McB- Scotland

Thing I’ve loved the last few years is this feeling that it’s ‘us’ vs ‘the World’
Just not getting that vibe at all lately.

I was watching the betting app at work to see how the shootout was going. Once they’d won I checked to see if McB had taken one. Was happy to see he had. Once I got home I watched the highlights on YouTube. I’m happy for Scotland and I’m happy that McB did his part. Feel this might give the lad a bit of a boost. Good effort! 👍 UTB

Read bits and bobs of this thread, just got home from work you see, anyway hope it does him the world of good and boosts his confedence, however if Sander is on the pitch or Billy then mcburnie and especially lundstram should not pick the ball up if we're awarded a penalty.. The stakes for us are just as high as they were for Scotland, none the less, berge or sharp for me on pens..

Hopefully that penalty will give the lad a confidence boost. We saw towards the back end of last season that he's got potential, even in this league. He hasn't quite been at it this season, but even that is hugely exaggerated.
Hopefully this confidence lift and the return of his fellow Scotland International will see his fortunes change.

I thought he'd miss as he walked up to take it, he didn't look at all confident to my untrained eye so it was a really nice surprise that he took such a composed and targeted penalty. Hopefully that'll be a kickstart to his season.

I was pleased McBurnie scored his pen but I was hoping Scotland would lose. Nevermind - I’ll be surprised if they get a point at the Euro finals.

I see many Scotland fans are still slagging McBurnie off on social media. Other than the pen he didn’t do much. I just hope he can turn his form around for us because there is no doubt he has been a big disappointment bar a couple of games.

To have seen some of your faces when he stuck the penalty in.
I’ve backed him, but Scotland looked awful with him and Paterson upfront yesterday once they’d taken Christie/ Dykes off. He probably won 50-60% of his headers. He just isn’t up to it at all and definitely not worth what we paid.

Pleased for McBurnie, hoping it'll be the confidence boost he needs. I've slated him a bit in the past, but I really do hope he can prove me a long and be a valuable asset to the club.

I am pleased for Scotland too. My earliest World Cup memory was seeing them lose to Brazil, at France '98.

For both club and Country all he's being given is balls into his head, a good proportion of which he wins. Service into feet in dangerous areas has been absolutely non existent. He's struggled this year, but he's been feeding off scraps.

Ive been genuinely shocked at how quickly some united fans have not only turned on the team but also swwm yo take great pleasure in crucifying individual players
You'd think the last few years would count for something and maybe give the players a bit of a honeymoon period but I suppose not

Fairplay to McB, really pleased for him and Scotland.

Its been a long wait for them and i'm glad they have finally done it.

I agree that McB hasnt had a great season, but I read an article yesterday that said he has won more headers than anyone else in the league this season. He is a somewhat limited target man, but that doesnt mean he cant serve a purpose for us. UTB

I yearn for the good old days.

Playing football manager on my zx81.

Riding my Raleigh Grifter even though I smashed my fucking shins getting up the steps to our house.

Reading a thread on here that didn't turn into a fucking pissing contest.................

There's an old Yorkshire saying that goes something like: 'It's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt.' Sadly, not all Blades fans are very bright.

What about Norwood ?

Couldn't agree more. And anyone supporting them has "blade specs" on. It's almost like they're shocked that a Sheff Utd fans forum contains, well, fans.

I don’t normally watch Scotland matches, but made an exception as it was an important game last night.

McBurnie gets a lot of stick from the Scotland fans and I will say he wasn’t fantastic yesterday.

But - in the 40 odd minutes he played, they pretty much hoofed every ball to him. What do they expect from him it that’s all he’s being asked to do?

Some Scotland fans still slagging him off, reminds me of being on here, waiting for one of them to call him McShitty...

I think it's fair to be happy for the guy but also acknowledge that he's not been very good at football for us or Scotland.

Still happy for the guy though, don't hurt me, I'm not a Sheffield Wednesday fan.

Well done Ollie.

Oli needs players around him for support and to feed off. Scotland didn't do that yesterday, they don't generally, and we largely don't do that either. When we have he's had his best games where he's looked every inch a top half PL player and absolutely dominated the opposition.

This thread is embarrassing. Get in Oli.
