Player Suggestion David Brooks

Jim still knows more than he lets on.
He might not be heavily involved anymore but he really cares about the club and our dealings so I reckon he keeps an ear out, and he's one of the few that knows the Prince's thoughts let alone Wilders.

Are you really comparing Luke Freeman to David Brooks? Brooks is a game-changer, a match winner, whatever you want to call him. He's the kind of player you're happy to make a tweak to your formation for if it means fitting his talent in. As it stands, he actually does fit in our formation. IMO he was best for us playing just off the striker, rather than in the "Duffy role". I think playing in our team now that's where Wilder would see him fit. I can't quite believe I'm even bothering to write this as it seems so unthinkable we'd actually be able to land him, even on loan, but yes he'd absolutely fit.
Not directly comparing the players, no. But I don’t think we played without an attacking midfielder last season because Freeman wasn’t good enough. If we play with Brooks, we have to fundamentally change the way we play, which as I say I wouldn’t mind, but given that Wilder let our main attacking midfielder go out on loan, we clearly had little plan to do so. If we do completely change based on being able to bring in a loan player, after finishing so high last season, then that’s a real head scratcher to me and smacks of being a bit of a knee-jerk reaction rather than the careful planning that has been the hallmark of CWAK’s tenure.

That's fair, although back to my other point and I think Brooks' best position in our system was as a second striker. I imagine if we brought him in that's where he'd play. Although that said, he's so talented that if we did change our system a bit for him, I don't think it would be the maddest thing in the world.

I always thought a monkey was £500
But back on topic, we may have a chance of loan to buy if Brooks wants to come back.
Think all of the speculation arises from wilder saying that he was a good player etc etc but things have moved on since he was sold and think at the moment we need more box to box physical types.
He may be a good player but in my opinion not what we need at the moment and definitely not to buy as I think there are doubts about his fitness and strength and he needs to prove himself.

If Brooks hasn't

He's not said anything about Brooks telling him to put money on.

It's not an offence to tell people you're moving or might be moving (if he even is of course).

Not sure what to make of him coming back. He really has struggled with injuries so much.

is that why Norwood has been dropped for Berge I wonder, seeing if its worth doing the deal to get Brooks back

Think berge offers more at this level tbf, he was absolutely class against Leeds

I agree, but Norwood was kind of key last season so it would make sense to test and see before we let him go. Results would suggest its not gone well but up to now Berge is probably our best player this season.

It would be ideal if all 3 midfielders could be solid defensively and attacking but why RCM in particular?

Burge holding means we are defensively stronger, Osborn is a complete box to box player, and we know either wingback can cover as well going backwards.

Admittedly I see Brooks as a 10, playing off a striker but we currently need more goals and more attacking threat. Maybe a couple of players (Brewster and Brooks?) Could get away without being a jack of all trades.

We have effectively been playing with 3 defensive midfielders if any other manager had done this they would have been crucified.

If Brooks is even a slight possibility we have to go for it full tilt. The current midfield is woeful, creatively

It is embarrassingly clear every other clubs fans can see this too.

The fact we let Freeman go out on loan when we had not got a replacement in is ridiculous too.
