I dont get the behind closed doors mantra you are safer in a football stadium than in a pub
If you are going to close football stadia then you must close all pubs etc, all public transport especially the tube network in London as that must be the easiest place to catch this virus, but I bet they wont do that
It’s not rocket science is it? The problem with a lot of posts is that people start with want they want and then work backwards to construct an argument to support it. And when they’ve done so, they believe that’s the only valid argument and they’re right. It’s been mentioned that these government actions aren’t to stop the virus....they are theirs to slow it down...so there are no massive spikes.
So first they’ll try football grounds.....and hope it’s a slow increase.
If there is a fast increase in cases....then another target will be chosen...be it pubs, clubs, shops etc.
I see that in Italy there are still large increases..therefore yesterday the Italian government ordered non food shops to temporarily close their shop.
Nobody’s suffering. We’re pissed off, fed up and want to go to the football. It’s not really suffering. They need to start making some decisions sooner rather than later. Only the fans who will suffer the longer the uncertainty goes on.
They won't CANCEL the season.
You still need to keep infrastructure running, otherwise you are looking at societal collapse.
Why exclude people from football stadia then
I thought the reason for all these restrictions was to keep people safe and stop them from contracting and spreading this virus if so closing the tube network down would be a far better way than excludung people from football stadia. You are extremely unlikely to catch this virus in a football ground
Because nobody needs to be in a football stadium. People need to get to work or the country will have severe economic and functional problems. Why exclude people from football stadia then

Where is all this spare equipment hidden at the moment?School closures would free up vital space for make shift hospitals. You are correct, we wouldn't need to build but simply requisition buildings and then ship equipment in.
Anyone know 16 across?
It will be suspended, not cancelled. What do you think will happen when the first Premier League player tests positive?
I can live with the not going, it's just football afterall but I'd sooner have some clarity so I can get on with the rest of my life. From a financial perspective I'd at least like to know whether I should be booking train tickets etc.Nobody’s suffering. We’re pissed off, fed up and want to go to the football. It’s not really suffering.
That is not a problem for me but obviously one for the government to sort.Where is all this spare equipment hidden at the moment?
Probably the same reason Solskjaer and Guardiola want it cancelling.Pep and solskjaer want season paused/stopped...klopp is unusually quiet on this one..I wonder why??![]()
Because footballs stadiums aren't infrastructure.
If you close down trains. buses, tube etc, people who work in hospitals can't get to work. Police can't get to work, people who run Vital national infrastucture can't get to work.
No one in these professions got cars? Can't they implement car share schemes? Taxis? Walk? Cycle?
As said on R4, the govt can tell the broadcasters to withdraw rights to show matches from pubs to counter this problem.
Oh thanks for that info. I've never heard of them but then I've never needed one. Long may that be the caseSounds like a cough assist device (or mechanical insufflator-exsufflator. Not suitable for everyone with a chronic lung disease but used quite extensively on intensive care.
Completely impractical in London when people commute from places like Colchester, there aren’t enough taxis, nowhere to park cars, roads already too busy. Having worked in London during a tube strike I can safely say it wouldn’t work.Well for me personally, if the train network was closed, it’d be a £60 taxi each way to get into work.

It’s looking like games may be suspended.Telegraph reporting one side has players being tested as three have shown signs of having it.
Then they will have to check on every team they have played against for last two weeks if they are positive. And so on.
Yes, unfortunately this is real life, not one of those fox, chicken, boat problems they give you in training courses. Not to mention that the motorway system would be fucked if everyone got in their cars.
