I'd expect any contract to be low wage but significant performance-related aspects and heavy penalties for misbehaviour. But could be a master stroke. He's older and hopefully wiser

have we really got Ravel Morrison from MUFC & on board training with sufc players wow hes got pace just what we need more pace I hope we sign him it would be a real major coup if so yes like i say we usually sell our best players a feeder club yes so hats off to the man in wilder we trust he gives players a chance to shine top fella chris

He’s only a major coup if he fulfils some on his potential. At the moment he’s a risk, that’s more likely to fail than succeed.
Even though he’s very talented let’s not forget that PL clubs won’t touch him with a barge pole, they think he’s a waste of time, a lost cause on the scrap heap.
However I believe he couldn’t have come to a better club to get himself sorted.
There’s a fantastic team spirit at the club and Wilder is a special man manager, can be one of the lads with a sense of humour but also very strict and big on discipline.

Also every club (apart from Real Madrid and Barcelona) sell their best players, it’s not just Sheff Utd.
For example Man Utd sold Ronaldo and `Liverpool sold Saurez and Coutinho, all 3 were their best players at the time,

Not stereotyping him mate, his personal history is in the public domain. If CW wants him on board and he wears our team colours, he will get 100% support from me.

The only time I ever gave very muted applause was when Marlon King scored for us at BDTBL.
Fair enough .I was with you on that pile o shite that was Marlon King. Oh how far we have moved on from players of his calibre. I guess it's always a gamble with any player and we now finally have a management team who spot early those that don't work out and make changes.

Great to see some inherently talented footballers at BDBL. The only way is up. ;)

...Parklife!

No contract until after the away days in Portugal I hope. Will see how the team works and will see loads of you mad buggers out there. Will have lots of opportunities to go off piste, CW will see how he manages it would be my guess.

Not sure how we should handle him. Treat him as an adult with the same rules as other players or put him on a curfew under the watchful eye of an sufc employee living with him or close by.

The lad is bored easily and likes the night life. He may insist that he's going to knuckle down and work but he will have insisted that at his previous clubs too. Stories of private planes and drinking in Stockholm before Ostersunds games don't reassure me.

I'm leaning towards putting him on a stricter curfew than the rest of the squad. That might make him resentful, but he needs to accept that this is his last chance and he has to accept the conditions on offer.

I'm also worried that he may find it difficult to fit into the way we play - one-touch passing can open up a defence more often than individual skill. On many occasions he will be required to release the ball immediately, even if he is in space.

No way will Wilder put curfews and limits to his private life.If he isn't mature enough now to regulate his private life he is no good to us or any club.
This is probably his last chance to become a star Wilder will have all this out with him,the rest is up to him I hope he takes it ,we will have a top class player if he does.

Does anyone know what the actual issue is with Morrison.

I’ve heard reports that he DOESN’T actually drink and isn’t interested in nightlife.
I thought it was more of a motivation/ discipline issue with him and that he had dodgy friends that were a distraction to his career who had a level of control over him.
Apparently he was often late for training and he hated discipline, so fell out when managers tell him what to do.
Haven’t some managers said he just does what he wants, when he wants and that doesn’t fit a pro footballers life, so they’ve let him leave.
Some have actually said his issues might be depression related. He never had a father bringing him up so might struggle with discipline.

Think he needs to be surrounded by top class role models who will be genuine friends to him (we have Sharp, Jags and Norwood)
Also think he needs a manager who can gain his respect as a person, a mans man and role model (that’s Chris Wilder).

Room him with Jags.

Job done. Two Manchester lads, both originally Man U fans. One experienced and super professional, the other a bit of a mavric supposedly who might need keeping on the straight and narrow.

It will be like Fletch and Godber all over again :D

I’d even go as far as to get someone like Jags to pick him up every morning for training - didn’t Morgs do the same for Jags when he was here first time?

I think he's exactly the type we should be signing. Low risk and high reward, give him a 2 year deal with an option for a third he's a prime example of a player that Wilder can get the best out of. Has all the capability to be a great player but just can't match everything up at the same time to make it work on a regular basis.

Wilder does that better than anybody and if we can find a way to get the best out of him he's a player that genuinely was rated higher than Lingard, Pogba etc. He's been away and spent time away from a lot of bad influences in his life i'd imagine and a player of his ability doesn't need to give up valuable pre season time for a free agent without a deal in place and he has done for 2 weeks. I think he'll be desperate to prove he can be the player he really should have been.

I think it would be a better idea to have an appearance based increase in wage in increments of 20 game blocks or something. Wilder has to be able to trust him because this is everything he's built to this point and worked hard to get here I don't think it would be wise to imply big punishments because that creates a bad taste from the start.

Anybody heard how Ravel is getting on in Portugal?
I'm rooting for him to get a deal and be one of CWs masterstokes

I was thinking the same, there’s seems to be very little coming out about Morrison, he’s not really featuring on the club pre season videos either.
Maybe he and SU want to keep a low profile and resist giving him glowing praise too early.
The only thing I’ve found is a Twitter report from earlier today.66C6AD3A-8744-4194-9B7C-0062B58E87DA.png

Was just about to post the same. There was a Star article yesterday too with an interview from one of his coaches in Sweden, quite an interesting insight and talks about them using a psychologist with him. I really do believe CW is the man to finally get him playing well on a regular basis.
