certain degree of control and can call him back to evaluate him in January to see how things are going with his development and chat with the lad. All things going well, he can go back out on loan for the 2nd half of the season and we can bring him back to play for us next season when he isn't so raw. He has undoubted potential but I want to see some of the rough edges taken off and him learning the ropes with another club allowing him to make any mistakes with them, and not us.

In 12 months time Sharp and Didzy are probably coming to the end of their time with us whilst we will have a clearer picture on the rest of the front lads and who is staying re McBurnie, Brewster and Moose.

He isn’t rapid, although some on here already have him as the next Ronaldo (Nazario) and ripping up league one.
In my view if he gets 12 league goals in league one he will have done amazing well.
If Sunderland are top 4 and he's starting every week I can see him doing really well. 15+
