£40 is the match day ticket price for a CAT A premier League game.

The club obviously thought this match would be in high demand as did many on here prior to tickets coming out.

A club with 20000+ season ticket holders might expect to easily sell 5000 seats having not been open for over a year.

They called it wrong. I'm happy with my season ticket price. I don't think anyone is taking the piss, yet
I agree with this completely.

I think it was a bit short sighted rather than a money grab. 5k tickets isn't exactly going to line pockets.

Is Burnley a CAT A game though?

If we got to an FA Cup final, they might reasonably expect us to sell put paying £100 a ticket. We'd have probably still sold a similar number of season tickets last season if they were £100 dearer.

That they assumed demand would be up due to a pandemic doesn't justify a price increase for a lesser product.

Burnley wouldn't normally be a CAT A game. I can understand their logic in pricing it at £40 though. CAT A pricing is aimed at choking off demand, which I think they expected to be high after 400 odd days of no live football. It's worked better than they had hoped on this occasion.

As i said in my earlier post, they, and I got that wrong. To be fair, there were plenty on here saying it would sell out 5 times over. Perhaps someone in the ticket office was reading that.

They underestimated how totally fucked off our fan base is with the whole thing. I'm the only one going out of a group of around 10 to 15 people I know. Some of them go home and away, some have had season tickets for 30 odd years etc. etc. and they've all decided to give it a miss for various reasons, meaning it'll be shit for me as there will be no pub or 1/2 time chat or any of the other stuff I normally do. I've wasted £40 on worse things in my time, the GANT raincoat I spent a fortune on from Cole Brothers and then wore 4 times comes to mind.

Personally, I think this has worked quite well. The people who are going are those who really want to go.

I want to go. I usually go to the League Cup games, so the absence of crowds doesn't bother me. £40 wouldn't bother me that much either, even if it is a bit steep. The intrusive, pointless Covid nonsense is the line I'm not crossing.

They have either got the pricing wrong or it is the thin end of the wedge time will tell, we will see.

I've made a grassy knoll in the car park by the players entrance. Gonna "cheer" Lunny from it as he leaves for the last time.

Happy to be corrected but I think Burnley last season was a CatA. I thought no matches were lower than A.

This is genuinely the only reason I’m slightly sad I’m not going.

For me, there isn’t any single reason I’m staying away - it’s part boycott, part “it’ll be shit anyway” and mainly that the reward of losing 1-0 to sliced Matt Lowton cross isn’t worth the risk of bringing back the lurgy to some semi-vulnerable family.

But on the other hand… most losses in a season, least goals and, more importantly, lowest ever league attendance. It’s another Port Vale. Give it a decade, and a quarter of a million will claim they were there.

A chance to be one of the crowd at our lowest league attendance of modern times?

I was at the Port Vale game, and pure liquid Bladeyness will be seeping out of every orifice after this. 💦💦

Pah. i actually caught Kozluk's Cross as I was a ball boy for that match. Got the ball autographed and you can still see the dent in it from the seat on Row z. Talking of matchballs in my following career as a NASA scientist one of my unmanned probe droids detected Simmo's ball orbiting the ice planet of Hoth. I rung Wilder about it and he just said to fax the details through to the office as he was trying to download the greasy chip butty ringtone on his 3210. Kind regards B. BLADE.
