So read it then.

Most people who are young or healthy and who contract the virus don’t get severely ill. But if you have the virus, even if you don’t get that sick, you might come into contact with people who are more at risk — and pass the virus to them. That’s why it’s so important to stay home if you’re not feeling well. Minimizing the number of people each sick person infects is low-tech, but it’s the best way to slow the spread of a disease like COVID-19. It’s the goal of policies like school closures and event cancellations and why people who might have been exposed to the illness are asked to isolate themselves.

Not everyone can work from home, stop taking public transportation, or skip large gatherings, though. If you can do those things — even though they may seem silly and even if there have not been many cases identified in your area — you can help blunt the impact of the pandemic.
but even the government are saying we havent reached that point on the up curve yet
isolate the most vulnerable now yes
just had one on tv saying isolating now is too soon , people will get fatigued of isolation and end up going out when its at its peak

PSG fans around 3000 turned up to protest hours before last nights game totally negating the gathering idea and around 10000 were crammed in bars around it watching on tv so it achieved absolutely zero

Equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome. Do your best, because that's all anyone can ask of you. And aim high, because you might be able to be a brain surgeon, even though you come from a shitty estate and go to an under-funded state school. Not sure how that follows on to the behaviour you describe.

I see it as a direct result of the cult of the individual, the "I'm all right Jack" mentality, and the media demonisation of 'experts' that has been prevalent since the 80s. The whole "Why should I modify MY behaviour because it might put someone else at risk" thing.

Either way up, the misplaced scepticism around advice is daft, we agree. It's little things as well - I wash my hands, but I know I wasn't doing it for 20 seconds every time. I'm 50, so I have a lifetime of action to overcome to cough/sneeze into my elbow. If the official advice becomes "Don't go to football matches", I'll cope
I agree with that completely. I'm from a poor family on a shitty council estate and I had people who encouraged me to aim high, and I'm where I am now because of it. Similarly, there were people who might not have been particularly intellectually gifted but through hard graft secured their future and made something of themselves.

However, there are also people who see a doctor living in a big house and think it's unfair, because they deserve that too. They've always been told they're just as good as anyone else, so they think this should manifest itself in the trappings of wealth too. They have a BMW; I want one. They go on two foreign holidays a year; I want that too. What they don't see is the years of training, or the long hours the doctor works every week, or the knowledge that a misdiagnosis could lead to someone's death. So it follows naturally that if I'm as good as them, my opinion is just as valid.

The amount of coverage the Premier League gets and apparently a stream is an adequate replacement for the price of a season ticket? Fuck off. We have one game remaining that’s not on tv so basically we’re getting no benefit at all as season ticket holders.

These people just don’t get it and this is complete proof of it.

I’m not bemoaning the actual action of the games behind closed doors per se, if that’s what’s required then fair enough but don’t take the piss out of supporters by suggesting that a stream is anything like the same as being at a game. The clubs, especially at Premier League level should be thinking about refunding the remaining games. Its not like they are desperate for the cash.

As a minimum they should knock off the costs of the games behind closed doors from our season tickets for next season.

That is one hell of a straw man you've just built there.

Do you think that’s down to educational policies or the constant bombardment of advertising and marketing that pushes the agenda that your worth as a person is defined by what you own? That’s been the narrative since the 80s, at least.
Equality isn’t about everyone having the same amount of wealth- that’s communism. Equality is about equal rights.

Bit of both, to be honest. And yeah, I completely agree.

Yes, really. It has a 2% mortality rate. Of those 2%, 80% are already in hospital or have underlying health issues.

I for one am not worried whatsoever. Even though I have underlying health issues - epilepsy.

Mortality rate of concluded cases is currently sitting at 6% with 11% of all active cases resulting in a severe or critical condition needing hospital treatment.

If needed postpone games until safer and delay season finish.

Do same abroad and cancel Euros and play next summer.

New season could start a little later with some mid week league games replacing a scrapped league cup. This allows next season to finish on time.

Job done.

