Better than any signing would be some luck like Villa are getting.

Ignoring the fact that they would be in the Championship if we hadn’t been victim of last season’s Ghost Goal, plus the sending off of Egan, how jammy was their win over Liverpool?

One gift from the goalie, one truly awful defending from a free kick and THREE deflected shots. And the non-award of a penalty when Sala was chopped down.

Can we ‘ave some please?

Steady on, they've become a few poster's 2nd team of late.

Agreed though. Dean Smith must have a guardian angel.

7-2 jammy? the decisions just went for them yesterday, don't forget we're the ONLY team that has decisions go against us. Mind you if Dean Smith shit his sen he'd have my trousers on, Eddie spot on Villa as a team okay but the fans think they are a cut above and the world owes them everything.

they got lucky. theres a high line & then theirs this. why are 3 of liverpool back 4 in attacking half & furthest 1 back on the halfway line. L2 clubs are capable of knocking a long ball on for pacey guy to sprint on to. mousset could've had 5

LOL. Villa have pace in abundance and attacking flair - the jammy bastards. I'd like to see how jammy they would be with our carthorses, lumbering up from midfield, turning round and going back again. Anybody can fluke a win with attacking flair, speed and skill but it takes real tactical nounce to dig in with lower league players and lump it up to geriatric forrads. The lucky so-and-so's.

(Lol, couldn't help but hear that in the voice of Alf Garnett.. 😆)

They had some luck with the goal that wasn't given but also turned their season around after lockdown.

Because of their wealth they were always likely to kick on this season.

They've made some good signings even if they've paid handsomely for them.

No fan of Villa but no malice towards them.

Villa were good against Liverpool. But i think Liverpool made them look better than what villa usually are. Liverpool played shite

No hate from me, more envy at the quality they are able to buy/loan, & discard if things don't work out!

And................... Grealish is pure class, loves his club. I just wish we could unearth our own version & afford to keep him.

Proper jammy Villa Only put 7 past a team whos lost like 4 games in 80

I just have to say we'll done, good on em. Would hate to be the team that plays Liverpool in the next couple of games. Boy I would expect a reaction.

The Liverpool goalkeeper started it all by gifting the first goal with his mistake (the goalie looks like that horrible fucker in Gameofthrones)whenever we play the oppo goalkeepers usually play out of their skins and get awarded MOM,like Martini at Villa and Meslier at Leeds.

Never get owt on a plate us.

It's not complicated......Villa did their homework, they knew exactly how to play against L'pool's high line. Villa were disciplined, in McGinn they had a leader who was prepared to unsettle the opposing players, and L'pool seemed clueless about how to outthink a side who had clearly done their homework. Credit where credit's due, Villa outthought the scousers and deserved their result. I doubt when we'll next witness a Liverpool side play so hamfistedly, and to concede 7 goals is a catastrophe for a side who are meant to be the best organised side amongst the european elite.

Skilful and lucky is a powerful combination and the alternative can't think who......:)

The good news, if there is any, is that we play Liverpool in 3 weeks and Alisson is almost certainly out so Adrián will probably play.
The bad news is that on current form we're unlikely to test him.

Hate Villa with a pashun....dodged FFP and dodged relegation, forever known as the Fraud Squad......you would think their fans would be a bit more gracious but no, as arrogant as that lot over at S6.....

If it was luck, can't say as haven't seen it, maybe they have used up their seasons luck in one game.
Look at the Blades no points but all their luck in the bank ready to use when required.

Can only imagine the response on here had we annihilated Liverpool 7-2 and oppo forums simply put it down to luck 😆

Unbelievably lucky but they went out and attacked Liverpool, if we had that level of luck we'd have drawn with them.

I don't know if they were lucky against Liverpool but they are lucky to be in the premier league ,Liverpool should have been alying Bournemouth on sunday not those gormless entitled Nigel's

Stuck in my throat a bit when the Commentator in the Liverpool match said that Villa did incredibly well last season to stay up by one point ...... and I waited and I waited but no mention of the ghost goal and that one point should not have existed.

Just proves they only like us when its fashionable.

100% this. Villa nearly blew it against us and we’re nowhere near our best.

Liverpool also shipped three to Leeds, who also scraped past us.

Villla are good yes, but there’s a reason some of their players were our targets and Liverpool are all over the place at the back currently.

They were a bit fortunate in that the penalty wasn't given, but I don't see the vast majority of deflected goals as being jammy.
Klopp said after the match that a deflected goal is usually caused by poor defending, and of course if you don't shoot you aren't going to score, deflected or not.
Villa attacked and had numerous shots. They could and probably should have scored more than they did in reality.
