McB- Scotland

I'm sure that's why he is picked, certainly by wilder as he knows we will be under the cosh for large parts of games and MC b is handy at helping out the defence
Wouldn’t it be an idea to have players at one end of the pitch to do the “stopping” and those at the other end to do the “scoring” ?

Just a thought !

To be honest I want him to succeed for us and Scotland but watched him today and he looks awful at the moment. They said it was something like 2 in 36 he has scored for club and country?

Today he has had service/chances too. His touch and contribution has been really poor again though and 2nd half he looked a lost soul.

Brewster also looked bereft of confidence for England u21s the other night sadly.

People keep telling me the money they cost is immaterial. If that is the case then you pick your two strikers most likely to score at the moment and that's Sharp and McGoldrick. Burke and Mousset as next men up. That may sound silly but I'd be more hopeful of goals and even nuisance factor than McBurnie and Brewster at the moment.

Hopefully they come again but we can't wait and wait as half a dozen more ganes without a win/goals from them and we are as good as down. I was hoping going away from SUFC and seeing more of the ball and getting chances might give them both a lift but that has not happened so far.

People also will say he can't leave 20 million strikers x 2 on the bench or even not in the squad but their confidence is shot as it is so taking them out of the firing line for a few weeks might not be the worst thing. Both players are contributing next to nothing regardless of the service at the moment.

I am sure Roys view from will be even more damming but we don't have a whole heap of evidence to defend McBurnie with sadly. The lad Dykes who went to QPR for 1/19th of the fee McBurnie cost looks far more effective.

Immaterial to you.

And me also FWIW.

Immaterial to the owner (s) ??

Not on your nelly.

Only seen the 2nd half and he looks bereft of confidence. Some of the positions he takes up when the ball's about to be crossed are bewildering. He's often outside the box stood next to the crosser and when he does get in the box he's often stood beyond the near post where he's not a threat.

He does play at the other end of the pitch

I expect that Brewster will come good as he has ability. I am not sure the same apples to McB when it comes to control

Get ready you lot Roboblade and his henchmen are coming. Don't you dare question our players ability.

Positional sense awful. His job was to stand on the pen spot and attack the ball, he was that drained after plodding about 8 miles with ineffectual pressing his brain had given in.

Rather than this lame fake press, I’d rather he saved his energies and showed a strikers burst of pace.

The 3 chances today were good chances, most strikers would have hit the back of the net with at least one of those regardless of level or money tag.

Dykes is far superior to McBurnie- of course we all want to be proved wrong of course we want him to prove us wrong, but sadly this critique is a familiar feel to it.

Fraid he’s crap.

Looks a better defender than attacker .... boy wernt we conned ... isn't worth 5 million never mind 20 ..... let's hope young Brewster gamble works out otherwise major blunders made on our limited cheapskate budget!

I watched the first half tonight to have a look at McBurnie (got too bored for the second half, as I seem to find most games these days!). Unfortunately he looked way off it and to be honest completely out of his depth, as he has for us for a long time. It's been the same for too long a period and too many games now to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Really hope he comes good as we'll need every player in form this season, bit at the moment I can't even see how he should get near enough to the first team to turn it around. He's that far off it for me.

You seem like a very very strange character! It’s a couple of times in threads you have mentioned me now! Bit sad really but hey oh!

If we do go down all these prem tourist will hopefully F off !
Don’t we all! It’s embarrassing, I can’t remember seeing this much crap when we were genuinely shit! The joy some posters seem to take from us losing or players playing poorly would make anyone think they are Wednesday fans ....... oh wait a minute!

But have I called you an arse wipe or attention seeker, even supporting the dark side amongst other things .No. So if I'm a very very strange character where does that leave you ?

Leaping to the defence of a player dreadfully inept / out of form / out of his depth ?

Not at all embarrassing

Just a bit clappy. And where’s the harm in that ?

😉.

It leaves me shaking my head my head if I’m honest! The complete lack of support in this thread should tell you everything you need to know but it won’t we all know that!

I think the mistake people are making here is thinking genuine Blades want McBurnie to fail, when nothing could be further from the truth; we all want him to be a top striker- fleet of foot, strong, agile, a burst of pace. Above all someone that regular puts the ball away with aplomb.

Hes had the honeymoon period - that’s well and truly over, we are just fans on a board saying what we see, which is dross beyond belief.

It doesn’t make you a non Blade or Pig or a Premier tourist, it means your not in self denial, it means you are honest with your views.

And if he somehow turns it around and starts regularly cheering us up with goals we’d just say flipping fantastic you’ve turned it around well done because at the start of the 20-21 season you were really truly awful.

Its ok for people to have different opinions but its the ones who get some sort of kick from slagging him no matter what he does that iritates people. McBurnie has won more than his fair share of MOTM awards since coming here so anybody who thinks he has always been terrible is far from correct. To suggest he would be benched by championship teams or league one teams is also laughable. McBurnie for me has shown enough to warrant time. I am usually in the camp of strikers need to score goals but given none of ours are prolific in the slightest I think its better to persist with him. If we do go down he's also our most realistic 20 goal a season striker and now is perhaps not the time to push him out.

The problem is we need a striker NOW , warrant time , we haven't got time mate , we went and brought Brewster , again 20 mill, and now there saying he's one for the future, well in the future will be in the championship if we don't start scoring , I am afraid to say that you have got to be a realist about the situation we are in , and the only outcome i can see is relegation , however lets see how we go against west spam ( can you imagine it on here if we lose ) , We have Fleck and Moose coming back and the Jan window , if the Prince wants to give more money to Chris after his recent purchases .

No chance will PA throw more cash at Wilder in Jan and why should he based on the return so far?

People not slagging his Scotland performances are in self denial. Gotcha.

Those people arent ones id want to say "well done mate". Id want him to tell you to get fucked off to be honest. Why wouldn't he? When a 10 minute cameo for his country, or any performance for his country, brings derision from his club fans, youve got to have a look at yourself and why your saying owt in the first place.

Its reaching mythical proportions how bad hes been to some, hes missed some good chances you have to score. He was also our best player, or one of, against the best team in the league. Have any of our strikers, barring maybe burke with his pace, looked any better? I dont think they have, and yet, here we are.

You do realise the market we are shopping in don’t you? You do realise even half decent championship players cost a fortune? Unfortunately every signing we make is a big gamble because we cannot afford to buy established premier league players especially strikers.
What wilder has done is brought in youth and players who will improve and improve us as a team. All this slating of Wilders signings makes me laugh give them time and then judge! Don’t forget McBurnie and the rest of Wilders supposed shit signings played a big part in us getting in the top 10 of the premier league last season.

For me, we simply can't afford to play two strikers at the moment. There's no service and we're losing the midfield battles

It's got to be McGoldrick and McBurnie or Brewster. I'd argue that the former has had more influence in the games he's played. Brewster made a great run for the U-21s for a ball over the top, which was incorrectly flagged offside, but who is going to play that ball for us? There's only really Norwood and he's not guaranteed to support.

Harry Kane looked crap tonight for England, presume all you bedwetters on here think he is crap too. Some pathetic posts on this thread

Has everybody got it yet?
Continuing to play an out of form player will not suddenly fire him into action.

Hang on this window was making us stronger, the boss said so. How is our position/performances stronger than last season?
