I get I’m sounding like a stuck record on this, but I’m genuinely interested in other fans views on this. Would you really be happy with this shit or bust approach?
We appoint SJ, the most expensive and proven option, give him the likely transfer kitty he’ll want, and if he doesn’t get us up in the first or certainly second season we’ll need to have a fire sale including any of the promising kids while we take the time to recover.
Its not something I’m going to argue against as everyone will have their opinion, but I’m really interested in how many of our fans want that approach and would accept the return to where we were prior to Wilder as the risk of failure.

PS. I’m not sure us talking to him means this is happening anymore than the other candidates we’re talking to. We’re just effectively interviewing the candidates before we make a decision as to whom to approach.

Depends really. If we went for Blessin or Clement then I'd accept a couple of years of consolidation in exchange for watching some, hopefully decent football and a fresh approach, although you inevitably end up seeing the better players picked off just as you think you are getting somewhere.

However if its the choice between the uninspiring English names mentioned (Cowley, Appleton etc) then I'd rather see us have a go with SJ and accept the inevitable fire sale if we don't go up in 2 years. I think the job would be too big for them and we'd end up having another 3/4 years of chopping and changing managers treading water.

Ultimately I just want to watch a properly competitive Blades side again after the experience of this season. Its been miserable watching the club effectively shrug its shoulders and give up with half a season to play.

Well it wouldn't be any less successful a strategy as my previous dating attempts..........
If it works give me a shout and I'll pop round.

Even if its just to have a look at her.

I'll get an extra cup out for the Tassimo and make us all a coffee.

I've reserved my "Spectre" James Bond heat changing mug for Margot though. I think that will seal the deal...............

Not reading too much into we're "talking" to him.

No doubt we are, but it doesn't mean he's going to accept.

I could talk to Margot Robbie but it doesn't mean she'll be visiting Crab Towers any time soon, sadly.
😂😂, you never know 👍🏻

What do you consider the alternative to be? Once the parachute payments have run out, we’ll have sell players anyway. Pre-Covid, most championship clubs ran at a loss or had parachute payments and I suspect in two years time, the situation will be similar.
For me, the only question is do we look to bring in younger players who may have a future resale value but may lack the consistency of more senior players or do we sign older players who tend to be more consistent but will have little resale value if we don’t go up? How do we strike the balance between the two?

Thing is with Jokanovic, club owners have chucked money at him and he made it work. Or he asked for money and they gave it him.
Doesn't mean to say that he couldn't work with a lower budget or wouldn't be prepared to work with a lower budget.

on the flip side, he also had players chucked at him (which he didn't like)

I honestly see us having one of the biggest budgets in the league due to the parachute payments, so I think he'd be more than happy with what we'd be willing to give him.

it would be great to read about the possible manager instead of the tiresome Crab Industries fairytale. 🙄

it went off on a tangent as several members of the forum find the "fairytales" absolutely hilarious. It's not your fault someones got the humour of a sandal.

It's not my board, not my plaything, the guys right.

Best left at that

No. you're right bud, it isn't your board, it also isn't his thread either, ergo, he can't demand what gets said, we're in a free speech country, if you don't like something then don't read it lol.

Rather a thread be derailed by crab industries than the usual monotonous shite. Besides.. there's nothing been said regards a new manager in ages.

Yea mate but it's not to everyones taste and it's grief I could have done without. I'd like to take the whole concept of it to the back of a shed and kill it with a shovel to be honest.

Sometimes I just get sucked back into it

but thats what makes us all who we are.. I don't like strawberries.. some do, it doesn't give me the right to act a twat because i don't like what someone else finds hilarious.. you've got literally 0 to apologise for.

Fuck it, get vern raaahnd!

We do, but free speech also comes with a degree of responsibility, sometimes get derailed from that in the spirit of humour (or what passes for it at least). They want to know who's going to be manager, it is what it is.

Yeah you're right Si, however, i don't see any harm.. you didn't offend anyone, we all want to know who the manager is... that doesn't mean we can't have a laugh about something that I (and several if not the majority of the forum) find absolutely hilarious in the mean time :)

Well I don't think appointing SJ and a decent transfer kitty is necessarily "shit or bust". Our sensible approach to contracting (relegation wage drops), the parachute payments and player sales (Berge, JOC, Ramsdale?) could put us in good stead for a promotion push and I don't think that would be sh*t or bust.

Do I want sh*t or bust? You know what, I'd rather take that than fading out into an average Championship team. I want us to show ambition and have a go. If we do hire SJ, a promotion expert, then I think our intention is clear. And I don't think we need to break the bank in doing that.
