McBurnie Drink Driving bust

You would not get a reading of 53 in breath on two pints unless you were drinking very strong beer. Normal beer at say 4% you would not be over the limit on just 2 pints (but don’t rely on this!).

Will never fail to entertain me that people apparently exactly know how much our players are on 😂

All of what are the First XI are now certainly over 10k

At least his fine got reduced by 5% to only £28500 plus ban can also be reduced to 12 months rather than 16 by attending a driver rehabilitation course. There's always positives from negatives. I'm not in the taxi trade either.😎 I do not condone his actions either. Lesson to be learnt.😯

I think even the few youth players like Slater will be high enough to not bring the average anywhere near £10k. If McBurnie is on £20k as a new acquisition, and a medium/high earner in our squad some of our players would have to be on £500 a week or something. It's bollocks.

It's put a crimp on Owlstalk's day anyway finding out that McBurnie isn't on £50k a week, so that's good.

" Despite not smoking, he had visited the garage to buy cigarettes for a female friend who was with him in the car and had not realised he was over the limit, the court heard".

He sounds like a true gentleman. "You stay there my dearest, I shall fetch these cigarettes for you, although I don't smoke myself you realise?".

Hmm! 🤔

I wonder if he was holding a lit cigarette later when the police stopped him? "Just holding it for a friend" - it's an excuse I once tried to make when caught smoking, but no one believed me.

Anyhow, he's a grown man, physically, and he can do what the hell he likes I guess - but he should try and stay within the law when driving. Hopefully he will learn a lesson from this?

Footballers and fast cars eh? They are essential kit I suppose. It sounds like if he hadn't been driving at excessive speed he might not have been stopped. More fool him.

Almost every day I hear the roar of a Lamborghini, an orange one, driven by a Sheffield United footballer, speeding past our house. It's a 30mph zone around here. Driven like a prat. I've no sympathy for McBurnie and I'll have even less sympathy for the orange Lambo driver if he knocks over a young child or old age pensioner, as a result of excessive speeding.

The Orange Lambo is Moose’s

The Sun article didn't mention a ban, which is very strange as that's the most imprtant part of the ruling! Brilliant reporting by the Sun as ever!
It says 16 months on that Sun article, it does now anyway.

He certainly isn’t the sharpest tool in the box.

Anyhow let’s hope it’s lesson learned.

The Sun doesn’t mention ban but the ITV article did. There is a mandatory 12 month minimum ban but this can be reduced by 1/4 if he agrees to attend a course. In his case he got 16 months with reduction to 12 if he does the alcohol offenders course. Hefty fine but not if you earn what he does. I would think the ban will hit him the most! Anyone fancy a chauffeurs job?

The chauffeur is required at all times to wear an Orange Foil CP Company goggle jacket, Dead Kennedys tee shirt, Raspberry Moncler shorts, gold Vivian Westwood riggers, Tom Ford pink lens aviators and a Rangers beanie.

So you don't take the attention off Oli.

The drink drive limit in England is about 3.8 units.
To blow that level he must have had about 6 units.
Thats not quite two pints of Kronenbourg.

The drink drive limit is a lot lower than a lot of people seem to casually assume it to be.

As I write this I have had about seven units, and cant yet tell I have had a drink, much.
But I'm now twice over the limit!!

Oli, just incase you do read this, I'm happy to drive you around in one of your vehicles, Monday to Friday, between the hours of 7am and 6pm, for the measly sum of £1500per week!!
Discretion garaunteed!!!

Let's hope this serves as grow up warning. Recent performances hopefully show Wilder has clipped his wings, for me the jury is still out on McBrunie as a player but getting his attitude and behaviours nailed down is a great baseline. Forget Swansea and getting pissed up at their games and feel lucky and proud to have the opportunity many only dream about, being a Premier League football star at a top club.

Just in the interests of "scientific research" for this thread, I have kept a eye on what I have drunk tonight.
That would be two cans of Scrumpy Jack, two of Tesco own brand chemical cider, and a glass of some fruity shite earlier on....

That is not exactly a lot, but its me gone by being three times over the limit :O
That is into High Risk Offender land....and Im still not feeling very pissed :D

Love the fact they had to get the 'despite not smoking' bit in there.

Says a lot about society when drink drinking is more acceptable from a professional athlete than smoking.

I think he's been a lot better representative for our club since he got charged. Admittedly I don't see everything he posts on social media but when I do, it's usually supportive of us, or his mates, or he's engaging with fans. That and the odd "sat on a settee in a bucket hat" post.

And he obviously works hard on the pitch.

Speaks well too. Never had a problem with him anyway, but he's doing the things that will make less people have a problem with him.

Knowsnowts had a drink again klaxon
Yeah I have, as it was my sons 18th tonight. Shame my nephew couldn't be there. Sadly a 22yr old just over the limit hit him at 105mph on a footpath.
Kinda gives you a dislike of drunk drivers.

Where on earth have they said that drink driving is more acceptable than smoking? In fact, where has any press report suggested anywhere that drink driving is in the least bit acceptable?

Think the vast majority of people agree that drink driving is a cunts trick.

He is a youngish lad, and a lot of young kids fuck up (although most don't get nicked drink driving I suspect).....however, as a figure somewhat in the public eye he will be scrutinised more closely whether that is right or not.

End point is nobody got hurt. If any over the limit driver killed one of your kids though, you would literally want to chop them up into oxo cube sized pieces.
