This is the first time I have started a post on this site and I will probably will get slaughtered for it but here goes.........
I believe the appointment of Adams is another case of the Blades taking the cheap option! and with that relegation, as much as I hope it does not happen is nailed on. I love Alan Cork, great memories but I feel cheated by Mr Birch and his cronies!!!! all this talk about changing the way we play, planning for the future, the Blades way! it's all BOLLOCKS. It's all cut cut cut and get the fans to keep coughing up and it will all be fine yet again. I really believved that this time they were going to try and put things right but oh no! I am not going to offer arguements only the opinion of a Loyal Blade of over 35 years and if you are honest a lot of you feel the same way too but won't admit to it!!!!!!!!! My love of football in general is slowly but surely diminishing, players on £250,000 a week, foreign owners pulling our clubs further away from us day by day, the national game less important than the champions league Fuck it!. If you want a great football story look at Afc Wimbledon now that is fan power!.
So there you have it, go ahead do your worst, slag me off, pick me up on my grammer but do not ever question my passion for a team called SHEFFIELD UNITED

i won't slag you off mate.. i agree 100 percent.. i don't buy into this 'im a blade' guff.. adams says that his favourite player is tony currie.. if we start playing like john harris' outfit in 6 months time then i'll believe it.. seeing as i'm a glutton for punishment then i'm prepared to give him a chance.. i can't help feeling an opportunity has been missed.. prove me wrong.. PEEERRRRLLLLEEEEASSEE..

Fair play Brampton, and, i'm sure your opinion is respected by all, as it clearly should be.
All i'd say is, let's give the new management a chance.
Fair post though my friend.

Robson - expensive option. Fans moan.
Adams - 'cheap option'. Fans moan.

Maybe we need to make a price comparison site for football managers.

I don't agree.................. but Micky alone won't save the Blades........................McCabe has to do his bit.

Fair do's I should know better as i was employed in a fee paying school for a couple of years! But it was written with true passion as I had only just got home from Portugal and was truley gutted!
It's 'Grammar'.

You did ask :)

Funnily enough, I feel the opposite in that this appointment will guarantee we stay up!! We shall see......

We will not get relegated. There. I said it.

robson .. knobhead (pisshead?) option
blackwell.. cheap (available) option..
adams.. too early to say (obviously)

>Maybe we need to make a price comparison site for football managers
get onto that meerkat bloke.. 'i didn't go through all of that to make a site comparing football managers! :D

I actually think that this appointment will save us. But that's beside my point. I would like to ask bramptonblade something. If hiring Micky Adams is the cheap option, who would have been the expensive option, who he would have liked to have seen appointed, and what guarantees there would have been that, if that person wanted to join us, they could have avoided relegation?

Hello Mendonca, not seen you since I managed to sort you a ticket for the Liverpool semi some years ago! Hope you are right cheers!

Difficult to say but SOD would have had to be a long term investment, are we capable of attracting a Big Sam are we ambitious only the board can answer that one mate!

I respect your opinion. I, however, like Yoss and some others think this will save our season. New guy in, blank sheet for all, new ideas, new set pieces, new injection of enthusiasm, backed by two guys who have very deep feelings for the place. It will save our season.

However, for me the real test for messers Adams and Cork, will be next year and moving the club on. McCabe will then have to do his bit, one more time, back them and see if they can move it on to the next stage. If McCabe doesn't back them, then it will be much much harder, even more so than this year, and we really don't want that!

Best of luck to Micky, i'm fully behind you, let's get up that table!

Totally respect your viewpoint Bramptonblade but as a loyal Blade of 65 years I think you are wrong.
Under our present circumstances from the names mentioned I believe the right man at this time for the job.

> our season is saved.. but i worry we'll be in the same place in three years.. blackwell to blackwell in two generations?.. i hope not i really do

I really hope you are right, but wasn't the point of this appointment to cement the Blades future plans and change our whole way of playing. MA = poor man's NW and he should never have been let go but that's another story!!!!!!

Don't tempt fate! Although I don't think we'll see Blackwell employed here again in any respect

I actually ducked when I read that. Seriously?
I think he deserved to be on the shortlist although he wouldn't have been my favourite. Eddie Howe and Keith Hill would have been my lower league picks.
Southgate had an excellent record of giving youth it's chance while playing decent football.
He also wasn't doing a bad job at Boro before they dumped him, and without a great deal of financial backing given they had parachute payments.

Incidentally, he's also got a track record of wearing the best waistcoat I've ever seen at a football match during a reserve match at Saltergate :)

So do I Kenty. Adams has far more experience than SOD and like Bassett's teams did, I believe his teams will play to a greater level than individual players have done so far

Micky will keep us up, just have to wait and see how far he can take us
