Guess the 6 are Jokanovic, Blessin, Clement, Appleton, Heckingbottom and the French geezer who's name was doing the rounds a couple of weeks ago.

Personal theory is SJ might be stalling (waiting on a better offer/negotiating a better deal) and the club might be ready to move on but can't do anything til after the play offs to land Appleton. Probably after getting the knockback with the Blessin work permit situation they decided to avoid going down that road. Even if Clement, for example, was able to get a work permit the players he would be wanting to bring in might struggle.

You could well be right re Jokanovic, but if it goes into next week, I think that raises the chances of Appleton or Steve Cooper, who knows, maybe even Neil Critchley from Blackpool. But the fact that we're reported to have already gone through the interviewing process makes me think it can't be Appleton or Cooper, surely their respective clubs would have told us to do one, unless through an agent perhaps that we've been told they're up for coming but can't leave until after the play off. Todays article in the Star said that the manager who was told a decision is imminent after the Burnley game was British based, although that could be Hecky of course. I shudder to think who else it could be based here like John Terry, Karl Robinson! Out of the names mentioned I'd be much happier with the foreign based names than any mentioned from the UK.

I have said some things about Hecky's apparent involvement but, he's steered us pretty well since Wilder jumped ship, this does not mean I want him getting the job full time. I just don't think he's the man to take us forward but I'm afraid the owner and board are taking the fans for mugs, they just seem so reticent to divulge who new manager is.

It was compounded even further when they had the gall to ask fans attending Sunday to shell out 40 quid, after all this time away, 15 quid would have sold out but greed gets in the way. They need the new manager announced and in NOW so he can work with the players, bring in his players & staff possibly ATM we are treading water full of BIG SHARKS.

“Work with the players” seasons over and they are off on holiday. Stop panicking

I don't do panicking I do realism after nearly 60 years following Blades, it's called stability and we need it we are rudderless heading for the rocks.

agree some of our fans who are fearing the worst with the current squad are forgetting that the championship is a poor league and most of the current squad will be comfortable playing in it

And I think some fans are forgetting that it’s pretty much a certainty that members of that squad will be sold to balance the books!
And once you’re bringing in new players, new systems, new managers and new coaches it takes time for that to gel. So it’s ok saying “the champ is poor quality” but the reality is we will be bringing in that standard of player...so there’s every chance we will end up another poor championship side scrapping every game. And the longer this debacle continues the more that likelihood will come to fruition.

Greed? You're talking about a 125k difference, it's feck all.
The pricing of the game wasn't anything to do with making money, it is the going rate and the board just got it wrong with regards to giving the fans something back.
If they wanted to pick everyone's pocket ST would have been hiked.

Get the frustration, but to me it was always going to be the end of the season.

Completely made sense for any new manager to have a clean slate, and no association with this car crash season.

It would have been great for an announcement immediately after Burnley, but that's not happened.

Realistically, there's no ill effect of we get this sorted in the next week or so. Manager will have pitched plan, transfer budget etc, watched games etc so won't be coming in cold. Players are also on holiday probably for a couple of weeks?

Although anything beyond players return and its far from ideal, and possibly damaging.

We aren't going to know until we know.

I’m still yet to understand what everyone’s in such a tizzy about this. We all knew Hecky had it till the end of the season, the season which ended just 2 days ago. Appointment is expected before the end of May so just give it a few more days and your questions will be answered

Well we also face the prospect of losing 2 players to B&B with her majesties hotels, yes we knew Hecky was till end of season but United said a replacement would be announced at the end of his tenure, nothing yet. I'm sorry Billy but United will never answer all the fans questions as they treat them like mugs, and always have done but the fans keep coming back.

There you hit the nail on the head Bob, "Giving the fans something back", but as I say they put money over improving relations with fans.

I'm with Billy. We were going down from well before Wilder left. If the new manager comes in, a good chunk of the squad he'd be working with are unlikely to be here next season anyway, so he doesn't really learn all that much. He couldn't even do any prep for next season given the number of moving parts.

Meanwhile, we've had Hecky in who was able to blood some of the youngsters he knew personally. Maybe a little bit slower than we'd have hoped, but still, he has done it eventually.

