On final thoughts, I'd stick McBurnie in for his debut. He's had a good pre season and is ready. We could do with the aerial outlet he offers and the ability to win the ball.

Oh and on a side note, having just watched McBurnie's pre match presser, I have to say how impressed I was with him. Sounds like he has been here for ages and already comes across as a proper leader, and motivator.

*Personally I would give freeman a start and go for the jugular. And maybe mcburnie if he’s deemed intergraded enough.


I suppose the longer term question is

Who can nail down a starting midfielder slot out of the new signings Morrison, freeman, besic and Osborn.

I did wonder if besic might be considered for the rcb slot but wilder did specifically mention ‘midfielder’ so I expect that’s not the first intention

And whether we find an ideal starting 2/3 up top. All 5 strikers offer something slightly different imo. So it’s exciting to have the options available!

We are probably going to have some good players not even on the bench this season.

At least one of the 5 forwards won’t make it onto the bench.

And Potentially two of Osborn, lundstram, Freeman, Morrison and besic.

It’s a good problem to have and possible a new one for wilder to keep everyone happy after operating on the margin of the budget for so long. I feel like the players like Osborn and bash who can cover a number of positions are gonna become even more important this season - given the competition.

I think there are only really two question marks about who plays Saturday. The defence, inc wingbacks, keeper, and our main two in midfield are all starting. Robinson is the only forward I think is certain to start. There are two other positions up for grabs – a 10 midfield slot for Freeman or possibly McGoldrick, or as a flat midfield 3, plus the other striker.

I think if McBurnie had been with us a few more weeks he’d probably be starting, but think he’ll be on the bench. I’d go with Freeman, McGoldrick and Robinson. I think it’ll be McGoldrick, Robinson and Sharp.

Think he played only second half as hes been playing catch up pre-season for fitness and lacked some game time from the earlier games.

Definately the most interesting position. robbo seems to link better with goldie (from pre-season) and IMO robbo has to start, Sharp almost deserves it but we've spent £17 mill on Burnie and we've been told no place for sentiment, Mousset will be wanting a start when hes up to speed as well.

Maybe robbo and sharp will start with Goldie playing the duffy role and Mcburnie on the bench. Will be hard on whoevers been benched.

Sharp scored more goals last season than McGoldrick, Robinson and McBurnie.
