I'd argue Mane and Salah had at least 3 glorious sniffs between them.

Improve (ie cut out lapses in concentration) and maintain over a longer period than 9 games.

Keep all of our guys well away from the internationals. especially the defense,until we have reliable back ups. A defense of Stears, Keiran, Ben and Jags for the rest of the season, seems a bit weak. Nice as it is for them, we're the priority - no need to add extra games in different systems that risk their fitness.

We don’t but he’s right that we don’t want any of our defenders being called up, particularly JOC. As soon as they get with the players who play for top six clubs they get their heads turned. That could still happen anyway if they keep playing like they have.
It’s bad enough that we have to see Stevens and Egan risking injury with ROI but at least we’ve got cover for them.
Ultimately it’s inevitable that we‘ll become victims of our own success if we stay up but at least if we stay up and end up having to sell a couple of players, CW should be able to deal with it.
I suppose I’m saying I just want our better players to stay under the radar until after the JTW but if they keep performing like they did on Monday there’s not much chance of that.

Eddie Howe. I’m not saying he’s a better manager than Wilder but Howe fits the profile perfectly. Nice football, sounds a bit posh, probably looks good in a waistcoat, won’t rock the boat.

He's right in a sense that we don't have cover and can't really afford to see any of the defenders get injured. In terms of players attracting interest from the bigger clubs, I'm less worried, personally.

I think you're right that if one of our players were to get an England call up, they would eventually have their heads turned. However, as you say, that will likely happen anyway, and at least if they're in the England squad, their value will likely soar.

I think (perhaps naively) that we will be able to keep the squad together this year, regardless whether or not there's interest in January. The only players I can honestly see getting poached are John Egan and Jack O'Connell. (I think Stevens' age will prevent any serious interest.)
I know there's not much loyalty left in football, but I would like to think that JOC and JE would at the very least finish the season with us. JE clearly loves the club, and obviously has a great relationship with Wilder. O'Connell has had his loyalty tested before by Brighton last summer, I hope that the patience and loyalty he showed then will remain beyond the JTW.

Possibly some wishful thinking there, but I'm a glass half full type of guy.

Plenty of people have mentioned the prospect of Jack O'Connell potentially getting in the England squad. I think that's a tad premature, but if he maintains his good form throughout the season, then it's certainly a possibility.

It got me thinking; who else in our squad could potentially receive international recognition? After looking through the squad, I found 2 potential call-ups.

George Baldock: While his inability to speak the language may be an issue, Baldock is eligible to play for Greece. So far, the full-back has taken to PL football like a duck to water. With him just entering his prime and being apparently obsessed with always working to improve his game, the best may be yet to come.
Greece's current first choice RB is AEK's Michalis Bakakis. I'd be lying if I said I knew anything about him, but with him spending his whole career to date in Greece, it's not inconceivable that Baldock could at least compete for a place with the 28 year old.

Lys Mousset: has featured for the French U21s in the past. With the current holders of the World Cup boasting options such as Mbappe, Griezmann and Lacazette, and call-up to the senior team looks unlikely. He is eligible to play for Senegal however, through his father, so could potentially represent them if he was ever called up.
Senegal do have Mané, though he's more often used as a LW. An opening in the team at CF could potentially be on the cards should Mousset have a good season, with the AFCON finalist's current options being Bristol's Diedhiou, or Rennes' Niang, amongst others.

Unfortunately, attempts to link John Lundstram to a Scandinavian nation were unsuccessful. Looks like he'll have to wait for an England call up.

Baldock is an interesting one but I can't see him fancying that. I'd imagine unless its a home nation where its less hassle travel wise then the stock of international football has fallen so far that players would rather just have the weekend off to go to on holiday or out on the piss.

No, as you will see from other posts I think Keane is one that I cant understand how he has managed to get in recent squads.

But don't forget these clean sheet stats aren't attributable to a single defender. Man United have barely kept a clean sheet but that's no reason not to select Maguire.

As I say, JOC just needs to improve small aspects, maintain high standards and the rest will come. Deservedly so as well.

Had England already qualified for the euro s it's fairly reasonable to expect George, JoC and Lunny to get a call on current form. So cheers Czechs they did us a favour..