Still hope they do this but fear behind closed doors will prevent us enjoying the season finale.

Can we just deal with this death rate for the over 80s Bollocks. In Italy, the over 80s are not dying of CoronaVirus. They're dying of not being treated for CoronaVirus.

More Junior Dr to More Senior Dr
I have 30 patients with CoronaVirus who need to be on a ventilator to survive. But, I've only got 20 ventilators. What do I do Boss?
More Senior Dr
FFS, are you sure? I'm not God. They don't teach you this in Senior Dr School. No choice. Him, him, her, that married couple, your Dad - we'll just have to let them die.

I don't want anyone dying in those circumstances. I don't want Doctors (Mrs Ball Sup is one) having to make those choices. But, others do..... "because the over 80s"

Saturday's game could be behind closed doors - Wilder
Newcastle v Sheffield United (Saturday, 15:00 GMT)
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has been speaking before Saturday's game against Newcastle and says the game could be played behind closed doors.
“Yeah, I think it’s coming, maybe even in the next 24 to 48 hours," Wilder said.
"It might even happen for Newcastle. I know there is a meeting at 11 o’clock and I know it’s picked up pace over the last day or so”

And you still arent allowed to watch a 3pm kick off, they wont relax it even when fans are not allowed to go, the FA is a joke

I’ve watched every 3pm kick-off away game I’ve not been to this season...

But yeah, all of this is fucking shit. Why couldn’t it have happened in the Clough/Adkins days?

And you still arent allowed to watch a 3pm kick off, they wont relax it even when fans are not allowed to go, the FA is a joke

Got to admit I didn't get that at all - I thought the whole point of not allowing 3pm kickoffs to be broadcast live here is to protect attendances - which there obviously won't be in this scenario.

I doubt we'd get a refund but I would be annoyed to not be able to legally stream 3pm kickoffs that no one is even attending.

So far the government has followed medical advice that has insisted the congregation of large crowds at outdoor events is not dangerous. However, it is the close proximity of supporters travelling, especially on trains, that is now seen as the biggest threat.
If this the case then surely it applies to all trains and the answer is to shut down the transport system rather than cancel the leisure activities?

I would have thought that televising will happen but be banned from showing in pubs to stop people congregating in groups in confined places.

An another topic do you think they will be allowed to play a recorded crowd GCB before the game to give the lads a lift.

If there's a move to ban supporters from stadiums it's almost nailed on pubs won't be able to show any of the televised games either as it's just moving one problem area to another.

But pubs aren't only busy when the football is on, shouldn't we be closing pubs, clubs and restaurants until further notice?

Also make the televised games free for everyone to encourage them to stay at home - it that's where the government are looking to go. It wouldn't be difficult for the broadcasters to do this.

If they are wanting to delay the spread then I would expect that anything is possible.

Football without fans isn't football anymore. Suspend the league and resume it at a more appropriate time (the euros are going to get canned anyway).
Suppose we will get to appreciate what majority of Man Utd fans have been doing for years ... ie not attending matches ...watching on tv ... hey ho ... health is more important!!

It’s been mentioned that these government actions aren’t to stop the virus....they are theirs to slow it down...so there are no massive spikes.
So first they’ll try football grounds.....and hope it’s a slow increase.
If there is a fast increase in cases....then another target will be chosen...be it pubs, clubs, shops etc.
I see that in Italy there are still large increases..therefore yesterday the Italian government ordered non food shops to temporarily close their shop.

At least around the times of the games. Ban away supporters, control public transport. If that's the problem, as they say, then that is what should be regulated, not the event which has minimal risk.

They need to start making some decisions sooner rather than later. Only the fans who will suffer the longer the uncertainty goes on.

It's inevitable that this season is going to be cancelled / suspended. This issue isn't a storm in a teacup.

I dont get the behind closed doors mantra you are safer in a football stadium than in a pub
If you are going to close football stadia then you must close all pubs etc, all public transport especially the tube network in London as that must be the easiest place to catch this virus, but I bet they wont do that
