Love all this talk about next year, but without the ownership dispute being resolved in a timely way will we have the budget for Chris to give us a squad than can compete successfully? We are not likely to make much progress if all we can do is match last year's budget from the owners.Doing things on the cheap is not a good model for the Premiership.

Why would we only match last years budget?

Hopefully it forced things to a head between the owners and the best solution comes out.

That said there’s no manager I’d trust more with our budget than Wilder. I’d back him to find the right players to supplement squad with even a reasonable budget.

Even if we come down - there will still be chunky parashoot payments that would allow us a bigger budget than we have seen in a while irregardless.

We play this right and we can set ourselves up properly for the long run - rather than boom and bust spending.

Going for a couple of Championship players who can step up, a Prem player and another young Prem player on loan according to “Bit In Paper”

There is no way we won't spend anything but don't expect £20m or £30m signings. We will carry on being sensible with transfers and wages. I could see maybe a few £10m ish offers going in but not much more. Sensible and steady is the way forward.

Well there's geezers on the Prince's "Side" banging on this kinda shiz - apparently we iz gonna be well rich innit:

Just do what we did when we got promoted to the Championship. One or two experienced pros at that level, a few of the best from the league below and a couple of loans.

Finish 10th and establish ourselves. A few more good signings.

Go into the last day of our second season needing to win on the last day for the PL title.

Steady progression.

If that was true then they should be dropping the Court case and buying McCabe out under the original terms of the agreement. If they’re actually that rich they should have bought Newcastle last season.

Don’t think that that’s that unrealistic say the prince wins the court battle all he’s got to do is ask his grandad do you want a premier league club.

Saudi have been rumored to be after man united and other teams. They’d have one without the hassle of buying a club.

And they might get rid of CW too.......every cloud has a shit lining so I'm told.

It will be interesting to see what the Prince’s motives are now, does he just want his investment back and walk away or has more investors on board
Also does Kev now want to sell, best possible time for him in reality to sell the club and recoup some money
Going to be interesting but we do need a quick resolution

Because I'm sad I've just been looking on what teams that are currently scrapping to avoid relegation have spent so far this season (according to transfermarkt.com) - Out of all these teams I've genuinely not heard of some of their most expensive signings.

Cardiff - £51m (obviously Sala was quite expensive at £17m)
Huddersfield (I know they're down) - £50m
Brighton - £86m - inc £19m on Alireza Jahanbakhsh Right Winger never heard of him
Southampton - £62m - inc £25m on Jannik Vestergaard Centre-Back never heard of him

I think this shows we will need to be prepared to spend, but spend wisely....I've not included Fulham because their spending was just ridiculous and they attempted to more or less overhaul a good team with journeymen.

Realistically we will need to spend quite a bit, but I would honestly be surprised to see us spend anywhere near these team....time will tell if thats our downfall but I expect further shrewd signings and more attacking football on display.

Cant wait UTB!!

I hope there’s someone else ready to buy both.

Kev got the prince involved cause he cba now he’s bothered again.

The key for me is that IF we come back down, we learn from our last mistakes, follow the model of Burnley with Dyche and stick with Wilder to try and bounce back up again.

100 times this ^^^^^

Given that our wage bill (almost) doubled from Lg 1 to Championship it'll at least double again to Prem so that's £40 million on wages with the same players, there isn't a huge amount to spend after that considering the better Championship players are in the 10-20 million bracket, I could be wrong but the improvement will be slow but maybe all the lads will step up and we'll be comfortable anyway.

It's not how much you spend but who you recruit! The most obvious example is Waghorn £5 mill and big wages versus Didsy Free and much lower wages; it equally applies to Norwood, Egan and most of the rest of the team. I know it will probably be harder to do that when we are in the PL but the principle is the same and I am sure CW will continue his policy of not paying more than he thinks a player is worth.

UTB

Oddly our ownership dispute might prove a blessing in disguise.
If they're still squabbling and a judge says we have to continue to cut our cloth we'll not be able to be stupid but will still have enough dosh to invest sensibly.

Jahanbaksh is the Iranian winger (played in the world cup) signed from AZ, looked a good player but hasn't done too much this year for Brighton.

Vestergaard is Danish from BMG (not even going to try and spell it). They over paid for him by about £10m but they did have VVD money sat in the bank.

I think the £100m from the PL money might help.

The problem is KMc and BRP won't/can't put the £30/40m into the club upfront before the start of the season and the £120m doesn't come until the end of the season.

Even if we come down - there will still be chunky parashoot payments that would allow us a bigger budget than we have seen in a while irregardless.
And bigger wages to maintain.
The whole point of the parachute payments was to pay off big contracts so the clubs weren't put into financial difficulty. Only problem is fans want it spending on more expensive players.

I think the first installment comes this summer and there will be plenty of third part finance companies prepared to offer short term loans against this income.

We’ll comfortably have the lowest budget in the league. Hopefully Wilder, Knill & Mitchell can pull some gems out so we can consolidate and keep boosting the finances.

United's success has never been about individuals but the perfomance of the whole squad. So far, CW has approached each obstacle and boldly surmounted them in a flamboyant manner. I have no doubts that the biggest challenge lies ahead, and every confidence that we have the right man to get the job done. Go stick it to them Chris, you've got this. :)