The argument that the fans are being treated unfairly rests on the premise that it makes much difference whether we knew the new manager a couple of months ago or right now. And it's only really important for next season which will be become an issue in a few weeks time.

We've jumped the gun all too quickly in the past. I'm glad we've taken our time this time, no matter how eager I am to find out who the next gaffer will be.

They should have identified the one they want out of that list weeks ago and employed him last weekend. The fact managers are waiting to hear back from us is ridiculous.
Ramsdale / McGoldrick have said it over the past couple of weeks this needs to be sorted ASAP.
Ideally he should have been announced by now.
Certainly this week at the latest.
Maybe it is not ‘dragging’ on but it seems so and no doubt made worse by the fact that this season has gone on far too long.

Heard that CW had a non-compete clause in his termination package until the end of May-21, and that we also had a clause that reflected this, not to appoint until end of May-21

That would be the weirdest agreement in the history of football. Wilder insisted that we wouldn't be able to hire a manager until the end of the season.

y tho?

I think that’s reasonable, but any delays from the weekend onwards are on the club. An appointment would give ST sales a fillip, would mean seeing the players before they break and starting work on transfer targets / making enquiries. It’s advantageous for numerous reasons that the new manager is in post in the next few days.

We’ve had 3 months to thrash out terms on the QT with the first choice candidate. Nixon seems to be alluding we’ve been trying to agree them for a few weeks with SJ. Just need to get it done either way and start moving things forward.

I'm not panicking at the lack of announcement as such. I'm panicking at the prospect of who may be the boss with some of the names mentioned not who I would want. It does seem that Jokanovic is almost a formality, but the longer it goes without him been announced the more it makes me think it's not going to happen and that's my worry as not convinced some of the other choices will be up to it.

In terms of the players, clarity etc. for those that say calm down the players are on holiday etc, I don't agree, even Hecky and McGoldrick are calling for this to be sorted now. For the out of contract players it's essential that they know where they're going and that decision should be made by new manager not by anyone else. We all need a lift as fans and I think the sooner it's announced the sooner everyone knows where we're going.

Just listening to Bev now on Radio Sheffield from last nights football heaven on play back, calling for Hecky to be manager. He's done well but not for me as full time manager. This argument that he knows the players is a very thin argument in my view, anyone watching our games can see what needs sorting recruitment wise and Hecky will still be there next season to lean on.

SJ is notoriously difficult to pin down to a decision so it's no surprise things are dragging on. As well as getting to agreement on terms for him, it should also be considered he's likely to also want to bring as least some of the backroom team with him - they'll all require due diligence to be done on them and terms agreed before anything is announced.

Whatever the club do, I just hope they don't drive him from BDTBL to Shirecliffe before he signs- the sights of Pitsmoor and Page Hall on weekday lunchtime will be enough to put anyone off, even a mental Serbian!

I admit I will applaud Hecky for his decision to give young Jebbison a game, he took the mantle on well and he looks like a great future prospect. I really do hope tho he doesn't get like say Slew who believed his own hype, I don't even know where Slew is playing these days.

I don't think many will go, Berge and Rammers the most likely, If Wilder ends up at Newcastle or Palace I could see Fleck and/or Egan going, but I can't see many Prem teams clambering for our players. Looking back at Norwich when they got relegated, you lose the better players who are young and with time to improve, hence Pukki stayed as he's 31 and likewise I can't see Fleck and Egan having any takers other than Wilder. Jebbison may attract interest but I think we can fight that one off for now. O'Connell would be likely to leave if he'd played this season but it doesn't appear he's going to be fit for August on present lack of info. When there's just no news you fear the worst.

Morecambe I think but don’t quote me

for me berge and egan will be sold and possibly rammy if a big enough offer comes in but dont see many premier league clubs coming in for any more of our players and probably 4 or 5 will be released

I'm sure I'm not the only one checking twitter every half hour!? I just type in sla and Twitter knows it's going to be Slavisa Jokanovic! I feel such as sad sack doing it, but then another half hour goes past and I can't help but take another look!

It's like Brewster all over again. Went on forever.
