The fact that most Blades fans know this and yet still celebrate Evans or thing this is something to be joked about. The way he was applauded at Bramall Lane when warming up etc used to make my skin crawl. Rape is rape, and this case had the opportunity to set precedent in the law. It worries me that seemingly a large number of people know the details of this case and would still choose to support this man.The original conviction was based on her conscience state being not of sound body or mind. She was deemed too intoxicated to consent.
Yea she seemed to have a problem with her memory as she did against the rugby player beforeYeah, awful business that. Guy barging into his mate’s hotel room and having sex with a girl who couldn’t remember it. He was really screwed as he wandered back into football while she had to move house and change her name more than once.
Keir Starmer was DPP then by the way, but yep blame the women trying to up the shameful rape conviction rate.
Did quite well for Norwich in the Championship as a 20 year old, the season before we signed him.Was L1 standard and no better.
Also the girl didn’t remember (or at least was very vague with her recollection) because she was very drunk the night before. I don’t know because I wasn’t there but the evidence in court stated that she was conscience at the time. The original conviction was based on her conscience state being not of sound body or mind. She was deemed too intoxicated to consent.
The inadmissable evidence, video of her hunting down her pizza would suggest otherwise. The fact that most Blades fans know this

It’s not about celebrating the man for me. I just that picture being painted was more of one I’d expect to read in a tabloid by the post I quoted.
Yeah, makes sense?![]()
That time I had sex then afterwards the girl said, 'I didn't really want that.'But I guy being accused of rape when he believes he’s had consensual relations is not the same as a guy forcing himself upon another person.
Wasn't suggesting you were one of the ones celebrating him fella sorry if that didn't come across, was just quoting you as you laid out the facts of the caseIt’s not about celebrating the man for me. You clearly didn't follow it that closely then as it was quite a big part as to how the actions of the two differed, but do we really have to go through this again and again and again?Hmmm I followed the case very closely and tell me how one can be cleared but the other one was charged
But here's where we disagree. Most people think of rape as being something that happens to women walking alone at night, violently attacked by a stranger. Obviously this does happen, but actually the majority of sexual assaults are committed by someone who is known to the survivor. Just because someone hasn't physically forced themselves onto someone else doesn't mean it isn't rape. The survivor in this case was intoxicated, which meant she couldn't consent. I would imagine we've all had sex when we're drunk, but it's times like that where it's really really crucial that those involved make sure their partners are comfortable and happy going ahead. It's not that hard. It's the fact that some Blades feel that Evans did nothing wrong in this situation that I find worrying, because it implies that they might be making similar decisions to Evans that night.Rape is rape. I don’t agree with this statement. Forget Ched and what anyone thinks happened that night.

I just thought the term ‘barged’ was inaccurate and painted the incorrect picture.
But ultimately I agree with this, we don't need to have this conversation again and again on this forum. He's not our player anymore, nor will he ever be again. You clearly didn't follow it that closely then as it was quite a big part as to how the actions of the two differed, but do we really have to go through this again and again and again?

As the woman had gone back to the motel with McDonald the judge accepted that they'd agreed to sex (I can't remember exactly how it was put but that was the crux of it).Hmmm I followed the case very closely and tell me how one can be cleared but the other one was charged
I think you need to be careful of your phrasing here. The question was whether Evans could reasonably believe he had consent, not if he definitively did because the onus is on the prosecution to prove he couldn't have. The survivor in this case was intoxicated, which meant she couldn't consent.
How many goals does he have to score for Fleetwood before we offer him £50k a week on a 5 year deal?! There was a thread along these lines from one of the Cheddites a few years ago![]()
