Ive been genuinely shocked at how quickly some united fans have not only turned on the team but also swwm yo take great pleasure in crucifying individual players
You'd think the last few years would count for something and maybe give the players a bit of a honeymoon period but I suppose not
Same here nice guy looks like our fan base have fast become the type of fan base we normally laugh at! The fact that most of these players have given us some times we could only have dreamt of 5 years ago means nothing! Whilst I agree we need to look forward not back the players and manager deserve as much support as when we were sweeping all before us.
Some Blades fans need to get some perspective and actually remember where we have come from!

For both club and Country all he's being given is balls into his head, a good proportion of which he wins. Service into feet in dangerous areas has been absolutely non existent. He's struggled this year, but he's been feeding off scraps.
Couldn't agree more.

The only time I've seen us really play to his strengths was Chelsea at home last season and he was head and shoulders the best player on the park IMO.

I watched extra time in the Scots game yesterday and all they did was launch it 50 yards in his general direction and he hadn't another player within 20 yards of him. Quite what he's expected to do with it I don't know and in many respects it was similar to watching us this season.

Maybe this will boost his mood and confidence hope so as when on form he is some player

Agree and conversely the penalty miss by Mitrovic might haunt him for years.
Let’s hope Mitrivic takes this negatively back to Fulham and it effects his form in the PL.

Not to mention the one against us too - wonder if that was in his head when he took the one last night.

Now if Mitrovic was taking pens against Foderingham... the guys who can't score 'em v the guy who can't save 'em... it's up there with the Irresistible Force Paradox

I think it's fair to be happy for the guy but also acknowledge that he's not been very good at football for us or Scotland.

Still happy for the guy though, don't hurt me, I'm not a Sheffield Wednesday fan.

Well done Ollie.

That's where I'm at. When you compare his effort and overall play prior to the penalty shootout with that of Dykes, a Championship player bought for £1m, who played tremendously well with similar direct tactics, it does stick in the craw a bit. He is a player I'd love to see come good obviously, but how long do you wait?

Glad he slotted away his penalty with gusto though - Thanks Ollie.

He looked totally rubbish. Just like he does for us. His closing down is embarrassing, the way he runs is pathetic, he ain't particularly strong we expected a world beater we got a flop. The haggis eaters expected a Prem striker they got a flop- and they are quite rightly saying so.

'Hibby' you are right - Dykes a 1 million player looked every bit as good if not better- says a lot. If we are judging him on heading long punts Madine and The Chief were better- its crackers.

I wanted him to score the pen and I want him to show good- but never ever is he going to climb us out of the mire. My preference would be to see Billy every time at least he's a proper striker not like this fraudster.

Because I want him to act like a £20m striker for the Blades, I give zero shits about him scoring a pen for Scotland.

Not aiming this at you entirely but some people still can’t get their heads around the fact £20m is not big money in football now. Especially for a forward.

Back end of last season he was our best striker. Remember him causing problems for Spurs and Chelsea. Ran Arsenal’s centre backs ragged in the FA Cup quarter.

Currently playing in a shit team who hardly create owt. Scotland aren’t too good either.

He’s not a player capable of creating chances out of nothing (although he scored that quality solo goal at Brighton last season). He needs good service.

Dykes had different players around him though. McGinn came off at the same time as him and Christie shortly afterwards. And I think Scotland were just trying to hang on when McB came on. He didn’t get into the game at all admittedly but I don’t think Paterson did much to link up with him.
Tbh, I’d be happy if Scotland stuck with Dykes and didn’t pick McB but I’d prefer his form for us between now and summer to be so good he has to be picked. I’m not holding my breath though.

But that’s the point, we shouldn’t be judging him on heading long punts - yes he’s actually decent at winning those but if all he gets given are long hoofs then of course he won’t look great.

I prefer to judge him in the games where we’ve played to his strengths, people mention the spurs arsenal and Chelsea games last season and they’re right too, he was excellent there.

It looks like this prat who wrote this post got exactly what he wanted! I bet he’s loving this in fact you can see in his replies he is! I hate social media football fans!

I'm confused why one of our fans would post a thread slagging off how one of our players is playing in an international games. Why?
For some reason some of our fans love to see our players fail - whether that’s when wearing the colours of Sheff United or their country.

Weirdos. (And not good weirdos like Roygbiv)

Play to McBurnies strengths and he'll do ok
Put the ball across the six yard box and he'll put chances away.

Hoof it for him to flick on to nobody

Or hoof it for him to chase it down and he's not going to shine at all

Like we used to when we had a 10.

How many of the near 40 goals Bill and McG scored when we went up were from cut backs from the byline or general 6-12 yard areas? I'd wager most of them.

And that's just Billy and McGoldrick, Fleck, Stevens and I'm sure others all scored goals from good balls put into dangerous areas in and around the 6 yard box.

How many of those types of chances do we make now? Not a lot.

A quality 10 to get us up the pitch or a general belief and will to drive at the opposition and we've got 3 great young strikers in Moose, McBurnie and Brewster who are all capable of double figures.

Without we may aswell have kept Washington and Lavery.

Get Cal Pat alongside him and you’d have the quickest front two the sweaties have ever seen.

AND the most aerial duels 👍.

Can’t even say he’s not had chances this game. Looks bereft of confidence sadly.
Confidence is one thing.

Discernible footballing talent is quite the other.

Would be warming the bench at the majority of Championship clubs and a decent selection of L1 clubs to boot.

Quite what Clarke and more importantly Wilder must be thinking is literally beyond me.

I must know not a single thing about this beautiful game 😀.

Not knocking him at all but the more I see the more I think he could be a success if he was converted to a centre half, he is great in his own box winning headers.

A 24 year old striker who has scored 31 goals in 59 matches in the Championship would be sat on the bench at the majority of Championship clubs?

Don't talk fucking shit.

He never seems to raise his pace above a half arsed jog... I can't remember the last time I saw him sprint

I'm sure that's why he is picked, certainly by wilder as he knows we will be under the cosh for large parts of games and MC b is handy at helping out the defence
