Pitch invasion - club say to stay off pitch

The players would still get their lap of honour after any pitch invasion.

Imagine Leeds not having a pitch invasion.... me neither. It would be bizarre if we didn't.
I normally support your attempts to improve the noise levels at the Lane, but totally disagree with you on this. I asked you on another thread, and you declined to answer, 'Which bit of only players and officials on the pitch, and fans in case of emergency, don't you understand?' . The pitch invasion may be no more than childish over-exuberance, but every time fans go on the pitch is one step further towards hardening the attitude that we need to be prevented from getting on the pitch. I have no idea what the next emergency will be, but there will be one sometime at a football ground in the future, and the place of safety for many will be the pitch. I did not foresee the Hillsborough disaster, so I am not trying to claim to be smarter than you. But I urge you to learn from experience - life matters more than promotion. Stay off the pitch.

What are your thoughts on a pitch invasion if we win on sat against Ipswich?
Technically we will still need a point but realistically we’ll be up with the massive goal difference,Leeds might also slip up against Villa on Sunday.
Live on sky it’s going to be an amazing atmosphere if we win!!
And the point of invading the pitch would be what exactly ?

It’s a different ball game entirely at away games.......usually at smaller clubs.
Don’t give a fuck about ruining their pitch.

Only our fans on the pitch. Not a grudge game. If we win, Ipswich players safe. Would just be a celebration.

Yeah you seem to be getting loads of support on here

Because this forum is full of people like you.

There aren’t that many selfish idiots at our games.

Look at all these selfish Southampton idiots, after they got promoted to the PL having come straight through L1:

Yep. But players generally don't get injured in pitch invasions. They're very capable of looking after themselves.

I understand the security risks with pitch invasions on certain occasions, but this wouldn't be one of them.

If 5,000 go on the pitch do you want them all banned? Really?

Kids love pitch invasions anyway. Won't somebody please think of them?

Literally every other club in the league would do it. It would not damage our reputation one bit.... outside your small select group.
Do you have a rope ladder to get down from the BLUT then Ricky? Through the jolly relegated Ipswich fans, who'll help you on your merry way?

Sometimes, just sometimes, no matter how sensible you are, emotion overtakes sense. At Northampton, despite having a lot to lose and any sense of normality, the pure emotion overtook me and before I knew it ( at the end) I was on the pitch... didn’t want to, didn’t mean to, but like a Wilder moth to a Wilder flame I was drawn in...

I’m sure it will happen, but as me Mum said if you are going in there keep it safe...

I used to love a good pitch invasion back in the day, but maybe it’s that I’m older but like CarlMcBlade says, it’s very 90s.

Without internet or smartphones they seemed to be more spontaneous, but now days it seems to be a planned, organised celebration in order to be seen on Sky Sports News or taking selfies and posting them online.

Exactly what I was about to write. In the social media era there’s something horribly self regarding about a lot of pitch invaders.

It’s no longer just an uncontrolled outpouring of celebration. It’s something contrived and indulgent.

It’s a no from me.

It is a criminal offence to go on the pitch and can lead to fines and bans.

If it happens during the match you will offer the powers that be to deduct points!

Why would you do this?
Because they want to, no other reason.

You wont find me on the pitch , especially when Ipswich get their third goal !!

Despite the warnings the club put out some numbskulls will still want their moment on the pitch even though factually nothing can be won on Saturday.

Also we have to win a football match.

It will be a National embarrassment If we score and fans run on the pitch live on Sky.

That’s the best one yet. I’m sure there are many people on here who would be most insulted by your statement that they are just like me.
How the forum continues to have so many discussions and stay in operation is a miracle when it’s full of likeminded automatons.

All it takes is a few Ipswich fans to come on and start fighting and we will get points deducted.

It could happen!
We have Ricky ’s written promise that it can’t. So we should be all good there.
Of course if it did, it would be the fault of the Ipswich fans or the authorities and not those that caused it in the first place.
As I said selfish Cunts.

I've posted a couple of recent pitch invasion photos above. Could you find me an example of a club having points deducted following one of these post game, celebratory occasions?

Whatever the pros and cons of pitch invasions no matter how many people say "yeah but they won't do blah blah blah" we definitely won't be promoted on Saturday so it just seems daft.

It's a shame that we can't be promoted at home but it is what it is.

I believe in the staff and players absolutely don't get me wrong, they'll be up for it but goal difference may be "as good as a point" but the fact is it's not a point.

I look at the circumstances as of today(23/04/19) and say it is morally wrong to enter the playing field at any time. However, as a grown man that’s a father of a 10 year old child who wants to provide him with the best possible childhood memories...this would be up there for him. I want him to turn round and say in 20 years time that ‘dad, I remember when we got promoted to the premier league and how great that Ipswich game was’.
Believe me it’s not something I would do now. It may be stupid and unlawful to invade the pitch should be win Saturday...but at the same time in comparison to the vast majority of teams who have been promoted to the top flight recently, it would be stupid if we didn’t invade the pitch.
All I’m saying is, I don’t know what will happen. Heart says do it, head says no. It’s the spur of the moment and the feeling of invading a pitch after a 13 year absence of the top flight would be inevitable. We’ll see.
