I friend of mine stayed there for 3 days a few weeks back (Barnsley fan) on way to Australia . She loved it.

I was sat next to a 1st year Chinese student in the Bramall Lane corner stand last season.
Told me that he’s studying English and 100’s of his countryman have come over to study at Sheffield Uni, most of them to study English.

He told me that he’s from Beijing and his team are Beijing Guoan.
Said he was impressed with the standard in our 3rd tier, particularly from United.
Also said he was really impressed with our stadium and size of the crowd, especially as it’s only the 3rd tier.

Told me we were a similar standard to the better teams in the Chinese top division.
He also said his favourite player was Mark Duffy, really liked how he plays.

He said he was a regular at the Lane and would get a season ticket if we were promoted. Also asked him why he supported United and not Wednesday, his reply was Bramall Lane was nearer to where he lived and easier to get to.

Yes, it's in Sheffield, whereas the other ground is somewhere near Barnsley I think.

It's good that Sheffield University is attracting a lot of Chinese students to Sheffield - it's a really good thing for the city this. They bring a lot of investment into the city. And it's really good that Sheffield United are attracting them to our club. There's quite a lot of Chinese stuff going on around S2 so long may it continue. Unlike some foreigners, these Chinese folk work hard and integrate into our society, they're very welcome down at BDTBL.

I worked in China in the early eighties - there was virtually no tourists and it was a very different country back then.

I had to report to the British embassy to state my intentions. Whilst there I went into the pub (The Bell) situated in the embassy grounds. Over the bar was a Blades team photo - Brearley had recently taken the team on tour. Only other foreign teams to have toured back then were Watford (led by Elton John) and West Brom. Only downside the manager was a Leeds fan

Nice pint of John Smiths mind, better than the local pijiu

I'm the founding (and to my knowledge, the only) member of the Beijing Blades!

I'll be dragging my neutral (well more pro United than the pigs) mates into a bar probably in Sanlitun straight after work.
I was a Beijing Blade back in around 2006. Even made a few appearances for Forbidden City FC in the ex-pat leagues. I miss Sanlitun a lot.

Was there in January. My first visit to China. If I'd known I'd have looked you up to see if you could get me a photo with Hao Hang Dong.
