I has a partial deaf friend at school (near Newbury) ringing the club about every 15 minutes asking for the score, I found it hard to understand that we had lost at home to already relegated Blackburn, what surprised me more reading the match report in the papers in the next day was that Blackburn had a player (I think Russell Coughlin) sent off in the first half for a bad tackle on Sabella.
The following day my dad drove down to my school to take me and my schoolmate from Belfast to the match. He was looking forward to see Sabella as I was always talking about him. Sabella was ruled unfit to play. We stood with the Cambridge fans. Little Steve Spriggs scored the only goal of the match in the first half. The closest chance we had was a shot from Mike Guy which hit the crossbar. On the way home I was almost speechless as I couldnt understand how we got relegation with the skill we had in the team.
