Steve Cowans new book

I can relate to football violence but don't advocate it at all, seen some awful acts of it from the late 60's through the 70's and into the 80's. But saying that someone who writes about it is ; well some of the names been called on here is not on. What next ;do we start burning books we don't agree with?. If it's your interest; buy it; if not I've got the full set of Lee Childs Jack Reacher books you can borrow. These can be on the violent side though.

Spot on the guy has got a story or few to tell, some people will really enjoy his books others won't. I've got a bit of a thing for books on cartels /drug smuggling etc does that mean I'm a wrongun? Should I stop buying them as it means I'm a massive druggie (never touched drugs by the way just interested in this subject since my backpacking days and numpties getting caught) As for people having a pop at ex blades associating with Cowens or going to his book launch I don't see the problem here in regards to ex players turning up. Can you not have mates if your an ex hoolie?, could it be that they actually like the bloke and get on with him but at the same time don't advocate his past terrace exploits. As far as I can gather the latest book is about his love of Sheffield United and football something most of us on this forum can associate with.
 
BBC book came out when I was about 16. Found it interesting then but probably not the sort of thing I’d bother with today. This was at a time when the only Blades content was Tony Pritchett in the Star, Look North. There was very little to read from a fan point of view other than one or two books and the BU forum.

I think at the time pretty much every club had somebody bringing out a similar book and films like the Football Factory came along as well to cash in. There was more or less a wall full of them in HMV along with the ‘Bad Slags’ type Cockney gangster titles. I guess the appeal is the same as any true crimetype stuff like Mr Nice, Narcos or whatever (obviously the quality of this stuff varies wildly).

I understand the new book is a more universal “ups and downs of being a Blade” type affair. Already got enough of those gathering dust as having a 2 year old I don’t get the luxury of being able to sit and read a book.

As for the launch night I’m sure everybody going will have a good drink and a good time and there will be loads of saying things “you can’t say anymore” but didn’t really appeal to me, especially the CW love in. Wrong time as we are getting ready for a new season with a new man in charge.

Fucks up with you ,he's just telling you he saw a flag with bbc on it .Its relevant to the conversation. He didn't make a comment on it he was merely telling you what he saw !
And he's right i saw it as well .

I used to get a couple of the hooligan books from the airport every time I went away, don't know why, they were all pretty much the same. Easy read I suppose, didn't have to concentrate too hard.
Once they'd gathered enough dust I decided to sell them on eBay as a job lot. Got a few messages asking for shipping price to Russia which always surprised me.

Of course im not equating this fighting bloke with Jimmy Savile - it's more the principle I'm wondering about. Are we turning a blind eye to hooliganism or whatever other horrible shit because someones a blade? Load of bollocks if you ask me.

That said, if he has talked about it and acknowledged that it's a cunts game then fair enough.

In fairness and for equal example, I’m sure if it was Leeds or Wednesday we’d all have the same opinion about those cheeky scamps. We all turn a blind eye for one of our own!

As far as I was aware he has backtracked and apologised/talked down on what he once did. Don’t quote me but I’m sure I have read such pieces where he distances himself from what once happened
