It's only a trial. If he impresses - a take it or leave it (cheap-ish) one year deal, with option to extend if he's a good lad and impresses further. I doubt he's flooded with offers at this moment in time.

Don't see a problem with that route.

History would suggest that Morrisons been in this last chance saloon before and failed, but if anyone can sort him out wilder can ,maybe he's grown up and this is the time and place.

I see this as a very low risk/high reward gamble for Chris Wilder.

If he comes in and starts acting like a knob, then the players are close enough not to stand for it, and Wilder can get rid of him for next to nothing as it is unlikely he will be on a substantial contract.

However if he has got his head down, matured and is willing to make a go of it, there is a squad of players there who will embrace him, a manager who will get the best out of him, and a creative attacking system where I think he will thrive if he gives himself the chance.

I've seen players come in before with question marks about their attitude, Keith Gillespie, Gary Madine and Leon Clarke for starters, only to be pleasantly surprised to see how well they knuckle down and produce the goods and I'm hopeful Ravel Morrison does the same.

One of the best journalist's around is Henry Winter, seems to have a soft spot for United
Always liked Henry although he is a bit of a romantic so this potential turn around would have his journo senses tingling. He does seem to have a fondness for us though particularly The Lane and the Greasy Chip Butty. Think he lives in Notts so he’s not far away.

Remember Winter was one of the few journalists that had the audacity to criticise West Ham in the Tevez affair and he was very supportive of us.

I also remember him reporting back in 2007 how great the atmosphere was at Bramall Lane, better than most PL grounds and i’m sure I remember him attending and raving about the atmosphere and hostility in a league 1 Steel City Derby saying it’s up there with the best.

I believe he went further and gave evidence supporting us in the hearing.

I'd not be surprised at all to see Morrison completely turn his career around with us but ultimately it has to start with him.

Wilder will be putting him alongside Billy and saying 'this is how a model professional acts'. I also reckon Sharp has done a lot that we should be thankful for in terms of creating the team spirit that we have and being a role model to other players, that's his job as Captain. I completely trust both of them to take this risk if they think it's worth it and I'd be excited to watch him play for us.

Wilder is the man to do it. Terrific man manager and will manage him how Morrison likes to be managed - arm round the shoulder, installing a belief in him and to certain extents building a team round him.

I for one will look forward to seeing Morrison In a blades shirt.

Huge talent. We'll be selling him next summer for £15m and we'll be massively disappointed. Think mcgoldrick. If we give him a chance I think he'll take it. All abart opinions :)

I can’t remember him though I must have seen him in the Youth Cup Final at The Lane? What’s his style and qualities? Proper football, I trust?

IMO a poor man's neymar but without the on field theatrics. Lots of tricks and flicks but more a provider rather than an outright goalscorer. Plenty of pace. Think Brooks in a way but more physically built. Off field has obviously been an issue. He would appear to not have applied his talent on the pitch mind. Potential world beater. These low risk chances don't come often. Take him with a performance based wage.

Nwanko kanu but not quite. And obviously not as tall. Has a touch of the ruel fox and Littlejohn about him. Feet maybe quicker than the brain, or fox beating a man 5 times to lose on the 6th try. :D

You beat me too it mate. ;) I was just about to say a cuddle from Chris and Alan and some leadership and education in all things Sheffield United from Billy and all Ravel needs is to do what comes naturally with those undoubtedly talented feet. They'll sort any potential mentality issues out.
Looks like a great addition to me.
Loved Chris's quote too re signings, "Getting a pint out of a half pint pot".Business as usual.UTB

Well, as I have said in other threads, I didn't really know much about him, because I only really have an interest in the Blades, unlike some of you guys who seem to know a lot more about rival teams and players.

After reading up about Morrison's "private life", I have to admit he seems like a Gary Madine type, in respect to the "baggage" he brings with him.

As far as a player, I would say he sounds more like a Jose Baxter than a Ched Evans. Apart from the obvious incident, I don't remember Ched being involved in too many off-field antics. Baxter was another with a ton of potential who just couldn't see what he was chucking away.
Let's not stereotype him before we have seen him play a few games though eh? Treat him as the individual he is,like you or I would choose. ;)

I'm going to guess that even if he impresses when it comes to signing and wages that he'll price himself out.

I'm excited about all this I have to say. He's an unbelievable talent. At 26 and with the way his career has turned out thus far I would hope to think the penny has finally dropped for him. Some people are equipped to life in the footballing spotlight but others are not. He was a boy when his head was filled with all the 'best player ever' talk and clearly couldn't handle it at the time. But as mentioned before his career has not turned out the way everyone expected. I think 10yrs on he will have feelings of regret. Regret that he's let himself down more than anything. This is a huge lifeline for him and I'd expect him to grasp it with both hands (under CWAKS guidance)
Come the 10th we'll be watching Gary et al waxing lyrical about him... And the rest of the team for that matter!! Come on the Blades! 👊

I now claim ledge ITK status.
Cadette? Pah.

Congratulations!

Not stereotyping him mate, his personal history is in the public domain. If CW wants him on board and he wears our team colours, he will get 100% support from me.

The only time I ever gave very muted applause was when Marlon King scored for us at BDTBL.

I suspect Chris saw that desire in his eyes. And boy does he like to check you out as I found to my delight bumping into him in town after the League one title season.
I doubt anybody could deceive him. We are luckier than we will ever know.

I wholeheartedly agree! The way he has turned this club around and brought everyone together is almost unbelievable. He's one of our own! 😁

I really hope this works out for him, it'd be an amazing story if he came good for us. I wish him all the best, he's got amazing talent and his troubles with the law appear to be long gone, he just needs to be fit and have a manager who gets the best out of him; no better than CWAK.
