If we'd bought this fella for £20 million, one of two things would have happened.

1) We'd have turned him into the worst player on the planet

2) He'd be fantastic for us and his contract would need to be renewed

Either way, he's out the door for a loss, it's just the way United roll

I do agree, but the point is they’re obviously really good players aren’t they so we’d at least we’d have got 3 or 4 years out of them before moving on. If they’d been unreal for us, that 9th place finish could have easily been 6th and then we attract better players in Europe.

We were definitely linked with the likes of Ugurcan Cakir, Emmanuel Dennis, Darwin Nunez & Jonathan David whilst in the PL. I do get the impression Wilder was reluctant to take on much advice or to properly explore the foreign markets... very much to his & our detriment.

But who knows what really happened.
