Player goes in and asks for £x.

Manager doesn’t think player is worth £x and offers £y.

What does this have to do with our transfer budget for next season?!

I support the club in not just giving a contract to Lundstram at the level he’s asked if it’s higher than what they think he’s worth.

I think Wilder is right to not give him a contract if he feels that the wage he wants is not justified.

However, even if Wilder brings a player in to replace him, with the same wage he is on now, he still likely has to pay a transfer fee for the new signing, plus the agent fee is likely to also be higher etc etc.....
Lundstram is not the only player to be questioning his salary, Wilder has already confirmed that.

Anyone think it's some free signings or free signings only?

Every club in the country has lost money and United are no different.

They are currently missing out on around £500,000 a home game from matchday revenue and have also had to pay back roughly £20million to the TV broadcasters, namely Sky Sports.

Added on top of that the recent mortgage taken out against the ground to secure the assets it means the club has had to cut its cloth accordingly for next season.

With that in mind, the Blades boss faces possibly his most difficult transfer window as United manager, with the 2020-21 season expected to start in September.

The reduced budget and quick turnaround ahead of the new campaign presents a huge challenge to Wilder and his head of recruitment Paul Mitchell and the Blades boss admits fans need to understand that signings that were made before last season and, indeed, in January with the arrival of Sander Berge for £22million, are not happening this time round.

After landing his first signing, Wes Foderingham, ahead of the 2020-21 season on a free transfer yesterday, Wilder says he will be looking to exploit the free market again.

"Yeah it will have to be (free signings)," Wilder admitted.

"The chief exec (Stephen Bettis) will be talking about budgets and where we are, really, going forward in discussion with the board so, as always from my point of view, it's about getting the maximum out of what is available.

No shame whatsoever. Embarrassing.

He didn’t say “it’ll have to be free signings”. He said “it’ll have to be” as in the free agency market will have to be looked at. Poor editing by the article that changes its meaning to suggest it’s the only thing we’ll be doing – Wilder didn’t say that.

Shouldn’t you be worrying about a points deduction and relegation to division 3 instead of trolling on here 🐷

Budget alluded to here. No head-turning transfers, will be looking at getting in players to improve, confident we’ll have a stronger squad come end of the window.

I think he'll try and claw some money back from selling 2 or 3 of those who are not first team regulars (Mousse, Robinson, L Freeman). I guess it depends how much the market crashes.

I'd certainly be happy with bringing a few youngsters in, strengthening where he can and looking to try and finish top half next season. It's going to be a difficult season. Second seasons tend to be. Without the ability to freshen it up greatly it's hoping the younger players improve and we can bring in some competition for the ones knocking on a bit.

Apart from the ones who have signed new deals this season I’m sure they all think that they are now underpaid as a top 10 PL player. However I don’t think that the right response is to just give them all what they want. I’d be heavily incentivising staying up and top 10 again next season to get them focused.

Chris Wilder: drinks orange energy drink instead of water on touchline.

S24SU: think this means we're selling JOC and only getting free transfers.

Some of the most random conclusions that have ever been drawn.

Won't be great, probably the league's lowest by a decent amount.

Survival is still the primary aim.

Your losing 2-0 at Fulham and division 3 gets ever closer, meanwhile you’ve gone past 600 posts on here, you obsessed 🐷

600 posts talking about football and Blades, or 80 posts incorrectly shouting 'pig' at a leicester/Blades fan........

I'd rather have my problem not yours.

From the start I have always said I am a Leicester fan and a follower of the Blades....

I've explained this multiple times, and it seems only you have come to your conclusion.
Maybe you just lack something very basic to comprehend what I am saying?

I wonder why you got banned off here before you returned 2 weeks ago?

I keep saying it ! if we dont add quality and pace this window next season will be a struggle.
Wilder said himself stand still and we go backwoods.
2nd season syndrome looms large we have to strengthen.
I agree with that apart from the 2nd season syndrome point.

Second season syndrome is a load of bollocks.

Never been banned 🐷 So let me see if I’ve got this right? You’re a Leicester fan that follows the blades, who used to go on the Leicester forums under joemattockhitswomen, but don’t bother going on now because they’re all suicide stricken? You then pretended you didn’t say that your username wasn’t joemattockhurtswomen but won’t reveal what name you used on Leicester forum because you’re a full of shit, transparent trolling 🐷 I defy any football fan in this country to find me one person who supports another club but lives on another clubs forum because he follows them as well? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

You’re a Leicester fan that follows the blades - Yes

who used to go on the Leicester forums under joemattockhitswomen - I've already told you once about this, the fact you still think this is my username is worrying.

I defy any football fan in this country to find me one person who supports another club but lives on another clubs forum because he follows them as well? - I don't live in Sheffield anymore, so believe it or not, it's kind of difficult to find Blades fans to discuss Blades in Leicestershire (Technically, I have a CV Coventry postcode).

Wilder confirmed on an interview today that there will be no big “head turning” summer signings. Suspect the budget is £10-£20m in total tops.

What's your definition of a head turning transfer? £20m is barely head turning for a Premier League team.

And how does no head turning signings equal a £10-20m budget?

We could sign 6 £8m players and spend the best part of £50m.

£10-20m is suicidal given what we need, and won't happen. We've been hit by Covid and we've lost a few million from crowds not being there, but we've got more prize money than expected, will get sell ons if Bournemouth go down and sell Brooks and Ramsdale, have a few players to sell ourselves, and the Prince has taken out a mortgage so as not to dent our ability to spent the PL money too much.

Every season we've got a sixpence and some belly button fluff for transfers based on nothing remarks during interviews. Has nobody heard of keeping your cards close to your chest?

Doesn't he say "no MORE head turning signings"? Which would indicate Berge, McBurnie, Mousse

Moose was hardly head turning unless it was in a "why have they signed that bloke who hasn't scored for Bournemouth" way.

Berge is the only head turning transfer we've made in my opinion, so we won't be signing any £22m Champions League players that are on Liverpool's radar, which I wouldn't expect us to to be honest.

We've stopped guessing who we're going to sign and now how big the budget is we're going to sign people with. Got to love the transfer window.

So what username do you use on the Leicester forums?
With respect that's none of your business.

Why don't you just stop trolling and see if you can find something sensible to say somewhere in your grey matter, if you have any grey matter that is.

We've not seen any evidence of it yet and you're getting on my tits.

He’ll just reply with ‘f*cking unbelievable’ or something of that ilk. Might call you a crackhead or infer you have an IQ of 3.

All very fun.

I think Chrissy is just doing what he always does by keeping his cards close to his chest. Do I expect a couple of free signings? Definitely! And why wouldn’t we look at that market.
I think there will be an enquiry or two with regard to loans also.
But I’m thinking there will still be a good few mil (30m) spent on 2/3 players also.
All speculation from me of course... I guess we’ll all know soon enough.

Got players like Hendrick without a club at the moment, that would be a decent free for example.

£10-20 m is not that bad if its to cover the wage bill of 6 x £40k a week out of contract players or from bankrupt clubs. That £2m a year per player or given we budgeted for 17th and we are 8th at £2m per PL position, its a "unexpected" windfall for our budget. With Wilder's acumen it should prove a decent market for what we need.
