The tv companies who like it or not hold a gun to the heads of clubs in the prem. They would surely not go away quietly from agreements formed between the prem and them selves.Completing the season would help problems arising from the season being scraped by giving them what they have paid for which is a full season of prem football even if it finishes 12 months late. Then next season we can see what would be the best way forward after knowing how things stand at the time.Lets not try to cross bridges until we get to them. Also don't forget other sponsors who have put their money into the season so far what would they think?Would they want their money back ?Do you not think that mid-table clubs like Burnley, Palace, Everton, Newcastle and Southampton would rather complete the current season?
That way they get this season’s £100M (or whatever) + an almost certain guarantee of next season’s Premier League money + an outside chance of Europe next season in some cases.
Why would this group of clubs agree to abandon the season and Millions of pounds?
Sky won’t be paying out for an abandoned season. They will have to pay out when it finishes (I.e. whenever it’s safe to do so)
If the programme is about Scottish football it cant be on more than 10 minutes can it ..... Scottish footballBetter than not finishing it at all.
I listened to Off the Ball on Radio Scotland at lunchtime (worth a listen - about Scottish football primarily but quite funny too) and an expert on there dropped out that he thinks it will be October before life is fully back to normal.
Curtailed season back in the news again today. All teams to have played 29 games. Talking about behind closed doors games of Villa vs Blades and City v Arsenal. Then final positions as of 29 games.
Bullshit.Football is done for at least 18 months anything else is bollocks.
Better than not finishing it at all.

We are waiting to see if China gets a second wave of cases, cases in Italy are peaking according to experts and we will be watching Italy too. I think there are so many people who have had the virus without realising it because this one seems to be very catching . You and I may have already have had it. We are still waiting for evidence that the virus will affect you again even if you already have had it and your body fought against it.
Realistically:-
Finish Premier League season first. Max 10 games. 2 games per week. 5 weeks
Finish FA cup Max 3 games. 2 weeks
Finish Euro competitions. QF onwards being one game on a neutral ground. Max 4 games. 2 weeks.
The full current season can be completed in 9 weeks. Most teams will get a 4 week break between seasons. Plenty of time to organise the fixtures etc.
FA cup teams will get two weeks break. Any team in both a Euro and FA cup final might not get a break but they have already had a long rest period and teams in that category have massive squads and can cope anyway.
So the new season starts 9 weeks later than the current one has restarted.
No League Cup. No League Trophy. No International breaks.
Play 2 games a week and get 38 games done in 19 weeks.
Grand total to complete 2 league seasons is 28 weeks. 7 months. The restart could be in November and there would still be time before the International Euros.
If the restart is any earlier than November there would be time for a shortened FA Cup and Euro Cups next season also.
If it’s any later than November the second league season might need to be halved.
Any flaws in that plan?
Bullshit.
Yes we are waiting for evidence and waiting for various tests and waiting for a vaccine. All things that won't happen quickly. Certainly not for the vast majority of the population for a long time.
Yes, the minute one player has the virus. Everything is postponed again and then the whole thing is up in tatters.
How is that going to be any different if they scrap the current season and start a new one?
You mentioned playing again in 6 months+ previously which fits in with the rough timescale I’ve suggested.
Now you seem to be saying that no games can be played again until the virus is completely eradicated?
The key point is there needs to be some flexibility built in and next season may need to be shortened if necessary.
But no clubs will suffer from next season being reduced as it hasn’t even started yet.
Sunday times claiming lockdown until June and social distancing after that into the autumn.

I agree if they play any football at any point even a year- 18 months they should finish this season. they wont as the majority will want it canned (only 14 needed for this decision remember) but as others have said it could be 6 months before the society gets back to any kind of normality not football restarting.
I will be stunned if we ever see this season completed in any capacity and pleasantly surprised as it will mean there has been huge developments in testing, vaccines and some control to the virus spreading but these things are a long time away.
I dont think they will start a new one either.
My point is I dont think there will be any football sustainable for more than a few weeks if they tried to restart. Not sure the virus will be eradictaed completely but in terms of future games and sport, these will be right at the bottom of the pile and rightly so. The experts have said social distancign will continue in some form for 18 months and that is why with sport being so low down in priorities of any return to normal life will see essential areas prioritised first in coming back (Schools/other services/essental industry/supply chains). Maybe they may get some games in under closed doors in a years time but again it would be like a 10 game season -unless they change the schedule but they have planned the Euros for next summer now. That is why I feel 2021-22 is more realistic. Hope I am wrong but it aint coming back in July that is for sure.
If football is gone for 18 months, we can kiss bye bye to 80% of the clubs in the league at a minimum. How do Port Vale (picking a random example) survive paying staff and players (all contracted) with no gate reciepts or season ticket sales for months and months?
If that sort of social distancing is in place for 18 months we can kiss bye bye to 80% of pubs.
If nurseries are closed for 18 months we can kiss bye bye to 100% of my sanity![]()
Thats not what the Deputy Chief Medical Officer said. She "warned" it could carry on till June and added "I am not saying we will have a lockdown till June". She was estimating we would be in same place China is now end of June. Reviewed every three weeks. I reckon end of May.
Why is this not possible for us ? This is China.

No medical training but as the virus continues to spread , herd immunity will happen anyway , no stopping it just an attempt to keep the peak down a bit.Unless we change tact and go for the herd immunity and accept people will die (not gonna happen) then I think June is just wishful thinking.
We don’t know enough about the virus for a start and if you can transmit it without showing symptoms yourself as some people have stated then we are up shit creek until an effective vaccine is produced.
If we ban all international travel and quarantine the Uk until we have no new cases at all then we might even finish this season next year.
Some of the the inhuman selfish reactions on here confirm my view that a large percentage of posters on this forum would have made excellent SS death camp guards.
People are dying in their hundreds but waiting until July for football to resume is a bit of a hardship for you...
I’ll believe it when it’s reported somewhere other than the Express.
