Personally, I think this has worked quite well. The people who are going are those who really want to go. Normally, for popular games, tickets go down very few loyalty point tiers. If this had been free or a tenner a lot of folk would probably have got a ticket and then not bothered to go.

This way, it looks as though most people who want to go will be able to, but the higher point folks got the first pick of the seats.
Imagine having worked all week, paid your bills and having £30 left to spare until next week......

General sale now and am I right in thinking you can’t actually sit together🤷🏻‍♂️ I did log on and the seats were all singles, and below is text from the latest email about general sale.

Due to social distancing protocols and safety certificate requirements, our capacity for this game is 5,096 and tickets will be sold online only in a chequerboard formation – the following stands will be available: Kop, John Street, Bramall Lane Lower, Bramall Lane Upper, Westfield Corner.
They've spaced them out like that for sale purposes, but of course families & friends will cluster together when inside the ground.

Yes you can't sit together , 3 seats apart

Not passing comment on the price, but all the players (yes, even Lunny) deserve to be clapped tomorrow.

Anyone who wants to boo them wants to give them heads a wobble. Oddballs.
But why do they DESERVE to get clapped?

McG and Rammers deserve to be applauded off the pitch at the end of the game, no matter what the score. Didzy has been like a one-man-team at times and Ramsdale has gone from being a liability to pulling off Henderson type saves, and keeping us in games where we would get thrashed.

I hope we play as many youngsters as we can as well, give them a run out, so they can say they played Premier League football, no matter what their future holds.

Despite collectively delivering a pathetic season to the club and fans, imo they deserve a round of applause at the end of the game. The vast majority have tried, but they've just not been good enough.

This is certainly one exception though who hasn't given a fuck this season and I would happily hear that he was booed off the pitch if he was there/plays. He can fuck off. Hope that prick gets booed.

Those who are going, because they’ve missed it; do you think it’ll be the same with 3/4k? The thing you’ve missed won’t be available.

I’ve missed it too, but I can’t see how sitting in a stadium with nobody there will satisfy my craving for going back. Throw the £40 ticket into the mix and I’m certain I’d have regretted it.

Hmmm..
I just wonder how many of those not prepared to tip up £40, for what might prove to be our last appearance in the top flight for a very long time, usually get in on a cheap kid's ticket, and then moan about lack of investment in the team...
I'm going.
£30 as a senior is fine by me.
I wouldn't consider missing it unless I had to, after so long not being able to go.
I will not be booing anyone.

We're going. It's too expensive, but then we would have spent £800 on season tickets this season, before fortnightly trains down to Shef etc etc, so not all bad. I wouldn't pay it every game, but ultimately the money goes to United.

I've bought a ticket this morning in the general sale. I can't think of anything to contribute to this thread other than ... I'm going because I go to football games and this is one. I enjoy games, I'm flexible, I'm adaptable, I'll enjoy this one. Maybe not as much as I've enjoyed them in the past. Maybe not as much as I'll enjoy them in the future. But, I'll still enjoy it.

I sent an email to the club saying that the £40 was a disgrace. I got a reply saying it'll be passed on etc, but it won't make any difference. I presume we've sold out tomorrow, but not seein confirmation on that either.

One things for sure there will be gaps.... 😁

Still see if you enjoy it if its at the Newcastle level and not the Everton level at full time ! ;)

Enjoyment level.
OK, I've just looked up the results v Everton (win) & v Newcastle (loss) - I didn't watch either game. I think you're making the point about enjoyment levels being related to match results. For me, only very slightly. Of course, I enjoy watching my team win. But, it doesn't bother me that much if we lose. I enjoy going to watch football games. It ain't life or death or even a slight twinge. I'll enjoy watching the game live tomorrow.

Just wonder what you will feel like if its another 0-1 nah not for me just a pointless game(forgive the pun). Roll on next season UTB

I've got two degrees in Applied Statistics. I'm confident in explaining - I'll enjoy a 4-0 win more than a 3-0 win - I'll enjoy a 1-0 win more than a 1-0 defeat - but I'll still enjoy going to a 1-0 defeat.

So after making comment on those who aren't prepared to pay £40 it seems that your not actually paying this yourself and you are paying £30 it seems? Mmhhh

Your choice if you want to go. Just like others have the choice to choose not to pay £40 for a ticket for a dead rubber match. As I said in a previous post, each to their own.

Believe me the result had nothing to do with it. They could still have lost 1-0 at Everton and I would have enjoyed the game.
If tomorrow is like the Newscastle game it will test your enjoyment over watching football games.

I've written and published Blogs from 939 games (various) I've been to. You won't find one where I haven't enjoyed it. I fully respect how others feel in defeat or poor performance. And, of course, I enjoy it less when we lose, or are poor, but I still enjoy it. That's just how it works for me.

...and ridiculously I know of 3 folk who want to go but can't because the dad of the family isn't on the magic 50 point mark (his 2 kids are as I've taken them to a couple of games)
