Just read that Neil Etheridge is in hospital with Covid. I presume that he is young, eats healthily, is fit and has been going to gyms for years. This has not prevented him getting the disease, and not prevented him being hospitalised by it. Just because you are all of the above does not mean you are immune, and, more importantly, have the ability to pass it on to someone who is old, has a poor diet, less fit and hasn't visited a gym for years.
Good point…there will always be exceptions to make a case regards anything.
Even the hospitalisation data isn’t so clear. Apparently last year many covid patients needed to spend 1 to 2 weeks in hospital.
Whereas now according to a NHS representative covid patients are spending 1….2 or 3 nights max in hospital.
The treatment and understanding of covid has improved massively compared to last year.
I make personal risk assessments based on each situation using experience and facts, Most people I know who have had covid didn’t even have symptoms or had very minor symptoms.
It’s all about context and putting things into perspective, driving is incredibly dangerous but we still do it.
Alcohol (directly or indirectly) and obesity cause an incredible amount of deaths….should we ban alcohol and junk food?
1000’s die from flu every year…it’s a killer but in the past society hasn’t given it the respect it deserves. Without a vaccine I’d agree with extending lock down but now that vulnerable people are 95% protected from serious illness and hospitalisation then it makes sense to try and live normal lIves
The reality is that even with no vaccine if you are under 60 and have no health conditions you’re very unlikely to die…with a vaccine it’s virtually impossible to die unless you fall in the very elderly and having health condition groups….so like driving a car I’m prepared to accept the minimal risk.
I‘d rather die early knowing I’ve lived a life…instead of living to a great age hiding in the shadows
but I respect everyone is different with different values and experiences….so I’ve no problem with anyone thinking differently.
