This kosher?

How can he deny it when he's been properly tested, it's surely a matter of fact not opinion?

Maybe he has a smart arse lawyer that thinks he's found a procedural loophole?

If that's the case then I'd have a lot more respect for him if he just held his hands and said "I've been a twat", took his medicine and got on with life.

Yeah it's kosher. He allegedly blew 53 but claims to have had just 1 drink.

NPR radio over here this morning had a timely program on the poor maintenance and calibration of breathalyzers in the US. Erroneous reasoning are common with the hand held machines.

i was once stopped for drink driving and sent some crystals, a very thin line over the limit. I protested I hadnt been near a drink just had a bag of crisps
was arrested locked up and gave a blood sample
About a month later police called to say sorry my blood sample showed no trace of alcohol, but it was something in a bag of spicey monster munch that had reacted with the crystals
So there should be some leeway in breath tests as they are obviously not infallible

Maybe the coppers arrested a tramp with a primark woolly owl jumper and some ‘pony island’ joggers on who’d nicked his car, tested him and arrested him.

They ran the plates, saw it was McBurnie’s car, put 2 + 2 together but actually our Oli was at home all the time tucked up in bed after an evening of Netflix and cocoa.

The tramp was too pissed to give his name so they just assumed it was Oli and it’s all got blown out of proportion from there?

It's a massive fee for us.
That’s because we’ve been out of the PL for years. It’s still not a big fee by PL standards and that’s the standards we now have to be judged by, the standards we now have to match. It doesn’t get you a ready made, proven at PL level striker, it gets you someone who might be able to step up. So we have to wait to see if they do.

Monster much with wine gum chasers ....... I can see a business opportunity here! Might even throw in a D-Taxi to take you home.

Getting spiked.

Better known as the Jose Baxter defence.

I've spent a whole lifetime buying my own drink & drugs, I'd be grateful if someone could point me in the direction of the establishments where both drinks & drugs are slipped into your drinks for free. Put that money away Mr.Copernicus, let me slip a couple of grams of high quality Colombian marching powder into your Strawberry Daiquiri, it's on the house! I insist!

Thanking you in advance. 👍

The fact that his drink was laced without his knowledge would not be a “defence” to the charge of driving with excess alcohol but could amount to a “ special reason” for not either endorsing his licence and/ imposing the mandatory disqualification of at least 12 months. McB would have to produce evidence (by calling witnesses) to establish that his drink had been laced and that he was not aware of it and that the lacing accounted for him being over the limit. The court would have to consider all the circumstances including probably the manner of his driving. It would probably mean calling the person who laced the drink to give evidence and that person could themselves be at risk of prosecution. Not easy and if the court did not believe him it is likely he would end up with a much stiffer penalty. Not an east case to put forward but GLTTL.

Or CCTV footage that establishes reasonable doubt?

A couple of grams of high quality cocaine in a strawberry daiquiri would be interesting.

I agree with all of that. Just think we've backed the wrong horse.

That must have been a while ago don’t think they’ve used breathalysers with crystal tubes for thirty odd years

Seems like he's liable to be our biggest waste of money. He looks like a right cockwomble when pictured off the pitch. Looks half cut when he's on the pitch.

Sell him in January, flopped on the pitch (so far) and brings too much infamy off it.

I can't believe the negativity towards him just because he's not looked like a £20m forward doesn't mean he'll not prove to be a great player for us. Not all players hit the heights they did at their last club right at the beginning. I've seen enough of McBurnie on the pitch to see how he could be a real handful for us.

The drink driving incident is regrettable but that is a separate issue and if its true that he only had one pint than he can consider himself unfortunate to be done, but some will say that he shouldn't have drank anything.

If we sold him in January we'd be taken a loss on him and we'd need to replace him with someone else. It wouldn't be good business, he needs to the end of the season minimum.

Remember a few years Andy Carroll taliking about how he needed to stay away from Newcastle. Same seems to apply to Mcburnie and Leeds. Give a young daft lad 40 k a week and bring him back to his mates up north is an accident waiting to happen. Needs tight management but his tweets supporting Swansea and nothing for United suggest more needs to be done. Cmon Ollie get on board there is a Blades legend in there.

He has being supportive of United from what I've seen. Regularly posts on how he's looking forward to playing for us and re-tweeted just yesterday on a post about Saturday coming.

He needs a goal for confidence but he's not the only one in that boat.

I've read most of his twitter posts and I've not seen anything where I thought that he was acting like a tool. I know you've not said that but a few have. So he went in the Swansea end and had some banter with the away fans. If this was one of our ex players then we'd be loving the fact he came in our end. I respect the fact that he really has an affinity with Swansea as too many players move on and then seem to instantly change the twitter pic to their new club, say the new clubs great and then never mention their old club again.
